I hired this company to fix my irrigation system, repair significant leaks in the irrigation, and install sod. Two days prior to the start of the job, the owner advised me that he would be gone for a few days, but he had someone very skilled overseeing the job. The guys showed up two days later to start the job. They weren't on the job for 15 minutes, and the guy running the job was doing whatever he could to get me to drop the company I hired and retain him to do the complete job. He walked around the yard telling me everything that was wrong, and he said he was being directed to improperly install the irrigation system. This guy sends me text after text listing what they were doing wrong. The sod was scheduled to be delivered the following day (Friday), it wasn't delivered. I spoke to the owner of the landscaping company and asked if he wanted me to rent a Uhaul truck and pick it up. He told me no; it was rescheduled to be delivered the following day. The sod did not show up the following day. They used a pickup truck and spent two days picking up the sod. At this time, I found out the owner was on the Dominican Republic and would be gone for two weeks! Had I known this, I would've waited or found another company to do the job. The guys were installing the sod and the main guy was throwing sod on rock and telling me "Look at what he's directing me to do, you are going to have serious issues with all of this." After the sod was down, I walked across the yard, and it was like walking on a terrain! There're areas where you could break an ankle by falling in a hole. When I asked the owner about it, he said "the sod comes in different thickness, this is normal (while he was in the DR)." They finished up with the sod and I told the guy running the job that the leaks still need to be fixed. The major leak was at the main irrigation lines coming from the house, and where the wires for the controller was. The guy shut off the main water control and shoveled dirt and over the area and buried the wires and covered the leaks. There were plastic covers there to be used to protect the wiring and connections, and he just threw them to the side and left it. The irrigation couldn't be turned on because he shut off the main water valve. I then see one of the guys loading sod back into the truck. I asked him what he was doing, and he said the owner sold it! When I questioned the owner (who's still in the DR) why he is selling my sod, and he said, "I'm not selling it, they're just dropping it off at my house." I had to go out and buy sprinklers and a new hose (they broke the one I had) to keep the sod alive. So, almost 3 weeks later the owner came home and dug out the stuff the other guy buried and got the irrigation going. Of course, the leak is still there. I have about 20 pieces of dead sod because they forgot to put irrigation in one area. I have contacted the owner and he's told me a couple times he would be over; he never came back. This company previously repaired the irrigation in the front yard using old sprinkler heads and it looks like a fire hydrant in the yard, and he was also paid to install sprinklers, or a drip system in my plants in the front, and never did it. When I spoke to this owner about all of this, he felt it was a cheap learning experience. I forgot to mention in the middle of all this, he added over $1000 on to the bill. My husband has decided to file small claims against the owner and his company, as we have to pay out even more money to have all the sprinklers replaced, the leak repaired, and all the dead sod replaced and installed correctly.
