On 9/26/23 my wife (Sandra R Haynie) was admitted to this hospital after a fall at home. She had a concussion and was a patient until her discharge on 10/3/23. On several occasions during her stay she had episodes of what appeared to be "panic attacks with severe breathing difficulties, bad coughing and a racing pulse. Nothing was ever really done to determine the cause prior to her release. On 10/4/23 she experienced another attach at home. Contacted our family doctor who instructed me to take her to ER at Novant. ER doctor there took Xray and found that she had pulmonary edema and had gained 14.8 lbs while at Grand Strand. She was admitted to Novant and spent 4 days being treated. Had we not sought treatment she could have died. Where the hell was Grand Strand in allowing her to leave with no effort to treat a life threating condition? Wrote letter to CEO for explanation. Their answer was pathetic, claiming that they had failed "to communicate clearly"? What they failed to do was recognize a serious condition existed and discharged a patient who could have died due to their negligence.
