Why won't officials listen to complaints? It is like intact family is not important any longer. If the parents are having a drug problem, there is a way that can be handled without removing children from home. Also, there is a difference between abuse and discipline. Our young adults are having so many legal problems and some ending up in prison because they were not taught the consequences of their decisions. Today, children are still getting a bar of soap in their mouth for using profanity or talking back, but how many parents know that CPS considers that abuse? For generations this happens and those generations are still alive and doing well...knowing better what language is appropriate and you don't talk back to anyone. CPS oversteps bounderies as well as making their own rules along the way. I know a CPS worker who has told her husband that if he used the belt on the kids not to leave bruises. ? We use a belt, even if there is a bruse, it is abuse regardless. Time-out does not work on all children as a form of discipline. Gee, my mother was whipped with a razor strap, teachers hit your hands with rulers, and when I was young, that same mother only used belt on me once or I got restricted for a week. That really hurt when there was an upcoming school dance, etc. My daughter made bad grades on a 6-week report and I took her land-line out of her bedroom until next report period. Oh well, CPS wants to place kiddos away from parents/family because that is their job...not working with family; that might take real work.
