My Freelander has 3127 miles on it since I purchased in 2016 from Dave Arbogast R.V. in Dayton Ohio. A very loud rubbing noise has been emanating since we purchased the coach from the passenger seat area. The noise was so loud the passenger seat was almost unusable. The problem was identified to be where the entrance wall and the floor meet. The laminated plywood was not secured properly to where the wall and floor meet. The rubbing of the plywood was unbearable. We are from Alaska and picked up our Freelander to begin our retirement travels. I took the Freelander to a repair facility and our premium extended warranty administrator identified the issue as a manufacturing defect and would not honor the claim. The solution to the problem included removing the passenger side molding covering the wall and floor trim. Once that task was completed 2.5 and 3 inch star head screws were angled in at 45degrees to secure the wall and floor. The completion of this task solved the issue. After the first screw was inserted we test drove the Freelander to monitor the rubbing and concluded that only approximately 70% of the rubbing noise was gone, 3 additional screws were added at the wall base to end the noisy issue for good. I also would like to let you know that it was a tad disappointing to see the shoddy workmanship beneath the trim panels. There was scrap metal cut from the coach stuffed in the wall frame, the vinyl on the floor was cut uneven barely covered by the trim and the trim upon closer inspection did not match up properly. This is our first motorhome purchase and I am wondering now about commitment to craftsmanship from Forest River technicians
I am sure Mr Buffet would not approve of the workmanship practices.
I am respectfully requesting that Forest River reimburse the cost for the repair to my Freelander. I hope you will contact me at the email address or phone number listed below so I can forward the invoice and a few pictures I snapped during the repair process.
Thanking you in advance for your consideration.
