I had my house built in 1995. Soon after I had a Peachtree rep in for several problems. He gladly side stepped each and every issue. One door's glass shattered on the inner portion of the panel and he indicated they didn't cover that as the door was "hung in a twist". I showed him problems with windows and other doors and he was nothing more than a smart ###. I had my rear Patio door ( one opens, the other is locked in place) not open for over three years, but did get new hardware from Peachtree and their "home install video". I managed to get it working again but like others said the opening hardware will twist past and not open a door...once too many times and it will stop working. I shutter each time I open the door to get to the deck fearing it will fail again. We use the single door out of the mudroom rather than chance the failure, most times. The garage French door is the one with the shattered glass pain, one side only doesn't want to open on the outside in, but seems to work on the inside out. The windows are not covered on the life time warranty have had bubbles in them from soon after installaton... I don't know how they get away with calling theirs a lifetime warranty, and sellng their type over priced, out of style opening hardware.
Thanks for a quick and good answer as well as helpful information. I did have difficulties in construction so my attention was divided in many ways. I can tell you though that to a lay person a life time warranty is just that...we have gone too far in this country saying one things that in reality means another. All in all I will replace the windows and doors in this house in the next few years which will be around twenty years...safe to say it won't be Peachtree but it could have been if they had been a bit more forthright.
