I joyce chandler received a notice from the il tollway stating i owe $3, 800.00 for failing to pay toll fee dating back to 11/09 up to 10/10. I requested a hearing and informed the person conducting the hearing that i was unaware of this activity and my old car was left at my daughter's residence in wisconsin. I also inquired why i wasn't informed before this bill ran up to thousands of dollars. The representative told me they have a right to wait up to 2 years to notify the individual. I'm a single parent and grandmother trying to run a household. I'm never neglected to pay any tollway fees and told them it must have been my daughter who doesn't even have a job. It's impossibe for me to come up with that can of money by 12/1/10 and if not paid by that date the fines will be increased to $7, 000.00. They were able to reduce 1, 500.00 dollars during the hearing but had no such thing as a payment plan. I seeking for an opportunity to make payments monthly.

Hi Joyce my name is Unique. I currently work the Illinois Tollway Customer Service Center. I'm very sorry that they didn't inform you about the increase in your violation. However what happens is whenever you miss a toll we allow you 7 days to pay the amount of the toll online before an actual violation is trigged. Your allowed to miss 3 tolls every 2 years after the third one they do send you a notice in which its a 20$ attached to each toll that you missed. Which causes the increase in the violation if that amount isn't paid within 21 days then the notice will escalate adding 50's onto the 20's. So in essence if not paid youll be paying the tolls plus 70$ attached to each one missed. I will tell you that we don't offer payment plans, I don't know if your violation is currently in collections but you can try and contact the collection agency to see if they can cut some money off of it or give you a settlement. If you have an I-pass acct that also works in your favor as they do cut the amount down significantly giving you what we call an I-pass settlement in which you pay ALL TOLLS and SOME 20's NO 50's. I can tell you that we don't accept payment plans however we can't turn down money if you wanted to call in and pay off maybe the tolls and then maybe pay off some 20's as well to try and decrease. But we do take money towards the violation we just don't dismiss you if you don't want to pay the full amount. So you can call us at 1800-UC-IPASS and inform them that you maybe want to try and pay some tolls. Some people call in and just pay for one violation even though they have several. So you can try it. I understand your situation and I hope that this helps you in the long run!
