This is to inform you of a windshield replacement done by Glacier Toyota has issues. The removal of the windshield through poor workmanship or lack of knowledge has caused the paint to be cut where the glass is seated. This in turn has caused oxidation around the body's leading edge to the window to rust. It also shows of bulging caulking in different areas. It should be noted that there is a tool available that cuts the sealant where the glass meets the painted body of a vehicle that prevents this damage. This situation is generally caused by using a box knife. If during a windshield change damage to the seating area of the glass to body occurs it must be prepped and primed to prevent such rusting issues from arising down the road.
When Glacier's service manager took an audible recording of my noisy ABS module to send to Toyota Canada as they could not explain the cause of it. They told me after waiting two weeks for a response from Toyota Canada (which was never sent to them to review) it was not a warranty issue and Glacier Toyota would not peruse it. I have had ABS issues since day one of my purchase from them and to date I had three other companies tell me that you should have taken action on this matter due to the loud auditable noise it makes when the brakes are depressed and held. They suggested that it should be replaced and if that was not the issue then proper noise dampening should be done where it is mounted.
Other issues since purchased are cabin door seals leak, allowing different elements such as mud. dirt. dust to enter the cabin. That should raise some bells as the battery air vent is right next to dirty air coming into this air portal (must have clean air). Overall noise level is undesirable on a long trip. The lack of sound dampening is clearly evident throughout this car, it is tolerable when wearing ear protection though.
I have found very good mechanics in Smither's and have also found alternate Toyota dealers that take care of my warranty work even though I have an eight hour return trip and a hotel and meals as extra expense. All this for purchasing a vehicle from this company.
This is a small tight-nit town and I have found out there are others that have dealt with Glacier Toyota that had the same or more serious issues (they are not hard to find). They also have moved away from doing business with them. I feel it would be beneficial for Toyota Canada, USA and Japan to be aware of these issues.
