This woman has more lawsuits against her that can be counted. Recently, Judge Yuille in Genesee Count ordered canctions of over $19, 000.00 be paid to myself and my attorney in a case that dragged on for over 3 years with this woman. In the meantime, her Township sucessfully sued her, and the judge in THAT case ordered her to pay their legal fees. Puppy buyers who have sued her to get her to hone her guarantee (they have puppies who are dysplastic and have cost thousands in vet bills, and she will not return their calls, emails, letters, or even show up in court) AND because she was suspended by the AKC for 10 years they cannot get registration papers as she promised, are also owed thousands of dollars. She has left the Gordon Road property, leaving horses and many cats there, and take her dogs to an undiclosed property in either Gladwin, the Saginaw area, or Harrison. She claims to be raising and training "service dogs". She produced hundreds of puppies a year, has failed to pay income taxes since 1992 (the IRS has now got a lien on her Fenton property which is in foreclosure), and always seems to be able to get away with these things. There is a bench warrant for her arrest for failure to make a scheduled payment to one of the puppy buyers who successfully sued her.
My attorney worked hard for 3.5 years and deserves to be paid the remainder of his legal fees, and I want what was awarded to me (although it doesn't come close to what I've already paid.)

There will be justice. She and her boyfriend were arraigned on felony animal abuse/neglect charges. There are now enough people who she has harmed who will testify against her.
All of those poor animals...

Update by Justice

She actually was in court in Clare County on Thursday the 9th for arraignment on the felony animal abuse and neglect charges. The court date on the 13th is sentencing on a misdemeanor in Livingston County, and then she is back again on the 23rd for a small claims hearing that she has been ordered to pay on. Then she is back in Clare County on the felony charges.

Schulz received 15 days in the Livingston County Jail on 4/13 for "animal at large" charges. Usually not a charge to be incarcerated for, but since she has many more of the same, they jailed her.

Update by Justice
Apr 19, 2009 3:54 pm EDT

Because the charges in Livingston County were misdemeanor charges, and the ones in Clare COunty are felony charges, it would make sense that sentencing would be more severe.

Kimberly Schulz was arrested this morning in Harrison, MI. Word is that she was in violation of the terms of her probation - not being allowed to be around animals - and will be in jail for two years.

She is in jail right now in Livingston County, apparently to serve two years. She'll get an additional 2 on the Harrison charges probably.

She is out of jail. For now.

I don't know why they don't hol her over. She's proven to be unreliable for appearing in court. She doesn't pay fines and court ordered restitutions. Probabtion rules mean nothing to her. Taxes, mortgage payments, dog licenses - those are for OTHER people, not HER. It is amazing.

I just corresponded with Livingston County. A payment plan was set up and Schulz was released. That's funny - she's never adhered to any payment plan before.

It would appear that the church "charity" intends to breed their own "comfort dogs". They know nothing about what that entails, or else they would not be using GoldRocks dogs as their foundation. Those dogs have been in a closed colony for so long that the inbreeding is frightening - fathers to daughters, mothers to sons, brothers to sisters. No reputable breeders wanted to sell dogs to her, or allow her to breed to their dogs, so she was stuck with her own. And genetic health issues are rampant in these dogs - ie hip dysplasia and eye problems - and using these dogs for breeding will only perpetuate them. It is my understanding that there have been issues with aggression among these animals, as well - which may be environmental to some extent, but the shyness and timidity seen in youngsters is incorrect temperament for Golden Retrievers, and also should not be reproduced.

Update by Justice
May 21, 2009 10:54 am EDT

She has always done this - when the "heat" is on, she moves and hides dogs. She used to take them somewhere in the Cleveland area, but I believe that she burned that bridge a long time ago. Prior to the seizure in Clare, it is believed that she moved the younger, more "valuable" (read that "breedable") dogs back to the Fenton property (her husband was in that home). She may have someone in Midland, and maybe still someone in Gladwin. Or, people from the Church "Charity" could have taken some. It never ceases to amaze me how much she is able to get away with. I understand that authorities have to follow the letter of the law, and that the wheels of justice move slowly (if at all, and in Schulz's case, they seem to move in reverse.) Her actions are unconscionable, and the fact that she feels no remorse, would certainly fit the definition of sociopath.

thecla, I am so sorry for you. This woman has spread pain and heartbreak like this for years. To dogs AND people. She shows no remorse, and always always blames someone else. It is the buyer's fault if the dog is dysplastic. It is the buyer's fault if the dog has eye problems. It is the buyer's fault if the dog has cancer. It's always always someone else's fault that she has not paid her mortgage, her taxes, her court ordered restitutions. It is always someone elses fault that she doesn't show up in court, or is thrown in jail.
How the woman sleeps at night is beyond me.

Anyone with personal experience with this woman should write a letter to Judge Suzanne Geddis, Livingston County (you can get the address/phone/fax on their website) and get it to her prior to the August 3rd hearing.

I hope that Tucker remains healthy. I'm betting that when you bought him you either weren't told that she was suspended by the AKC, or, she told you that she QUIT using them, OR, that she is using a "better" registry. And that you paid a pretty high price for him.

Has Tucker had his hips exrayed to assure that he, like so many other GoldRocks dogs, is not dysplastic? A dog can have hi[p dysplasia without showing any symptoms until later and it would be good to know before he does so that you can properly feed and exercise him.

I am sorry that you have had to live with that kind of guilt. I think the two dogs you refer to were Lindsey and Jimmy. A video of the Van Buren farm was taken by the owner of that property after Schulz left in the middle of the night, and included photos of those two puppies laying in their own waste, as well as a neonate puppy found dead in the trash. Thankfully her fraud has been exposed. As far as helping, try contacting the Animal Control officers in both Livingston and Clare Counties.

It is IMPERATIVE that this NOT be shoved away in a filing cabinet somewhere! This sorry excuse of a human ABSOLUTELY IS in possession of dogs - a clear violation of her probation. And unless the charges against her are followed through, she will be right back at it - selling ill bred, crippled dogs to people who suffer with them as they the get progressively worse. And without hope of EVER being compensated.
Shame on the Church "Charity" for enabling her to continue her greedy, fraudulent ways.

We purchased a puppy from Gold Rocks in 2006. He was from Sweet Pea and Prince litter. We were very lucky that his only health issues were occasional ear infections and fatty tumors as he got older. He was the best dog We have ever owned! He was 11 years old when was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma on his heart. He died peacefully on October 8th; one month before his 12th birthday. We will miss him forever♥️

I have delt with Kim over and over... Always bad! She owes so many vets that she takes advantage of and then moves on to another.
Her dogs are always sick! Many die within days of being adopted. Stay away from this person. We try to convict her, but she serves little time if any before skipping out and starting over in a new town, likes to stay around Mich and Ohio area. BEWARE!

I too have one of the Red Wings Pups. I purchased Goalie, (Born [protected]) on Thanksgiving Eve, 2005. Kimberley was rather aloof, by my recollection, and charged me what i considered to be a fair amount. I was able to leave with Goalie, who was 6 mths. old at the time, and pay the balance within 30 days. Goalie has given me 7 1/2 yrs. of nothing but perfect love. I would welcome comments from any of his brothers and sisters...and be willing to share health info. Regards, BB

I have two of Kimberly's dogs I adopted a couple years ago for FREE as long as I got them fixed. One is a registered service dog to my disable husband and is the smartest well behaved dog(no leash needed) . The other we got 3 months later at her Fenton house and picked him out. He again was free as long as i got him fixed which we did. He is beautiful super sweet with every animal and person he meets.
Our sevice dog walks down the steps one step at a time right to you and if you trip and put your hand on her to catch your fall, she braces herself to help you. She was obviously taught this (which we found out when i injured my knee and had trouble with stairs). Now while these dogs are beautiful and sweet, we do have some housebreaking issues and have to keep them in the kitchen when we leave, also the male does have not the best hips we are told (but he acts fine running/jumping into a car)
When I was at her old house in Fenton picking up the male I have to comment all the dogs were very sweet and socialized.
She was nice to the dogs . She did say that her farm was being foreclosed on and was trying to find homes for her dogs . They both were micro chipped and shots were up to date when we got them. So from my experience with her and my two dogs was positive.

I had many problems with this woman when I bought my retriever from her . Our dog almost died the morning after we received her. She had a severe case of ring worm . When we called her and informed her she was not nice at all and didn't act like she even cared about the puppy or the fact that our 3 year old was in tears that his puppy was dying . We saved our dog . We called, left messages day after day with no response until I got a hold of her husband and he made it right and they paid our vet bill because we were taking them to court. Sorry to all that have had to deal with her .

Update(11/04/10)

I took Sandy Bear for her shots in late June and a lump on her back was discovered. My vet had determined it was a cyst and to keep an eye on it and have it removed in the fall while getting a teeth cleaning.

In late Sept., I had noticed another lump, this time on her tail near the top. I took her to the vet the next day and he stated it was a cyst and recommended to have it removed along with original.

Late Oct., both masses were removed, an ex-ray was taken for her hips and teeth were cleaned. The ex-ray showed no hip problems and everything was fine. A biopsy was done on the mass on the back and it came back a-okay...no cancer.

So, will there be more cysts down the road, who knows. Is this a hereditary thing...who knows. At least for now, I know her hips are fine and I will be keeping a closer eye for any mass developments.

We posted several years about our precious golden Kalli purchased from Goldrocks. She has hip dysplasia but is holding her own for now, She gets along well with our other Golden Kody whom we rescued as a pup. Kody has papers and no health problems. I guess we have two rescued pups but one at a very high price. We, too, went through quite an ordeal with the witch. We can't believe the story still goes on...We live in the Detroit area so keep posting if we can do anything. Dave and Sandi

I purchased my precious dog Ellie; bd 8-20-03 from Kimberly. I notified her in 2006 that the vet heard a heart murmur. I called Kim and she said she would check with her vet and get back to me. Of course I never heard back and she never answered my calls. Ellie just had a Echocardiagram and she has 4 leaky valves. Her prognosis is not good. She also has cateracts. I love her with all my heart and would not have wanted to have any other dog. The of the reasons I spent the big bucks on her was because Goldrocks gave a lifetime guarantee. Before I read all these complaints I thought Ellie's problems were a fluke now I know they are not. I hope Kimberly can sleep at night knowing she has caused so many people such heartache; but also I have gotten nothing but love from Ellie.

Fay H. - Please, please, please have her hips tested. We have litter mates that we bought from this woman in 2006. We just found out that the male was born with NO HIP SOCKETS. His strong body has managed to create a very small socket on one side but there is NOTHING on the other. The vet is totally amazed he is even walking let alone running and playing with his sister. We expect to start saving for the extensive medications he will eventually need as there is nothing that can be done now, surgery wise. This wonderful dog of ours also had juvenile cataracts that we spent thousands on getting fixed.

Someone posted on another complaint website that her address is:

And on yet another website it looks like she has, there's a 313 area code phone number (Detroit area exchange) - [protected]

Does anyone know if she's behind bars yet?

All I can say is WOW!

Yes, I own a Goldrocks golden. She is from the 3/15/07 Star/Bojangles litter. I picked her out at 7 days old and drove to the house in Fenton once a week at various unannounced times until I took her home at 7 1/2 weeks old. I paid $600. No, don't have AKC papers, but after getting them for my 10+ yr old sheltie and knowing the papers are collecting dust somewhere in the house...lol, I didn't bother pursuing it.

So far, her health has been a-okay. No, I haven't had the hips tested. She goes with me on long(5 1/2 ml) walks with no problem. Yes, she's skittish around other dogs than my own, but I assumed I had trained her that way so that on walks, she would walk by people/dogs without going towards them. She loves the pool and yes, she has chronic ear infections in one ear, but again, I assumed that was normal since according to research I did on-line, that was normal with dogs that have ears that hang down. She did have skin issues(flaking). but that seemed to disappear when I put her on Flint River food for food allergies plus Derm Tabs.

Why I chose Kim was basically, I assumed the dogs were bred for service dogs and not for show dogs. I had just put to sleep a 4 year old sheltie that had seizures from 18 months old that came from a breeder that cared about perfect looking show dogs, but not the health...in my opinion. So, I figured that Goldrocks cared more about the health instead.

All I can say is that after dealing with 2 different breeders now(sheltie and goldens), I have no trust in anything I read or see. They tell you to not buy from what is called back-yard breeders nor from pet stores. So, when you go to a place that looks reputable with both parents etc., you find later that those breeders weren't reputable either, it makes you wonder.

At the time I bought off from Kim, I even heard good things thru word of mouth from other golden owners that bought from her.

I, too, am somebody that was scammed by Kimberly. We bought a puppy from her in 2005. The puppy was expensive (I'm embarrassed to say how much, but others have mentioned the amount), but looking back, I would have paid twice that amount for what I call "the best dog in the world". We love her more than anything. Thankfully, our golden hasn't exhibited any hip or eye issues whatsoever, and she is extremely well-behaved and smart (well, what golden isn't smart?) If nothing else, reading all the comments here have made me feel like I wasn't alone in my ignorance. For those of you feeling bad for being so stupid (like I did) for (A) dealing with her in the first place and (B) for paying such an exhorbitant price for the puppy, let me pass along what a co-worker of mine, who I met two years after I bought our golden and who happens to raise goldens himself, told me when I told him how stupid I felt for not researching things as I should have. He told me "Don't think that way. You RESCUED a golden when you bought her, and there's nothing wrong with that."

I posted an ad on Craigslist that I was looking for a golden. Kimberly answered right away and said she had some for a small homing price. I went to the property on Gorden Road. She said the township was suing her and her neighbors were suing her because she use to let their kids ride their dirt bikes on her property but failed to shut the gates and her horses kept getting out. The 2 adult dogs she offered me came from the house, so that should have been my first clue that they couldn't get along with other dogs. I took one. She had a sore on her leg and her ears were filthy, which I was shocked about considering she being a breeder. This dog couldn't get along with my other goldens and didn't know how to play. I took her to the vet and got everything up to date. She was about 4 and had not been spayed yet. I tried numerous times to get Kimberly to help me and she was always out of my reach. I ended up putting money into this dog to assure her health and then gave her to a home where she would be the only dog. I gave the new owner the info to google Kimberly Schultz and told her she wouldn't like what she read. Last hearing from this new owner the dog has had a chronic ear infection that hadn't gone away yet.

Add my name to the list of people scammed by Kimberly Schulz. My 17 week old puppy is fatally ill with acute renal failure. My puppy has only one kidney and it's not functioning. Schulz knew about this major health problem but certainly never told me. She blames me, the vet...everyone is at fault for the puppies poor health except her. I do not understand how she can continue to sell puppies. Currently, she resides in Detroit Mich. As an adult, I am heartbroken that my puppy has to be euthanized, but how many children did this woman hurt? Where is the Humane Society? Anti Cruelty to Animals Society? This woman has to be stopped. The animals and public deserve a responsible breeder. This woman lies so much that she should keep a notebook to keep her stories straight.

I was looking through yahoo questions tonight and seen a question about people's experiences with Goldens. I started thinking back to when I was 19 years old and worked 2 weeks with Kim in Van Buren County MI. before she up and left town. I started looking to see if she still sold puppies. I seen so many nasty things and haven't reported it to anyone. I was young then and pregnant and just got into a car accident and Kim screwed me out of the money she owed me but the owner or one of the owners of the land she was renting paid me part of my dues so I gave up on perusing her for the money that was owed to me. Plus I had other issues to worry about with the pregnancy.

After reading all of these post tonight, I feel really bad to the point of crying. I seen some of the things that went on behind the scenes and did nothing about them. I don't know how much of an impact I can make now but if anyone has any advice on how I can help with the case against her from a different point of view, please let me know. I remember two of her male dogs not being able to walk cause of their back legs not working. I seen the oodles of puppies and dogs in the barn. The house was full of feces and urine. I use to have to tie the dogs out on chains during the day in the middle of winter and feed and water them. I would change their straw in the crates. I had to let the puppies out of the crates in the barn and into this pen and feed and water them. The dogs stayed out on those chains all day long till dark when they went right back into crates in the barn. I had to put the pups back in the crates in the barn at the end of the day too. I helped kim take puppy pictures of the little babies that one of the dams had. I can't remember the names of the dogs but I do remember one. Part of her name was Jelly. She loved to watch trees. I don't know if she was watching the trees for birds or for squirrels. Kim had also told me that one of the dogs in the barn was sold to a redwings player. She never interacted with any of the dogs outside. The training to ring a bell was just a lie. Please let me know if I can help.

Yikes! I had no idea about this lady. Although I've had many of the same experiences--her wanting to meet me half way, paying cash, saying the dogs were well trained & had papers--even though when she brought them they were quite unruly. Not returning phone calls.
My dog is almost 2 years old and I am truly afraid. I pray she doesn't have those illnesses so many above mentioned dogs have. When I brought her home, I saw she had worms, but after a trip to the vet, she was fine. I will be devastated if she has cancer or anything as bad. I have no real children, just golden children and she's still a baby.
Her parents were Pixie & Tater.

When I went in to read more about this case I couldn't find the information. I can't tell you how shocked I am!

I have spent the last couple months trying to reach Kim about papers for our dogs! This is all so much to take in...

I can only hope my Josie and Turbo will live long healthy lives...

They are only 1 1/2 years old!

I am very sorry about your dog, Autumn, however cannot undrestand how or why you would buy a dog from Mi- Did she ship this dog-?
Please everyone- tell everyone you know- do not buy any dog from anyone if you see ANY of these RED FLAGS-
They want to meet you half way-for whatever reason- They do this so you do not see their house/kennel- puppymill.
They deal only in cash or want to go with you to the bank- Schultz does this alot I understand.
They will "SEND YOU the papers-this is always a bad sign-
The puppies are not registered- you register the puppy-HOWEVER: The stud dog and the ###- or female should have papers and a photo-
The PARENTS should also have PROOF of any testing they have for health issues-THE PARENTS CANNOT BE TESTED BEFORE THE AGE OF TWO FOR HIP DYSPLASIA-
If she does not have the mother at the house when you get there- LEAVE-
If they are charging more for females- leave-
if they do not ask you questions about your house.kids, yard and vet ref, BEWARE
If they ask for a deposit to HOLD a dog- DO NOT give it.
If you are lured by a fancy internet site- Do Not send money or deposit without going the home and seeing the mom and puppies.
If they are breeding more than one breed, BEWARE.
If you want a GOOD BREEDER- check the CURRENT STATUS OF THEIR A.K.C. membership- A club membership is a good sign- I.E. Great Lakes Golden Retrievers
If any of the pups look listless, have loose stools, watery eyes and nose, LEAVE
If they cannot PROVIDE you with a copy of the vet bills that show this dog had all immunizations and worming at 6 weeks- LEAVE.
Ask for references- VET- PAST OWNERS, CLUB MEMBERS
I wish I had a dollar for every client that had a dog that had a father that was a "CHAMPION"
I have talked to people that think they bought a jack russell for example and the dog is clearly a mix, a mutt and they are charged a fortune.
I went to theis womans house- She lied about being a trainer, lied about raising therapy/service dogs and I saw about 15 adult dogs run out of her house-
She had two litters of pups that I saw and a hoard of older pups that were in different pens all over.
She coul dnot keep her story straight and her contract looked like something a professional scam artist drew up to prevent from being sued.
The best place to get a purebred dog is a small hobby breeder- You will pay more for a dog with clearances.
Do your research- She is counting on you falling in love with the dog and not returning them.

I purchased a dog from Gold Rocks in 2003. I never received the dog's papers, and the dog has cataracts in both eyes and problems with her hips, as well as skin problems. Kimberly never returned any of my calls or emails once she delivered the pup to me in California. She charged me $1800 for this dog, and my family and I love the dog dearly and will continue to take the very best care of her and see to it she lives a healthy, full life...but she has cost us literally thousands of dollars in vet bills, and her hips and eyes make it difficult for her to go on long walks and hikes with us. Very disappointed and dismayed to see that this is apparently the norm, not the exception, in dealing with Gold Rocks. :(

This is insane! I can't believe what I am reading! My husband purchased our Golden from Gold Rocks in 2006 (male born 6/3/06 to River). The lady seemed "off" and I chalked it up to her being a bit overboard in loving her dogs. Had I known any of this, we never would have considered purchasing from her. A key reason for choosing her was because she bred service dogs and I am hearing impaired and hoped to eventually train him as a hearing dog. Thank goodness he is healthy so far, as he's the love of my life. I attempted to contact her on some follow-up testing she was supposed to provide and received no communications back. Then I read on her website that a dog had died and that she was crushed...and I just gave up. It wasn't like we were going to give up our Tucker at this point and just decided to forget about her.

How on earth do you stop her from doing this? It seems as if she can just set up shop anywhere.

I too have been scammed by this person. After many court hearings, which I guess you could say were succesful as the rulings were in my favor, I have yet to see any restitution from Kimberly. As an acceptable form of payment, I had agreed to take a couple of the horses she has on her property. However, under deposition, she claimed that the horses were not hers nor did they belong to borders. This was presented before Judge Geddis who dismissed the offer. Despite warrants Kimberly still seems to slither through the system. Maybe the residents of the County and State should take a look at their judicial system.

I am sorry that i am just finding this post now as I would have enjoyed the trip in to her August arraignment. Please keep me posted on any further court dates.

To tinasfinest-
Please be careful WHO you pick up and give a ride to- its better to dial 911 and give their location- police will go there and assist if necessary- I used to work in that area as a police officer- too many felons walking away from jail -not a safe thing to do!

I know exactly where 5 mile and telegraph is -quite a difference from fenton area and acreage- if I had an address could notify the humane society and police about her record and bail. probabation- these people usually keep doing the same thing but she will hide the dogs in another location- too bad she is free to do it again.

I have now met the man and Kimberly. I met the man who owned the house that she kept the dogs and horses at in Harrison. When he got out of jail at Livingston County, I happened to see him walking down the road and thought he was broke down. I picked him up and then found out who he was. I think he may have been scammed by her to. He said she conned her into taking care of these animals up north and then she didnt give money for food or anything. He didnt know what to do. This was a few months ago.
About a week ago I was talking to my cousin who lives in the detroit area. She said she met a new friend. Her friends name was Kimberly. She said Kimberly was being railroaded by Livingston County and that she had sued Livingston for 2 million dollars. She said she was supposed to recieve this money in another month. She said that it was because her horse had gotten out and was considered animal at large and they unlawfully jailed her for this and sold her horses. She never mentioned the goldens or anything. Well it is a small world since I had already met the guy where she was storing them at. I told my cousin, who know has nothing to do with her. I do know she is living at 5 and telegraph area and has animals at this time. I dont know if she is able to, but she does. Shewas just in Harrison this past weekend, she picked someone up to watch her dogs. Dont know that much besides that. Thought you would be interested. I knew there was more to the story so I googled her and here I am.

thecla, are your puppies from bojangles and twinklin star? born march 15 2007? I know there were a litter of 10 puppies total. the reason I am asking is because I also bought two puppies from Kimberly schultz born on this date and was wondering if they could be siblings. If for some reason your dogs need blood it might be helpful to know a blood relative to your puppies. I am heartbroken for you because my dogs are also 2 years old now and I am sitting here crying while reading your letter thinking that could happen to my dogs at any time. You see I was unable to have chldren of my own so when adopting these puppies they were supposed to be my human babies and to think you are going through this while they are still so young is terrifying to me. If there is anything I can do to help, you can call me 317.796.4652. I wish you all the best. I had a hemangiosarcoma scare with my 3 year old golden just a few months ago but it ended up being something similar but harmless. The more I read on this complaint board the more mad I get. I have always believed in forgive and forget/Karma and all that but this is just ridiculous. Taking a dog from a child with a disability is a low blow. She sickens me more and more each day. My dogs are my life. I love them very much and I realize now every day is a gift not to be taken for granted. Give your babies a kiss for me. Try to stay strong. I will check in after a few days. Good luck with the surgery and if you decide the chemo route. Melanie Trendelman( i am also on facebook, we can become friends)

Does anyone know what is going on with the dogs? I have tried emailing the rescue, sent in an application and cannot get a response since the first week they had them listed. They had said there might be a few of them up for adoption the following week but that has been over 3 weeks ago. I am just wondering if they are really going to be adopted or if there is something going on in the courts. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
