I looked them up before I moved in and I should've heeded the other complaint on here that warned of their being unprofessional. However, I needed an apartment so I moved in anyway, and any and all dealings with these people proved to be awful, overly difficult and overall shady. These people are the worst landlords I've ever encountered. So bad that I will likely need to take LEGAL ACTION against them.
I knew the person who lived in the building before and he was angry about there being mold and a rodent infestation, however my unit seemed fine which is why I didn't take that as a warning sign. The person who lived there before was a good friend of mine so he left some furniture behind in the apartment for me to have when I moved in. We asked the landlords THREE times if it would be okay to leave things there, and they assured us it would be fine. What happens the day I move in? [Funny story there too, I had to delay my move in because they kept telling me the cleaning woman was coming and she never came. Oh actually she came, after delaying and delaying they finally told me I could move in, and THEN while trying to move in, the cleaning lady is there. Where am I supposed to put things when she hasn't even cleaned the carpet?] Oh, everything is GONE. All the nice stuff that was left there from my friend, vanished.
I call the landlords who then seem to have forgotten ever being ask THREE times if it would be okay to leave things in the apartment. The woman proceeds to haughtily explain that since we didn't label anything there [oh except that they didn't tell us anything needed to be f**king labelled!] it must have been thrown away. Okay, FINE. Frustrating but FINE.
I quickly figured out that if I wanted to be at all happy in my new place I had to deal with these people as little as possible, which actually worked out alright until it came time to move out. I notified them of my plans to move out as soon as my lease was up, and I moved all my things out. Skipping over some minor irritations like them calling me while I was on vacation in Hawaii demanding my house keys when I had already paid the full month and it wasn't even up yet. Since they are terrible at responding to mail and email, I called them to give them my forwarding address for my security deposit. This is where things got really fun!
They did not ever call me back, but as I checked my bank account while the weeks rolled by, I noticed they never cashed my last rent check, so I assumed they were letting me keep that as it was the same amount as my deposit. NOPE!
Apparently they had been hoarding more than one of my rent checks (which I didn't notice since I had to pay new rent and a new deposit on my new place and had many other checks for other things being cashed) and then today, with no notice at all, they cashed ALL OF THEM. So I got to wake up to my bank account having THOUSANDS missing, no idea why, and on top of that HUNDREDS more in overdraft fees. Oh and still no word on when/IF I will ever be getting my security deposit back.
Luckily for me, I took pictures of my place after I moved out so that it can plainly be seen that there was no damage or anything they would need to keep my deposit for. So if they don't send it to me soon and if they continue ignoring my emails, I will be taking them to COURT. >:
I know you may be a desperate college student like I was, just looking for a place close to campus, but you really don't want to live anywhere that these people are landlords of. Trust me.
