Purchased new home from this builder because they guarantee quality according to the CEO advertisement. Moved in last October 29th with a five-page list of punch list items. One of the items on the list was the installation of the laminated flooring. I have a soft spot in the hallway due to subsurface low spot. I have pictures during construction showing the low spot to be corrected before installation of the flooring. Needless to say, it never got corrected. Now the flooring soft spot became obviously noticeable as you walk over it.
The installer has been to the house about four time to check the levelness of the flooring. His position is that his contract with K Hovnanian is 3/16 of an inch in 6 feet. Upon checking with Mannington, the manufacture, I received a copy of the recommended installation guidelines. It states the laminated flooring installation should be 1/8 inch in 6 feet. This means the warranty is voided if not installed in according with the recommended guidelines. K Hovnanian refused to repair the flooring.
Desired outcome: Want the flooring repaired or compensation to have the floor repaired by another contractor.
