On Wednesday, April 27 I had an appointment at the JCP In Style Salon at the wyoming valley mall in Wilkes-Barre, PA with Diana. I specifically wanted a spiral perm without a haircut. When I got there I explained to her that I curled my hair with a curling iron every day and had to use hairspray on it. (My hair is completely straight). I showed her a picture of what I wanted my curls to look like. She said ok but they won't look exactly like that. I understood it wouldn't look exactly like the picture but I thought they'd be similar. She started to comb my hair despite having hairspray on it. It was very hard to do and was pulling it before she said we'll just wash it. Before she finished washing it she started to tell me about this product, which was $20.00 extra, that did not leave that horrible perm smell lingering in you hair. I did agree to it because who wants to smell that perm for days and that it allowed you to wash your hair the next day. When we got back to the chair, she got her rollers. She DID NOT roll the rods as a spiral perm should be rolled. After she put the solution on, she left me sitting there until the timer went off. When the timer did go off she continued folding towels until she was done. Then she took me back and rinsed my hair and took the rods out. When I got back to the chair I could tell they WERE NOT spiral curls. I told her I was tired of curling and spraying my hair and just wanted to wash it and go and have curls in it.. Honestly there were hardly any curls. She pulled out her dryer and a mousse product she said I should use. Then asked how much she could trim off.. I said very little.. I did not want my hair cut. I explained that it has taken me almost 20 years to get my hair done because I had a bad experience before. I could tell it was not what I wanted or anywhere near what a spiral perm curl should look like. But at this point what was I supposed to do. She then went to check me out and pulled the product off the shelf (it was 4 trial size products) she said it was on sale for $10.00. It cost me a total of $136.00. When I got home and looked at it there were strands that had no curl at all. My hair looks like I just rolled out of bed and didn't comb my hair for days. I am very disappointed that I did not get what I wanted from a stylist, who on their jcp bio, claims to specialize in custom perms and has been doing this for 25 years.
