I spoke with Jody Bender from Priceless Pets 4 U regarding an Abyssinian. She required a $300 deposit to even get on her waiting list, which I paid to her on January 10th. Jody informed me that we were 10th in line for a cat and that she would keep us updated.

Over the next 2 months, I would check in with her about our place in line and try to get relevant information from her. I called her about a month ago and asked where we were in line and she seemed to have completely forgotten who I was and had to ask me what place she had told me that I was in line. She then told me her list was 25 people long.

After receiving no real update from her, my husband and I felt like there was something up and did not feel like waiting indefinitely without updates was fair so I checked in with her again and she said we were close. I asked for clarification if there were kittens on the ground and she gave a vague answer not confirming or denying if there were kittens. At that point, my husband and I decided that this experience was not for us as he is a reputable French Bulldog breeder with the AKC. Being that he is a verified breeder, we knew that all the vague stringing along Jody Bender was doing to us was not in line with how things are typically done. At that point, I called her and asked if we could forfeit our place in line and have the deposit returned to us. She immediately became incredibly aggressive and rude saying that she would not refund us. I offered for another person on her waiting list to advance and take our place. She then said that everyone on her list (now 6-8 according to her) is accounted for and will have a kitten. I expressed confusion being that she had just told me a few days prior that her waiting list was 25 people long and that I did not realize that she had 25 kittens on the ground when she had just told me that her list was 6-8 people long. During this phone conversation, she became unbecomingly aggressive. I asked her if we could meet in the middle with a partial refund as according to her, she had 25 people on her waiting list just days prior. She told me she would speak with her partner and get back to me. I received no update even after I sent her 2 texts the following week to follow up which she did not reply to.

I called her again a couple times thereafter and broached the subject once more. She accused me of finding another cat and wanting my money back for that reason, which I found incredibly inappropriate and not the case. I explained that we weren't comfortable moving forward with her due to the vague replies and lack of real information she was providing. She then became very verbally aggressive and said that this was always the deal and she never owed us any type of update.

At this point, not only do we question the virility of her claims of having kittens, we certainly do not want to deal with a person like her. She made the entire experience extremely stressful and unpleasant. At this point, we are certain that we are not the first or the last ones to lose a $300 holding fee to this wretch of a woman and we understand that there will be no refund or partial refund from this breeder but want to make sure that no one else who finds her through your page has this experience. We are also certain that this is not the first complaint on her business practices.

This lady WANTS to take your $300 deposit then be such a rag that you back out and she keeps your money. She is a hideous person and I don't vent want a cat from her- there's no way she's bringing them up in a happy environment.

Desired outcome: None

I also purchased kittens from Jody Bender at Priceless pets 4 u also known as moonlight farms and cougars den. My kittens were infected with giardia, coccidia, feline leukemia virus, and feline coronavirus that developed into feline infectious peritonitis. They have since passed. My experience was heart breaking and I don’t want anyone to go through this ever… please do not buy kittens from this breeder! She does not test her kittens nor does she test her breeder cats regularly. I also believe she knew the kittens she sold me were sick.

I purchased two Aby kittens from Jody Bender last May 2021. Both kittens have been confirmed after several expensive blood tests over several months, to have progressive Feline Leukemia, amongst other health issues and conditions. They are currently in good health and alive to make their one-year birthday, after I have spent thousands of dollars to bring them to their current healthy condition.

Jody claimed they would be healthy clean kittens. After telling her what happened Jody claims this has never happened before in thirty years and isn't sure how four litters of kittens that she sold, were all sick. I know she did not test the kittens for viruses. She told me at the time that she tests the parents (but clearly not often enough). This travesty could have been prevented with more ethical standards in place in the first place.

I fear that the cattery is not upholding regular testing and a good practice of standard of care.

She offered to send me "new" kittens. I would obviously not be euthanizing my healthy cats and taking more kittens from her cattery. I will never do business with her again, and do not recommend her cattery for the purchase of any kittens.

Hi Brandy, I am so very sorry to hear of this. May 2021 is exactly when we would’ve been selecting a kitten from her so we very likely would’ve found ourselves in the exact same position as you. Make sure you file a formal complaint about her on as many platforms as possible so that nobody else has go through this. My heart breaks for your babies but I am happy to hear that they are doing well

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad you did not end up getting kittens from her.

I agree, it is good to inform others, so that they do not have to go through this horrific experience, and horrible for the poor kittens. She should not be breeding more cats.

The disease is horrible. I hope I can enjoy these beautiful furr-kids for as many years as it is possible. They are wonderful innocent amazing beings.
