In the end of February 2017 my elderly and disabled father in law was to move in with us to receive hospice care. We hired LuRox in February of 2017 to create a bedroom in our basement out of a living room, widen a doorway to make it handicap accessible and replace some flooring in the basement. We should have been wary from the beginning as the project manager Stacey, did not show up for the consultation and was late when we rescheduled. We were told that the project could be done the following week. The project proceeded in phases spread out over a month or two. At this point, there were still many aspects of the project to be done. We had to continually call/ text to find out when someone would come by to finish the work. Communication was terrible. Sometimes it would take a week or more to get a response to our inquiries, sometimes we got no response at all and had to keep calling until someone texted us back. Weeks turned into months as we waited for a special order window to come in so that the new bedroom was up to fire code. After months of waiting, we were told that Home Depot botched the special order twice. Then the window was ordered from a different company. Again, no communication from LuRox. We had to consistently reach out to them about the status of our project. We were then told by the owner, Scott, that there would be added cost to our project for inspections. When asked how much this would cost, he answered around $650. My husband called him to inquire about this added cost. Scott then backpedaled and said that the inspections were not actually necessary (but thought we’d want them). He also told my husband at one point that he wasn’t making that much money on our project. (Possibly why we received such poor customer service?) As time went on it seemed that they were less willing to respond. Last week we were told that someone would be by around 10 am on a certain day. No one showed, no one called. We reached out to them and were told someone would come the next day. No one did. We reached out to them again and after several days of waiting for a response we were told that they were not "available" to work on our project and would give our number to another contractor. We were never contacted by this other contractor. As I write this, it is the end of July 2017, five and a half months after our project began! Baseboard was never laid, a piece of drywall on the ceiling of our bathroom is still unfinished, no window, or inspection completed for the new bedroom to make it an official bedroom. One side of the closet doors that were installed do not hang properly and will not open or close as they should. LuRox refuses to come back to resolve these issues. We have always treated them with respect and professionalism so the lack of follow through and lack of communication are baffling. We would not recommend LuRox Homes to anyone. It is a mystery how a company like this can stay in business when they treat their customers this way.
