In May 2020 Conbeer Construction provided a quote for 13,500 that was accepted by Jack Miller for a deck extension. $8,000 was given upfront as a deposit and another $3,000 a few weeks later. The timeframe relayed by the contractor for completion was 3-4 weeks. Conbeer construction was still not complete after 6 months. He was continually asked to complete the project only to not show up for days at a time. Due to the large downpayment required we could not just fire the contractor. During the construction, Mr. Conbeer completely destroyed 50% of our lawn which we had to have a professional come in and fix the next year along with the railing warping and becoming unusable. At the six-month mark around the beginning of October, we informed Conbeer construction that given we have paid 11,000 of the 13,000 quote we wanted him to completely stop construction and leave the remainder of the deck unfinished. At the beginning of January 2021 Conbeer Construction proceeded to send us another invoice totaling 26,000, double what they had initially quoted and we informed him that due to his poor construction, and not completing the job we would not be paying anymore. This was a recorded face-to-face conversation in which Conbeer Construction agreed that we would go our separate ways. Conbeer Construction is now taking us to collections and has been harassing us for the last few months.
Desired outcome: I would like the collections and the harassment to stop.
