I had similar experience with TLC Worldwide Marketing. I got my free airline ticket “gift” promotion from HSBC last year for opening an account. I sent in my Booking Request Form more than three months ahead of my planned date of travel. When I did not hear from them, I called them from time to time. Most of the time I would get a voice mail; other times they would just tell me that someone will call me back. When it got too close to my departure date, I just gave up and bought my own ticket instead. What made this worse was that I got a 1099 from HSCB for $427. So now I have to pay tax on this as well. What I got was a “punishment” and not a gift.
