My fiance and I purchased both our engagement rings from G.B.Gems in the month of November. My rings are typical, 2 separate white gold bands encrusted with diamonds. Exactly after 1 month of the engagement one of the bands started turning yellow on the inside. When I went back to their branch in Mall of the Emirates to ask for my problem to be fixed, Hitesh (the manager who sole me the ring) said the following:
a) The gold has not turned yellow
b) It's just lotion or body soap that will come off with a little bit of cleaning.
c) The gold has not turned yellow, its just scratches
d) The gold has turned yellow because of the scratches

He was extremely rude and sarcastic. He look exasperated and kept rolling his eyes to my questions, while I'm the one who bought A LOW QUALITY PRODUCT FROM HIM! and I should be the one getting frustrated! He had no tact while dealing with me. His solution to my problem was that I could either polish my ring (by which I lose a few grams of gold) or that I could ignore my problem. I came back from the store feeling horrible that I bought the ring and an even worse feeling that I bought it off that man.

I am a REAL ONLINE JEWELER and I will tell you that from reading your post here, what has happened is your band had been RHODIUM PLATED to cover the yellow gold under the RHODIUM PLATING. After the month past the RHODIUM PLATING began to wear away beginning to show the yellow gold under it.

I would have suggested to you PALLADIUM rather than 14kt or 18kt white gold. You would appreciate PALLADIUM far more than either of these metals because PALLADIUM is a NATURALLY WHITE PRECIOUS METAL and it is an AFFORDABLE MEMBER OF THE PLATINUM FAMILY. PALLADIUM NEVER NEEDS RHODIUM PLATING and it is HYPO-ALLERGENIC.

The jeweler you purchased your band or bands from should have informed you that the band you were purchasing had been RHODIUM PLATED but apparently he didn't. The next time you decide to gold WHITE GOLD I would STRONGLY SUGGEST you request PALLADIUM instead.
