Engine failed on Astra Cdti, found Recondioned engines on the web, talked to them & they promised the earth (hindsite is wonderful)They quoted £995 + Vat to totally recondition the engine but wanted 100% up front, l refused & offered 50% & balance when engine rebuilt which was agreed. Delivered the engine on 12/01/2011 & was told 7-10 days. Waited patiently for 2 weeks with no contact from them so decided to phone them & that's when you realise what a scam they are. You get left hanging on the phone, a differant person answers all the time, eventually after a week of trying l get hold of Ronnie & he says engine is stripped & parts on order so you think finally getting somewhere WRONG. Another 2 weeks goes by & nothing, try phoning again & get the usual run around until l get told Ronnie not there anymore so get guy called Kevin & he says engine not been touched but will get it done & get back to me, a few days later surprise Kevin phones me but with the news that the head is too badly warped so will need a new one, will cost £300 extra but if paid now engine will be done within a week so regretably paid £300 more - HUGE MISTAKE. Have even driven from Devon to see whats happening only to find Ronnie is back but got even more lies etc etc etc. While l was there other people where arriving demanding there cars back but with no joy. Anyway as it stands l have paid them just under £900 & have no engine with little hope of even getting a box of bits. They are a complete SCAM outfit.
This company have had my car for 14 weeks every week all i get it will be 7 days i went to pick up my car this week and was attacked by four people and betten up the police are aware
i was unable to find my vehicle i dont no what to do next i have followed idvice from trading standards sent recorded letters they need to be stoped dont use them i am lucky to be hear ps i was beaten up because i called them rip offs
i will be seeing a solicister tomorow
and hold the company liable vicious liabity the so called security gards
and the police will proscute them as the cctv
but i have parted with 2500 plus the cost of vehicle which is missing
can any one help next time they may kill some one
This company must not be touched. My car was sent there with a problem with it's engine. Was given an estimated invoice of 3100.00, when asked what why it was 1400.00 higher the the quote given on the phone they gave a long list of extra jobs that needed doing. I was tol that this was the price and if I didn't want the work completetd I had to pay 690.00 to get my car back with the engine in bits. While talking to Martin, I was told whtaever I did it had to be payment up front, who would require this. Started to incetigate and found ourt what a rouge company they are, trading under many names. The web site is very convincing about when you get thee it is a dirty workshop with no speaking tradesman. It is now the 3 February taken all my engine parts out of the car (not being a mechanic) I can see that I have no gearbox returned. Now not sure what else is missing.
