Harmon Tires has been very bad in rendering their service to the customers, has been very disrespectful to their customers and very bad in honoring the time commitments made to their customers. All in all a sure shot for wasting time and money if customers choose to go here for getting any sort service.
I've had nothing but excellent service from Harmon Tire in Ellsworth. They are always prompt, respectful and courteous, and off exceptional products at a resonable price.
What great service! I always get the best sevice and price from Harmon's.
My husband and I have always been very pleased with the service, prices, courteousness, etc. at Harmon Tire. We highly recommend them to friends.
My family has been using Harmon Tire for about 30 years and have always been happy with their service. They are always busy so sometimes you have to wait awhile but the workers are fast, knowledgeable and very helpful. The place is spotless and my wife loves that they always have lots of bright flowers in front of the building every summer. We recommend them to everyone we know!
They see VERY few people a day. their work load may SEEM high but is not at all. Maby for maine standards. terrible business. overpriced...It may seem like your getting a great price, but for the rest of the country, it is actually a higher price. Its a shame that people go to a mechanic just because they plant flowers out front...I believe that is a good way for kidnappers and rapists to get ahold of children and weak minded adults.
I find that the people working the counter are courteous, knowledgeable, and always accommodating, and any tire work that I have had done has been top-notch. When I brought my '98 Subaru in for a free tire rotation and told them that one tire was losing air, they removed the tire and found some corrosion on the alloy rim. They then wire-brushed the rim and re-mounted the tire with some sealant, AT NO CHARGE.
And all of my neighbors take their cars and trucks there, and think that the 26 mile drive each way is worth it.
Harmons is full of stupid people who only care about money. Albert and the general manager are crooks. Take it from someone who knows what it is like on the inside. I used to work there
I have been to many tire stores. The reason I came upon this posting was that I was doing a search for when they are open in the morning. I live in Machias Maine and it is over 64 miles and about 1 1 /2 hours of driving some of the worst roads in Washington County . (and that's ONE WAY!) I will drive by many other tire garages, because it is worth the trip to Harmons! Harmons, by far, has been, with out a doubt the best tire store I have ever been to. They have fixed problems that I have spent thousands on at other garages. My harmon himself has been very helpful and friendly. He takes great care and personal intrest in my car, my safty, and my famly's safty, which means a lot to me for service. All of the staff there are very friendly, knowledgeable, and courtious. As long as I am driving a vehicle with tires on it, and as long as Harmons stays in business with the service that Mr Harmon has built a great business around, That's where I'll be getting my tires changed in the morning, and a front end alignment if it needs it. (ps. I think any negative postings against Harmon Tire is from his competition!) cjs
On 9/28/09 I went into Harmon Tire for an oil change and a safety inspection sticker.
They failed the car on the reson that the rear tires and front shock &/or strut assembley was needed.
The wear bars on the rear tires are well below the tread. The car passes the bonce test. This car has
no struts.
Their quote for the front is $438.86 for parts and $146.80 for labor. Another shop looked up the price for the
front shocks to be $53 each and estimated 1.5 hours to replace. High end KYB gas shocks are $82.58 each.

The other shop could not find any thing wrong with the suspension after doing a very complete check. They passed the car for inspection.
A copy of their estimate is attached. It includes the vehicle make and vin number.

I will not be going there again.
My family has used Harmon's for years. Sadly, we have all individually started going elsewhere. Customer service has changed, I never go in the garage even CLOSE to my scheduled appt. time even when I'm early, and I've had issues about them not looking very hard for tires I want. I've bought 20 or more tires from them, and the last several times I had to do research on my own to find the tires they told me "Don't exist". In one instance, I just turned around and studied one of the DISPLAY models they had there... it was the tire and size I wanted and the woman told me they didn't make them! She grumpily did another search and found out they were even in stock!
Another time, they told me they only had 2 options of tires for a VERY common truck tire size. I went down the road an they had 9 options for me with prices. I went back to Harmon's giving them the benifit of the doubt. I got the woman (same one from before) to do another search for a specific tire I wanted. She grumbled as she found it, and quoted me $200 more than the company down the road, and that was with the other companies "hazard protection" as well. Very disappointing.
I recently had my car inspected at Harmons. The car failed and they told me it would cost $850+ for the repairs. I decided to get an estimate from my mechanic, for which he estimated $390. He completed the job and it was $350. I can understand they have higher overhead and rates, but $500 more for the same job? Either they are incompetent or crooks.
Well, I was looking for a decent tire store and needless to say, I will NOT be going there.
After carefully reading the comments before my post, I noticed that the clientele who are for Harmon's aren't even literate.
The clientele whom oppose Harmon's service seem to be able to properly spell a simple word like "courteous", so I know who's opinion I would more than likely agree with after checking elsewhere for the same service :-)
Thanks for the original post to bring these crooks to my attention!
I never had a problem with Harmon's. And judging their comment by a spelling (typo?) error is stupid. I highly recommend Harmon's. You get what you pay for.
