I don't mean to seem harsh right off the bat, but I'm just curious, if not "a single person anywhere in my nation wide search" is making money, then how does Mediak continue to stay in business?
My answer and belief is that they only stay in business if there are sales being made by their dealers, and since they are still in business, that leads me to believe sales are being made. (And we're really coming into the busy time for Mediak business right now with the Christmas holiday approaching.)
In fact, if Mediak wasn't doing well, they wouldn't have the money to invest in creating their new DVD product that was announced on Oct. 1, 2008.
(And, no, Mediak wouldn't be able to stay in business just by selling new systems to new dealers.)
It also seems to me that if there weren't any dealers making money on the internet, those dealers wouldn't pay to continue to keep their websites up, yet numerous people can be found on the net.
As far as personal selling, it's true that one person could have a booth at a show and sell very little and another person could run that same booth and sell much more. It all depends on how you get the customers' attention, how you engage them, and how you make the sale easy for them, and if you're not confusing them with too many options.
Have you been in sales before, or is this your first time to give a crack at it?
If it's your first time I'd suggest you read about selling, and talk to other vendors at shows in your area--no matter what they are selling--and ask their advice about how to sell more effectively.
I wish I could see how your booth is set up, or what you do at your booth while you're selling.
The key is to engage the customer enough to come over to the booth and have them HEAR A SAMPLE OF THE MUSIC. If you're not doing that, I can see why you wouldn't be selling any.
I wish you the best of luck and encourage you to keep learning, and when you find something that works, build on that.
As a trumpet player and musician for 30 years, I believe that Mediak has an excellent, quality product.
I like it so much and think it is such a cool gift idea that I'm actually strongly considering becoming a dealer myself.
For those who haven't heard Mediak's music CDs yet, go to their website, mediak.com, and give a listen!
