WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM SOMEONE REPRESENTING THEMSELVES AS ATT, SAID LONG DISTANCE CARRIER ON OUR PLAN WOULD BE CHANGING WITHIN DAYS AND WOULD GO UP DRAMATICALLY UNLESS WE OPTED TO GO WITH THEM (SUPPOSEDLY ATT). THEY EXPLAINED THE PACKAGE THEY WERE OFFERING AND EXPLAINED THE AMOUNT OF SAVING BY TAKING THAT PACKAGE. THEY THEN TRANSFERRED US TO A SUPPOSED INDEPENTENT VERIFICATION COMPANY TO RECORD THAT WE WANTED TO SUBSCRIBE. WE INSTRUCTED TO JUST ANSWER YES. DURING THIS CALL NO NAME OF THE CARRIER WAS EVER SAID! THE WE GET OUR PHONE BILL ONLY TO DISCOVER IT'S **NOT** ATT, BUT BILLED AS USBI FOR NATIONAL ACCESS LONG DISTANCE! THE RESULTING BILL WAS A LOT MORE THAN WE HAD BEEN PAYING AND NOTHING WAS AS REPRESENTED IN THE CALL. IT'S TAKEN 3 MONTHS TO GET THIS STRAIGHTENED OUT AND TO GET THEM TO QUIT BILLING US FOR SERVICES NOT PROVIDED.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The same thing happened to me in December of 2011. In my case, Long Distance Access substituted the Verizon Company.
