Hong Leong Bank Malaysia review: Attempted to open a saving account in Hong Leong Bank

Attempted to open a saving account at Hong Leong Bank due to recent attractive FD interest rate. Waited for about an hour till number called. A lady (who seems to be supervisor / manager) asked about the purpose of open account. I told her the reason and had been questioned whether it is real. I was so confused when she said so and asked for clearer explanation. She pulled me to the side of the counter and told me due to recent cases of people opened a saving account and sold the account to other people for scam and criminal cases. So she had to tell me that even I intend to open a saving account today, it might not get through the system and might be rejected too. She even asked me why do I want to open another account since I already have account in 2 banks. I told her that I was attracted with the FD interest rate and would like to transfer money to it. She warned that Many verifications and documents required to provide and I got to be honest. I felt so offended and told her about my feeling too. She said she cannot help if I think so. But she still needs to tell me this. I tried to control my anger and asked her what kind of verification and documents needed. She said my personal details, company I work with and detail information. I was wondering that these were normal verification and documents which every one shall able to provide. I told her that’s no problem for that, so how come she needs to purposely warn me about that, is it that I’m looking like a criminal or what? She said she didn’t say that and just wanted to tell me that I might not be successful to open a saving account. My anger was booming so quickly that I left the bank and went to MBB which I had been treated at least fair as a kind human being.
