On the 31st of August, I popped into the Long & McQuade Musical Instruments store on Danforth Rd, with a wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket. I had $3000.00 to spend and I was ready to make a purchase.

I asked one of the employees if I could try out a LP Tribute in one of the sound rooms. I tuned it up and played it unplugged for a little while, just to get a feel for its sound. When I came out of the room, I realized my mask had slipped down off my nose a bit.

At that moment, one of the younger salespeople decided to make a fuss. The guy started shouting at me across the entire store. He said, "Hey, we wear masks here!" It embarrassed me in front of all the other customers who were around.

Needless to say, I was not impressed. I decided that there was no need to put up with this kind of treatment, so I walked out of the store. Why make a spectacle out of something so small and trivial?

It's too bad, really. I was looking forward to spending some of that cash at Long & McQuade. But now, I'm not so sure. Maybe I'll take my business elsewhere.

Last Thursday, me and the missus had ourselves a trip to the Long & McQuade Musical Instruments store in Surrey located along the 104th. Let me tell you, I was floored by the exceptional customer service we got. We needed to have a peg and string fixed up, and the technician took care of it in a jiffy. Not only that, but he even gave it a good tuning and polishing. We also picked up some other gear, and the same service man patiently answered all our questions. It's so refreshing to see a store that puts its customers first, unlike some of the other shops that could learn a lesson or two from Long & McQuade. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be recommending this place to anyone interested in buying musical equipment or products. Heck, I'm so darn impressed with the customer service, I might even come back for a jam session!

In 2008, I made a big purchase at Long & McQuade Musical Instruments. The guitar I was after was an Almansa Professional Jacaranda Classical and cost me a whopping $4,900. The salesman who helped me out, Jeremy Shaw, endorsed this guitar, which was reassuring. However, I had some questions regarding the guitar’s features. Specifically, I asked if the ad stating that the guitar had Brazilian rosewood was accurate. Mr Shaw couldn’t provide me with a straight answer but did admit that he had limited knowledge of classical guitars.

When I received my shiny new guitar, I was quite disappointed to learn that it wasn’t made of the highly valued Brazilian rosewood I was promised, but rather Madagascar rosewood. Indeed, the tag on the guitar keys identified the type of wood as BZN, which stands for rosewood.

When I contacted Shaw about this matter, he seemed to have had a change of heart. Now, he was “95% sure the guitar wasn’t Brazilian rosewood.” Unfortunately, the value of my guitar took a hit once I learned about this. I tried selling my Almansa guitar for a while but, unfortunately, had no luck. I recently gave it away instead.

Overall, my experience at Long & McQuade was disappointing. I didn’t appreciate receiving a guitar that differed from what I was promised, nor the wishy-washy attitude of the salesman. I hope that Long & McQuade can improve their level of expertise regarding the products they sell, so that future customers don’t have to go through what I went through.

I must say that Long & McQuade Musical Instruments (long-mcquade.com) is a great place to buy your musical instruments. I have been a guitar collector for many years, and I have bought several instruments from this store. However, most of the time I bought them from other stores or online, as the customer service in my local store in Nanaimo was not up to the mark.

The staff in the Nanaimo store were not very helpful or welcoming. They never seemed to be interested to offer their assistance, and I was always left wondering if they were there to visit each other instead of helping their customers. The salesmen were not too impressive either. They seemed to be just average in their approach, thus they never stood out when compared to other stores. And as for their manager - he's always hiding away and never interacts with the customers. Perhaps this explains why the sales staff never appear to be happy or eager to assist their customers. If they don't want to be there, maybe they should consider changing their profession?

In general, I noticed that the team's attitude was a reflection of the management. That said, despite the less than stellar experience at my local store, I have had many good experiences shopping with Long & McQuade. They have a wide range of musical instruments available, and their online store is convenient for those who can't find what they need in their local store. If you know what you're looking for and don't need much assistance, Long & McQuade is a great option.

Overall, while the customer service at my local store was disappointing, I still recommend Long & McQuade Musical Instruments for their selection and convenience. Just be prepared to do your research and know exactly what you want beforehand to avoid any disappointment.

Honestly, I had a bit of a rough time with Long & McQuade Musical Instruments. It seems like every time I placed an order, it took ages to arrive. It frustrated me to learn that they were also pushing me to buy not just one, but two more expensive cabinets instead of the affordable unit that they were keeping permanently "out of stock".

After dealing with these issues, I am reluctantly concluding that I am done with Long & McQuade. Overall, I am disappointed by their customer service, which I feel is inadequate and lacking in transparency. I hope that in the future they will take steps to improve their practices and address the issues that have driven me away as a customer.

I had an experience with Long & McQuade Musical Instruments (long-mcquade.com) and was pretty surprised. I was buying a used guitar from them and they agreed to trade in my instrument to reduce their sticker price. Victoria, the front desk manager, said they would give me $126 off the price for my traded-in instrument. However, when I went to pay, he said they would only get $70 back from the $126 value, so $70 is all they would give me off the price of the used guitar I was buying from them. What happened to taking $126 off their sticker price? Now it was just $70!

I felt a little sneaky move and slimy move happened to me, and then the guy had the guts to ask if I also wanted to buy their extended warranty of their USED guitar? I was being treated like a gullible idiot. I feel screwed over and disappointed in Long & McQuade's sneaky gouging of this good customer. I will not take my business there again. Beware of trade-in value given tricks, and watch for their shell game/greed dance at the till! It hurts to be treated like a laughable fool. L&M lost me with that stunt! Do not feed this shark if you don't want to be tricked.

Long & McQuade Musical Instruments is one of the largest music stores in Canada. I have been to their store a few times, but I have never been excited to spend money there. It's not that the store is bad, it's just that the competition is worse. They have a lot of issues that I have come across.

One problem I've had is with their broken strings. They won't refund them on the date of purchase, which is frustrating. Apparently, it's my issue to resolve, not theirs to handle. Another issue I've faced is with their rental program. They told me certain instruments weren't available for rent, but then I saw someone renting the exact same instrument from the same store. That really made me doubt their honesty.

I have to also mention the customer service that I experienced at Long & McQuade. It was abysmal, to say the least. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Another problem was with their buy-back program. They would screw you over when you sell an item back to them, then screw over the customer who buys it. It just doesn't seem like a fair deal for anyone.

The products at Long & McQuade are also disgustingly overpriced. I don't see how they can justify the prices they charge. Finally, the repair department was another big issue for me. They generally cannot set up an instrument as well as I could when I was 15.

To sum it up, I will go to Long & McQuade Musical Instruments to try things out, but I'll find a dealer as local as possible to spend my money. For repairs, I will find local repair guys, and I'll set up any of my friends' instruments for free. Long & McQuade Musical Instruments have lost a future customer due to their lack of quality service.

I'm a music lover from Ottawa and I recently had a really cool experience with Long & McQuade Musical Instruments. I had a small problem with my guitar that needed to be fixed and I decided to go to the Kanata, ON location. The staff there was very friendly and accommodating and they directed me to the Master Repair Technician, John Chambers. I called him and he answered right away, which was really impressive. I explained my issue and he told me to bring my guitar in as soon as possible, which I did.

When I got there, John took a look at my guitar and fixed the problem in under an hour. But he didn't just fix that one issue, he also gave it a complete overhaul and made it sound better than ever before. It was amazing!

I want to commend the entire staff at the Kanata Long & McQuade location for being so helpful. They answered all of my questions and were very patient with me. I had rented, then eventually bought an electric guitar and an amp for my son, and that experience was also great.

I'm really lucky to have Long & McQuade in my city. It provides a great service for music lovers like me. Thank you to John Chambers for saving the day for me and for being such a skilled and personable Master Repair Technician. And thanks to Long & McQuade for being amazing!

Long & McQuade Musical Instruments ain't too bad of a place, but sometimes the folks working there seem more interested in shooting the breeze with each other than helping a customer out. In particular, the drum department could use some serious improvement - them guys seem like they don't know their bass from their snare half the time. But other than that, it's a decent joint to pick up some gear, especially if you're on a budget and looking for some used items. Don't expect the Ritz-Carlton of music stores, but it'll do the trick in a pinch.

Long & McQuade Musical Instruments is a pretty good store, but they could do better at keeping their online hours accurate. I looked them up on Google to see when they were open and it seemed like they were available. I thought it was gonna be a one-stop-shop but when I got there, it was closed! I was so disappointed, man. I had to drive an hour and waste all that gas, only to find out they weren't open for business.

I seriously think that they should get their act together and do a better job of keeping their online information updated. They should take better care of their Google My Business listing, so that people don't waste their time driving all the way out there only to find they're closed.
