I had an IPL done to my face and chest by dr Susan Rabizadeh Dec 20th 2020 and she completely burned me.

I had this same procedure done to the face only in the past with this same doctor and everything had gone smoothly. This time we decided the chest had sun damage and that it would be a good idea to include it.

During the procedure, I was numbed so I did not feel much pain but a few hours later I started to feel burning pains in particular on my chest. A few days later I literally looked like a burned victim and I had bubbles with pus on my chest. This could not be right! I sent a picture to Dr Rabizadeh and she had me come in right away. When I went in she said that I looked a bit burned and she could not understand how that happened but she told me to wait and felt that all will heal.

I kept going in once a month for a few months and eventually I was left with red scars and dark spots and later on some became white. Dr Rabizadeh told me to be patient and keep monitoring the spots. A year later mostly white spots and some dark spots were left and at this point, the doctor admitted that these will be permanent. She explained that when you lose the pigment you cannot bring it back and there was nothing she could do.

I was mortified; my chest was one of my best features and I was now forced to cover it up, no more v necks or tube tops..

I considered taking legal action against the doctor who did that to me, but I felt bad, she was a nice lady that had made a mistake. I knew she was sorry! I had been going to her for years for all dermatology needs.

Suing her would not have reversed the irreparable damage done to my chest. Desperately I tried to research if there were any solutions to my problem and a plastic surgeon recommended a clinic Basma Hameed where they use tattoo technique to match the pigment and camouflage the scar so it disappears.

I went in for a consultation and they told me I was a great candidate and gave me an estimate. At that point, I reached out to dr Rabizadeh and asked her if Cedars would cover this procedure which seems to be the only option out there that would mitigate the damage she had caused. I told her that this would be the minimum that CEDARS could do after all I had to go through and after what they had done to my chest. At first she replied saying she would look into it and after completely disappeared.

I am appalled by her behavior and by the way CEDARS handle this whole incident. I was not asking for much, the procedure was $4500 only.

I should have sued when I could.

I now know why the doctor told me to be patient and wait that all will clear so that I will wait until the state of limitation was reached which is 1 year from when the incident occurred.

Desired outcome: I demand to get reimbursed for the fee I was charged for the IPL that burned me-I demand that CEDARS reimburse me for the procedure at Basma Hameed clinic and reimburse me for my visit to a different dermatologist for a 2nd opinion
