Hey, they try.
I have done jobs for them and still do if we have nothing better to do. I have spoken with J.D. and he is a strait forward guy. He has very plainly said to me "never turn down a normal paying job for one of their jobs."
Despite their screening process, they do have no way of knowing what tech is good until they try them out. If they get a complaint, they don't use that tech anymore. Heck, every dork, nerd and geek claims to be a "puter expert" and anyone can pass any test through cheating and then look like an expert on paper.
They have always paid us but it does take time. Maybe they have to wait for the funds to clear from the client and make sure they do not reverse charges or bounce checks.
Using local, with out references, is more risky than using them. Heck, I have one of the best references in the world, http://www.GuaranteedPCFIX.com/news but it is still a tough market and no one trusts easily and the home computer is an intimate part of their live.
People of experience (clients and computer people) say "ya right" to us but we have been on TV and we did not pay to be on TV. It was because I was tested and found to be honorable and honest.
The only gripe I have with Gurus2Go is they use overseas "techs" for their remote support. Ya, so what if they only have to pay them $1.99 an hour, (or per job... I can not remember what J.D. said but it was $1.99). People are sick of dealing with some guy who says his name is "John" and reads from a script.
People need to stand up and realize you get what you pay for and you PAY for what you get.
I wished they would team up with us and offer their clients our Guaranteed PC FIX, we have a higher renewal rate than any other computer repair business.
Anyways, I don't want to come off as an info mercial but I really think they try their best and are honorable.
With craigs list, you could be getting a person who is a geeksquad reject.
I have seen bills for $700 for virus clean up and they finally formatted and lost the guys wedding photos. You got off easy.
Its hard to find good computer help.
If you ever need help again, I have a reference, http://www.GuaranteedPCFIX.com/news and we can make your PC boot up 2 times as fast, run faster and keep it protected for a year, guaranteed.
We are looking to advertise, do you think this web site would be a good idea? (like the above ad for "Zprotect")
I would like to find a place to get the client before they get burned, but it may also help them appreciate us more after dealing with others.
I am thinking that if I advertise here, people would be more confident and that if we did not live up to our claims, they would have a place fight back.
What do you think?
