Sub: Complaint Letter

To whom it may concern

On the 31st August 2022 my cell phone was stolen out of my bag at the Gym company while I was in the shower. I brought it to the branch manager attention, Wynand. I asked Wynand if he could look at the cameras to see who entered the bathroom after me. He decided to do so but complained that he couldn’t see clearly on the cameras and wasn’t sure who moves in and out of the bathroom. He then agreed that I go ahead and look at all the ladies’ bags in the bathroom to search for my cell phone. The members of the gym and staff members were welcoming to the suggestion and did not reject my approach to resolve the matter. During the search of my cell phone the members of the gym brought to my attention that cell phones are taken out of bags daily. So this was clearly not the first time.

On 1st September I decided to inform members about the safety of their cell phones and wish to draw a petition to make head office aware of the situation. Before approaching the members I advised the aforementioned manager about the decision. He was very unfriendly and had no remorse of the situation I was in. He had no sense of sympathy to the horrific experience I had to endure. It felt as if the situation should only be accepted and that there is absolutely nothing, he can do to support that this situation should be put to a stop.

During my approach by informing members of what happened and advising that they should the aware, Wynand approached me on the floor and became agitated, aggressive and was verbally abusing me in front of everyone. He mentioned that my membership will be blocked immediately as per the instruction of his area manager. He continued to say that I should F ….. out of the place. I regret to state that I’ve had a gym membership for about +- seven years now. Today is the 05/09/2022, I have so much fear and hesitation to return to a place that I once called my happy place and place where I release my stress and anxiety.

I am calling on management to please investigate this matter as it is a measure of importance and security to every member at the gym company.

Desired outcome: That the gym company would deal with the branch manager accordingly and that a better security system should be implemented to secure our goods.
