We purchased a vacation package through digital vacation quests or southern journeys or whoever they go by now, 5 years ago. We paid it off 2 years ago and we’re looking forward to traveling. When we went to the pitch we were initially saying “no” because it was a lot of money for us at the time. After over 2 1/2 hours of them bringing a new person over to talk to us (basically holding us hostage as they wouldn’t give us our gift card or free trip info), and then giving us a “discount” and 3 “free” weeks we finally caved. We were told some resorts would be pet friendly, we found out last year when we booked a trip that “none of the resorts are pet friendly, I’m sorry they told you they were”. So lie #1. Whatever, we boarded the dogs and took our trip. They were also pushing trip insurance, which we declined at the time. Fast forward to last Jan. We booked another trip for Mass. in Nov and this time did buy the trip insurance just in case. we unfortunately have to cancel, and the trip insurance is no good. It’s not how the portrayed it when they initially were trying to sell it to us for the Colorado trip, or after when I had talked to a lady. They claimed it would save our money and week if we needed to cancel for any reasons, but now they’re saying it’s only if you die, which you provide a death certificate, or you give them access to your medical records if it’s for a medical reason, which is wildly inappropriate. So not only are they saying we lose our vacation week, but also our money, including the extra we paid for trip insurance. This company is complete trash, and they’re liars. Whatever you do DON’T BUY INTO THEM. No matter how good of a deal it sounds. I’m the pitch they say all their resorts are nice and 3 star on up. The one we have stayed in so far, had a hole in the ceiling, and the tiles in the shower were coming up and the pool wasn’t even open even though it was in the summer. But we overlooked that and focused on having a great time. Our real issue is the fact that we have to cancel our trip in Nov. and they’re saying even though we purchased the trip insurance, we’ll still lose our week and money. That’s what really did it for us. We want a refund and to keep our week, or they can refund us all the money we’ve paid into them, except the $350 or whatever it was for the one trip we have taken so far. Otherwise they need to be shut down and everyone needs to get the money they’ve spent on them back.
Desired outcome: Refund or credit for our week we need to cancel
I agree. This company needs to be shut down.
I have been a member for over 20 years.
I first booked vacation weeks with Plan with TAN. Then it was Travel Advantage Network and now is Vacation Quest\Global Connections\Southern Journeys.
I have been trying to get a vacation week for the past 4 years and they have not been able to provide me with a property so I can take my family on vacation. Last year I was willing to drive all the way to North Carolina a 7 hour drive and even then they were incapable of providing me a property.
How do these people get away with this?
Has anyone out there consulted a lawyer about this?
If so and you've been successful please let people know because there are a lot of us in this same position.
