How I wish I had NEVER bought a house with an HOA! HOAs are simply another layer of politics and favoritism; and run just like any fascist nation.
I bought my house 20 years ago. I changed my name back to the correct name 9 years later and informed all institutions that needed to know of this change.
My HOA asked for documentation proving this change. By sending them their [censored] fees each month should have sufficed for establishing such a change and I told them so.
NO... wasn't good enough. I gave them copies of several documents, local tax, insurance card, etc. Yet, in 2019 these copies were not filed in my file with the HOA.
For years when I needed to communicate with the HOA, I would compose a letter referencing the check. (I never trusted them... and their actions today are testament to my lucidity.) At that time, I was informed that the address I sent my check to was not part of the HOA, yet the address IS Perkiomen Woods c/o the management firm's name.
I had a confrontation with the management a couple years ago where management was not doing their job and I have proof. However, the management firm claimed they were following the board's edicts. Since then, the board and management have been hassling me.
And, even though I witnessed the property manager correct my name on her database, I have only received one letter from her with my correct name.
I have NEVER incurred late charge because I pay my bills in full and more than on time. Yet, now (2021) I'm being accused of not paying on time.
So I warning people to consider very carefully before buying a home with an HOA.
Lastly, most HOAs have realtors on the board. I strongly believe that this arrangement is highly prejudicial to other home owners.
Desired outcome: I wish the harassments to end.
