Piedmont Mechanical Contractors Non communicative and unwilling to provide any information after being paid for diagnosis

If PMC ever bothers to respond to me after more than a week of calling, I will amend this review to reflect any courtesy they actually extend.

PMC does not return calls. PMC does not provide requested information from voicemails left, since they are consistently unavailable to answer calls. Can't hardly reach a human and when you do they refuse to help. I think their business model is to get the service visit fee from American Home Shield, then state they cannot do the work itself, so they make $125 or whatever from AHS just to visit the properties for 10 mins per. Doesn't seem like a lucrative business model, but why else simply refuse to do the repair and not provide any backup for why you cannot do a very routine furnace blower repair. Anyone reading these reviews should realize this is not a company worth trying to do business with.

Recommendation: Insist that your home warranty company send a better company to your home

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors They came to our house 4 times and never fixed the problem

They came to our house 4 times and never fixed the problem. I spoke with Hunter and was told they couldn't come back for 5 days, so no air for us for 5 days. They could care less about our comfort... not sure why they are in business, certainly not to satisfy the customer... stay away.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors I love this company!

I love this company! They certainly did me right! Chris and Talia were so professional and kind that I will continue to do business with this company! I was having trouble getting my home owner's warranty to pay for damage caused by lightning, and Talia was able to give me the invoice so I could send it to my insurance company. Thank you all so much! Continue to be great!

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors I gotta say, Piedmont Mechanical Contractors, Inc

I gotta say, Piedmont Mechanical Contractors, Inc. deserves a big fat ZERO from me. The only reason I gave them one star is 'cause I had to, ya know? They were sent to me through my AHS insurance policy. These guys had the nerve to ask us to turn off the unit a whole 24-48 hours before they showed up. So we did as they asked, and by the time they arrived, the area was all dry and ready for 'em. But guess what? The technician they sent had no clue what to do! Can you believe it? He straight up told us, "I don't know what to do." And get this, they had the audacity to tell us that if anything went wrong again, we had 30 days to call 'em. Well, wouldn't you know it, just 40 days later, something went wrong again! So no matter who your home warranty is with, stay far away from Piedmont Mechanical Contractors, Inc. They ain't worth your time.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors Don't hire this company

Don't hire this company. We've been without AC for four weeks and were forced to use them because of our lousy Home Shield Warranty. Caught in the middle of finger pointing between HS and Piedmont, we were finally told the truth that Piedmont's tech (Josh) didn't submit the paperwork to authorize the work and Piedmont couldn't find him anymore. The home warranty company did nothing to help. We had to track it down ourselves and the warranty company decided to hire a different HVAC company to fix it. If we were old or had health problems, who knows what could've happened with no ac during an Atlanta summer. This company shouldn't have a license and neither should the home warranty program. Terrible experience all around.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors I just read all the bad reviews and, man, I gotta say, my experience was actually pretty good

I just read all the bad reviews and, man, I gotta say, my experience was actually pretty good. So, my AC was acting up, you know, stopping and starting randomly. I had this AHS contractor come over to check it out, but of course, when he got there, it was working just fine. Typical, right? So, he tells me that there's nothing AHS would approve. Well, I wasn't satisfied with that answer, so I decided to get a second opinion. This time, I made sure to record a video when the thermostat was on but the outside unit wasn't running. I mean, gotta have some evidence, right?

So, Piedmont was the second opinion contractor that got sent out. They scheduled a visit for me within 2 days, and get this, all through text! How convenient is that? Anyway, I called them up to ask about the situation, and this nice guy tells me that the video might be helpful, but he can't make any promises. Fair enough, I guess. The tech shows up right on time and gets to work. He quickly figures out the problem and replaces the capacitor. I gotta say, he seemed like he knew what he was doing, so maybe we just lucked out compared to all those other reviews. But hey, it all worked out in the end, so I'm happy.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors So, I had this issue with my thermostat and my home warranty company, HSA, sent Piedmont Contractor to fix it

So, I had this issue with my thermostat and my home warranty company, HSA, sent Piedmont Contractor to fix it. The tech guy said the thermostat was fine, but there was a leak in the evaporate coil. I had to pay an extra $375 to the franchise of my home warranty for that. They replaced the coil, but guess what? It still didn't work! After a few days, the tech guy came back and said everything was fixed. He claimed the thermostat was at 75 degrees and the basement was at 60 degrees. But he didn't want to listen to us and just left. HSA gave us the option to call another company, and guess what? In just 10 minutes, the new tech guy figured out that it was actually the thermostat causing the problem. He replaced it and voila, problem solved! I tried calling Piedmont to complain, but this lady I spoke to just laughed at me and hung up. I called six more times to get their email address, but she hung up on me every single time.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors This company is a fradulent company

This company is a fradulent company. They were assigned by American Home Shield (***) to repair my Air-conditioning unit. They repaired my unit for a leak and refilled 12 pounds of Freon. Within less than 6 weeks, my unit stopped working again. They came back and said they found a different leak, and asked me to pay again for the 12 pounds of *** once again. They took no ownership for the mistake in diagnosing the original problem. As per the *** contract if the recall period is more than a month, customer has to pay again for the services. Where is the warranty for the work being performed? Isn't there a standard warranty period for services? Any vendor will provide at least a minimum of 90 day warranty for their work. *** took no ownership to resolve the issue. Both *** and Piedmont Mechanical Contractors should be audited for their business practices and consumers such as myself should be provided justice! Sincerely Ravi D

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors Don't use this company for any work

Don't use this company for any work. They were assigned by American Home Shield to fix our heater. When the part finally came in, they called to schedule but insisted we pay our portion of $ *** upfront. When I asked why I had to pay for services that haven't been done yet, they rudely said that "the owner requires payment upfront" before scheduling service. I responded rudely that I didn't think it was fair and offered to pay half upfront. They said no. Since I didn't want to wait another week to get someone else to come to the house and another week to wait for the part, I agreed and gave them my credit card. (on a Friday) It was 29 degrees all weekend and they scheduled us for Monday. They didn't call, didn't show. I finally called only to be told... we won't help you and they hung up on me. I actually think they did me a favor. I have another company coming tomorrow (not days and days later). Don't agree to use this company. They are rude and dishonest. By the way, I wish there was a zero rating. Read their reviews and look at their 1.73/5 rating... says a lot.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors This company is terrible

This company is terrible. We were referred to them by American Home Shield, but they never answer the phone. When you call, their message says they open at 8am, but the phone just keeps ringing. They only respond to text messages, but even that takes forever.

A technician did come and diagnose the problem, but he quickly left because he said he could only fix it if I worked directly with him. Keep in mind, I don't have air conditioning right now. He tried explaining how the warranty worked, but I told him I needed to get approval from AHS over the phone first. By the time I called AHS, they had already partially approved the work order.

So, I tried to get in touch with Piedmont Mechanical Contractors for over an hour to arrange the repair, but they never responded on the phone. Finally, they texted me back saying the claim was denied and they couldn't fix it today. I kept texting them back and forth, telling them what their technician had said and how I needed AC immediately.

I finally got the repair cost, but I decided to call another company because of their lack of responsiveness. Luckily, I found someone else who can fix it today!

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors Our complaint started in April 2022 when #AmericanHomeShield (AHS) suggested we use their company ProConnect for an A/C Tune-up (Cost $75)

Our complaint started in April 2022 when #AmericanHomeShield (AHS) suggested we use their company ProConnect for an A/C Tune-up (Cost $75). The tech came to our home and spent 20 minutes there. We never received his report, but he said we were low on Freon and needed to request service from AHS. We put in a request with AHS (Cost $75) and they sent Piedmont Mechanical Contractors to handle the service call. They diagnosed the issue as low Freon caused by a coil leak in the A/C. They requested to replace the coil, which was approved. Two technicians came to replace the coil and perform a code upgrade, as well as install 10lbs of Freon (cost $1,825).

After ten days, the A/C still wasn't cooling, so we called AHS for a recall on the A/C. One technician from Piedmont Mechanical arrived and diagnosed burned wires, hoping it didn't damage the compressor. He said he would file a report, but we never received it. According to him, it was his opinion that we experienced a power surge. AHS used the term "power surge" to deny the repair of the unit. However, there was no evidence of a power surge in our house or any of the outside units.

We sought an independent diagnosis, and they concluded that the compressor failed, causing an overload in the system and the unit to fail. We have sent letters to AHS corporate office because their customer service was unhelpful, and they claimed there was nothing else they could do. We pay $70 a month for the Enhanced Plan at AHS to protect us against expenses, but we lost out on this one! I have filed a complaint with AHS corporate office and am still waiting for a response.

#PiedmontMechanical put our lives in danger! Their technicians did a terrible job replacing the coil and even failed to connect the furnace vent system. If it had worked, we would have been exposed to Carbon Monoxide. AHS (I have pictures of)

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors Date is 9/21

Date is 9/21. If I could give this company zero stars, I would. I was assigned this contractor through my AHS insurance policy. All I will say is, all the bad reviews you see are probably pretty accurate. This company cancelled on me twice and they never answer their phone as they primarily use text to communicate. Today, I have been without air for a little over 3 weeks. My upstairs' air went out on 8/26. I was assigned this company the very next day. After they finally came out to do the diagnosis and got approval from AHS to complete the work, I received a call from them giving me my out-of- pocket cost for the replacement of refrigerant needed after the installation of a new compressor. The cost they gave was for $885.00 to which I agreed to pay in order to get on their schedule for repair. On the day of the repair, I received a text message instructing me to remit full payment before 12:00pm that day or my appointment would be cancelled. I immediately called Piedmont to inquire as to why I was being asked to pay for a repair I have not yet received and in their normal fashion, they did not answer the phone and at 12:06p, I received another text stating that my appointment had been cancelled due to non-payment. At that time I called AHS to request that I be assigned a different contractor based on all of the above. After some pulling of teeth, I was able to get my job reassigned and the new contractor (Air Design) came out the next day, Saturday, 9/18, did their diagnosis and are currently at my home, as I'm typing, doing the repair. Here's he big kicker though. Like most contractors, they are doing the repair before receiving payment and my out-of-pocket cost for refrigerant is $350.00 not $885.00. So, that said, not only is Piedmont unprofessional, unreliable and reasonable, they also appear to be unscrupulous as they were nearly triple charging me for refrigerant. AGAIN, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If you are assigned them through your insurance, flat out refuse to use them! They are greedy and will try to hold your A/C and comfort hostage until you pay them upfront for work they have not yet completed. AHS really needs to discontinue using them as a provider as it is dangerous to continue to do so. They are a huge liability as lawsuits can be filed against AHS due to undo harm caused to the elderly and customers with medical issues, in general, due to their refusal to make repairs until payment is received. I say that because we, as the "Insured" are contracted with the insurance company not with their contractors. Anywho, that's another matter altogether. Back to my original point. Aside from having some of my cost taken care of, one of the main reasons I signed up for the insurance was so I wouldn't have to deal with unscrupulous contractors. Piedmont Mechanical, in my opinion, are the epitome of unscrupulous! There should be a standard by which they are held and should operate by when contracted with an insurance company. After all, even though indirectly, they are a representation of the insurance company. I will be making a formal complaint with AHS and will be pushing for their removing from the list of preferred contractors. The fact they attempted to almost triple charge on refrigerant should be sufficient enough reason to do so. Their 2.25 rating is well deserved!

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors This company messed up my furnace diagnosis in 2019

This company messed up my furnace diagnosis in 2019. They said American Home Shield wouldn't cover a clogged flue, so we hired another guy to fix it. Turns out, there was no clog at all! We called AHS and they sent Piedmont back, but now they're saying it's a cracked heat exchange, which they claim is a pre-existing issue. AHS won't cover it (again), and Piedmont won't take responsibility for their original mistake. Can you believe it? It's the same technician from 2019! The whole point of having a warranty is to handle these problems when they happen. If they never cover anything or send you clueless contractors who can't diagnose properly, what's the point?

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors This company is providing unethikal services

This company is providing unethikal services. They had already charged me once for a part, that they installed and relayed to the Home warranty company that they needed to install it again, stating it was a state requirement. They also want to charge for another part that they state is required by the state of Georgia, but later stated to me that this is not required by the state when we asked to review the state code requirements. I asked to speak to the Manager John, who they stated made this decision and they refused stating he was too busy to speak with me. Kelly was very rude when speaking with me on the phone and this company should not be handling warranty claims for AHS anymore. We will also follow-up with AHS, as well.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors On March 24th, Piedmont Mechanical Contractors was assigned to fix the upstairs AC unit in my house in GA

On March 24th, Piedmont Mechanical Contractors was assigned to fix the upstairs AC unit in my house in GA. The heating system was working fine during winter, but after the technician left, we noticed that it stopped working. Since the AC and heater are part of the same HVAC system, the technician might have done something to the HVAC system that caused the heater problem. I called the contractor's office to request an inspection just to make sure they didn't cause the issue, but they refused. So, I called *** to report the heating problem that could have been caused by the AC work. On April 13th, *** issued a recall to the contractor. Piedmont Mechanical Contractors sent a technician who simply told us that they wouldn't check the heating system. He did nothing.

Finally, we discovered that the technician had turned off the gas in the attic while working on the HVAC system on March 24th, but he didn't turn it back on after the work was done. As a result, we have had no heat since March 24th. We had to take half a day off to meet the technician for the recall, only to hear that he wouldn't check the heater because his job was on the AC, even though he was the one who turned off the gas to the heater.

In conclusion, it is evident from the evidence provided that the contractor did not fulfill their obligations and failed to provide the service I paid for, resulting in the heating system not working. Therefore, I believe I should not have to pay the full price, and the contractor should compensate for the damage caused by their incomplete job. I am requesting a refund for the unfinished work and the damage caused by their actions.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors I asked American Home Shield for a second opinion, and they sent Piedmont Mechanicals Contractors, LLC to check things out on 06/28/2022

I asked American Home Shield for a second opinion, and they sent Piedmont Mechanicals Contractors, LLC to check things out on 06/28/2022. The technician said he found two leaks, one where you put in the freeone and another one that I can't remember where he said it was. I asked for a copy of the invoice or whatever he was giving to AHS, but he said he would email it to me and never did. I called Piedmont mechanical on 6/29/22, 7/6/22, 7/13/22, 7/15/22, and 7/17/22, but they never called me back or gave me their recommendation or findings. *** told me the technician said he found a leak, but it was behind a wall he couldn't get to. I know the technician didn't find a leak behind the wall for a few reasons that I explained to Piedmont Mechanical contractors and AHS. First, the technician didn't turn on either system to figure out which was which outside because they weren't labeled. Second, he only looked at the outside unit for a couple of seconds before coming back inside to tell me what he found. He didn't take any pictures or show any physical proof of his findings, and he didn't have any tools with him to make his determination. When I left messages with his company, I told them the same thing and asked them to have him explain how he came to that conclusion. They never responded. The company was very unprofessional for not getting back to a customer who asked for an invoice showing their diagnosis. This is my property, and they couldn't find it in them to respond. It shows they don't care about the customers. The whole situation didn't start well because you can't talk to anyone at the company. Everyone has to communicate through text messages.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors I had Piedmont Mechanical Contractors, Inc

I had Piedmont Mechanical Contractors, Inc. come to my house on 10/12 through American Home Shield to fix my A/C system. The technician showed up without calling beforehand and started working right away. After he left, he told me he had cleared a clogged drain and I thought everything was fine. Since it was cooler that week, I didn't use the system for a day or two. But then, at around 1 am, I heard a leak coming from my ceiling in the master bedroom. The leak was right under the A/C unit that was supposedly fixed. I went up to the attic and saw that the drain pan was filled with water again. I also noticed that my water sensor, which shuts down the system, was upside down. I hadn't touched the unit at all. The next day, I told the receptionist at Piedmont about this, but she treated me disrespectfully and unprofessionally at one point. At first, she listened to my concern, but she wouldn't let me talk to a supervisor or understand my concerns. She accused me of being rude and said I wouldn't let her respond. Eventually, she said they wouldn't come back to fix the issue or address the leak. I explained that I was concerned because the technician had put the water sensor in the pan upside down, clearly his mistake. Then she hung up on me. So, I called AHS and asked them to call me back for the repair. AHS told me that the receptionist had already called and said I had threatened her, so they put me on a "do not dispatch" list. I immediately denied those accusations and asked for an explanation as to why they did that. This lady was completely unprofessional, the technician didn't fix the problem, and I had water leaking through my ceiling. And no manager has contacted me. Another company had to come and fix the same issue, and they let me know that the technician from Piedmont only did half the job. My ceiling was damaged because of the technician's work.

Piedmont Mechanical Contractors I got this home warranty thing from American Home Shield, and in August , I had to call them to fix my air conditioning unit

I got this home warranty thing from American Home Shield, and in August , I had to call them to fix my air conditioning unit. They sent Piedmont Mechanical Contractors to do the job. These guys replaced the condensor, but man, it was so dang noisy. And get this, because of my policy, I had to pay Piedmont a bunch of money for freon and "modifications." What a ripoff.

Then, on November 13, Piedmont sent two technicians to put a noise suppression blanket on the compressor. But guess what? One of those techs went and punctured the aluminum wall of the unit. Now the whole thing had to be replaced. Piedmont told American Home Shield about it, and they said it was okay to replace it. But here's the kicker, my policy only covers $10 per pound of freon, and it doesn't cover the modifications. And Piedmont found out that more modifications were needed, so they wanted me to pay $967 out of my own pocket. Can you believe that?

The thing is, the unit was working fine before their technician messed it up. So I told Piedmont that they should cover the cost since it was their mistake. But nope, they refused. They said I had to follow my policy with American Home Shield and basically told me tough luck. They wouldn't take responsibility for the damage they caused. This wasn't even a warranty repair, it was a repair because their technician screwed up.

So, I had to take some cash offer from American Home Shield and hire another HVAC company to do the replacement. Cost me a whopping $2350. American Home Shield only gave me $734.27, so I had to pay $1615.73 out of my own pocket. I got all the receipts and emails from Piedmont, but man, it was a pain trying to get someone on the phone. They just wouldn't talk to me.

I want Piedmont to reimburse me for all the money I had to spend because of their mistake. I mean, it's only fair, right?
