I had Mike Comeau come give me a quote to replace my house shingles and he showed up and presented with a sample shingle, which he said was a Malarkye shingle product. I was amazed at the weight of the shingle and called a guy helping me do some work and he said yeah this is a heavy shingle and I put those on my house. Not the same brand, but about the same weight. We made a deal based on the weight of the sample shingle, as it was much heavier than and shingle I've every held. He and his crew showed up to do the job and about when they were half way through I decided I was going to grab a couple of shingles in case I need them in the future. I picked one up and it was extremely light and I was mad and called out the owner of Newlook Exteriors, Mike Comeau and said is this? These are not the same weight as the sample you provided myself and my witness and we argued and he called out to his workers and told them to stop and wrap things up because we are out of here. I said you're not leaving my roof exposed and if you do you will be liable for any damages. They continued putting on these light weight shingles. He asked for payment and I told him as soon as you put the agreed to shingles on my roof, that I agreed to and my witness felt, I'll pay you. I have the cash here, but until I get the proper shingles put on I'll pay you. He threatened to put a lien on my house numerous times and I said go ahead because I'll see in court and I'm going to sue you to have either the shingles that were agreed to put on and I'll sue for damages, to have someone else redo my shingles. I walked away and he drove away and threatened that he was going to put a lien on my house and that I would have a copy of it within an hour. I said whatever and walked into my house. About 20 minutes later he called and said, "if I have the cash, I'll drop $1,000 off the price and that'll be that.". I told him I'd think about and after about 30 minutes I caved in and decided that I didn't want the hassle of going through the courts. I posted on social media about what had happened and I had a couple of roofing company owners, offer to come have a look at the job they did and if I got ripped off worse that I did. I agreed to have one come have a look and he told me that not only did I pay about $1,000 too much, but he found numerous deficiencies in the installation of the shingles. He took pictures and pointed many things wrong with the installation. I have sent 6 emails, called 3 times, I think and have sent at least 3 texts and no reply. He has blocked my phone number and the only other way to contact him is the company email address. He did however tell me, when I paid him, that all warranties go through him and he said good luck with that. I want these deficiencies fixed properly by him or I'll hire someone else to fix these deficiencies and he pays that bill or I take him to court and I'll be asking for a full refund because he defrauded, me by pulling a bait and switch on me. I did involve the local RCMP and they recommended that I take him to court and sue him. They also said I should go to the local, Alberta Service office and file a complaint against Mike Comeau and Newlook Exteriors!

If he does not contact me within 14 calendar days, I'll be filing a small claims case against his company!

Country of complaint: Canada

Desired outcome: For his company to fix the deficiencies, pay another company to fix them or we go to court!
