My father, who has mild Alzheimer's Disease, was taken in by this ripoff company, probably a year ago. He got sucked in and bought the giant book. When they kept sending mailings regarding that now that he had the book, he needed others. He finally wrote a letter several months ago, explaining to them that this was all above his head and he keeps getting mailings. I called today and when I didn't have his account number because it wasn't on his July letter, the woman said that she can only talk to him and hung up on me. I called again and the same woman hung up. I called several more times and she didn't even answer, just hung up. I called again to let her know that I am his POA and she still hung up. I asked for a supervisor and she said that she was one. please make the ripoff mailings stop!

Desired outcome: I want the mailings to stop and I would love it if this ripoff company were put out of business, but judging from all the other scams he gets sucked into, I doubt that will ever happen. Shame on them. An apology letter would be nice.

Here is the practical attack plan: send a certified letter to Neothink Society with a copy of your POA and a formal revocation of any future "orders" or "memberships," demanding they remove your father's address from all mailing lists immediately. Also, call your father's bank and credit card companies to place a block on any future charges from this merchant. File a complaint with the FTC and your state's Attorney General's consumer protection division, attaching your POA and documenting the hang-ups. Finally, consider contacting your local Adult Protective Services to report potential financial exploitation. You have legal authority, so use it.
