My name is Scott R. and I am writing to warn anyone that is thinking of attending New Horizon Computer Learning Center for classes to not attend. They will scam you out of your money.

December 19, 2008 the company that I had been working for laid me off due to the economy. Shortly after that I inquired about taking classes at New Horizons Computer Learning Center and the sales person Brandon Peterson talked me into taking a loan out for classes. At that time Brandon informed that if I did not utilize the funds that the full amount could simply be refunded to Sallie Mae without any problems or delay. I really wasn’t sure I wanted to go to school and after realizing that I could not go to school; I started to look for a job. In April 2009 I finally found employment as a recruiter for a company. The owner sent me to California to help open an office in San Diego, California. Since I was going to be out of town and in another State I informed Brandon that I would not be able to go to School at New Horizon and I would need the money refunded. He told me at the time it wouldn’t be a problem and that it would be a few weeks between paperwork and approvals. I thought not a problem until I got back from California and he had not done anything to start my refund. I spoke with him again and he told that he got busy and forgot. Two months went by and still nothing had been done and when I contacted Brandon again he informed that he wanted to go to Workforce Central Florida and fill for aid to pay for the loan I took out. I asked why and he said the State is currently giving money to people for education that had become unemployed within the last year. Not knowing any better I went to Workforce Central Florida and tried to apply for aid and was informed that since I was employed that I did not qualify for assistance. I called back to New Horizon to inform Brandon that I could not get assistance from Workforce Central Florida and New Horizon informed me that he no longer works there. They are also telling me that they won’t refund my monies now. I only attend five of the twelve classes in the program and I wasn’t even able to sit for 1 certification.

Do not attend this school they will rip you off.

I agree.. I was once a recent student there.. I have yet to take the Exam due to their teaching practices. Don't get me wrong the instructor knows his stuff when it comes to Cisco... But when it comes to helping you pass the test, they are horrible. Transcenders does not mimic any of the test nor look like the test. They don't teach you how to successfully attain the certification. There is a lot of short hand notation in the CCNA program. As far as getting your money back/grant back. I went through the wia program & now have to re apply for wia again due to me being homeless afterwards. Case in point New horizons is not the best School for IT certifications in Orlando nor is Tech Skills... You are better off at Valencia, Seminole State, LaSalle Technical Learning, or FTC (Florida technical College) ... Hey Robert1111 email me, I may need your assistance. @ Jedi84luke@yahoo.com

FYI - They are being monitored by a few different State agencies for these practices. If you don’t get your refund contact your local WIA office, the Governor and the Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp.
