Free Gas Central collected our $5 registration fee through PayPal back on August 25, 2008 and after 3 months of faithfully mailing in our $100 worth of gas recipts, we have received 3 emails from them acknowledging they have received our receipts "in good order". However, to-date we have not received a single gas card. Their website is down and their phone number just rings and rings and no one answers in the "customer service" dept. I understand that their website has now changed to Gas Redemption Services but I cannot get on that website either. These people should be locked up!

We had paid our $5.00 to, and had faithfully sent my $100.00 worth of gas reciepts starting in September 2008 up until now, April 2009 and we have only recieved 1 e-mail saying that my gas card was on the way. I see now that I will not get one. I thought that it might be a scam after I had not recieved anything after the first 90 days. These people should have to pay everyone back their $5.00, the $250.00 worth of gas, plus extra for the hassle that we have gone through.

I'm sorry that you all are going through this with said company...but just FYI the number that is listed above for Free Gas Central does'nt work or is not the right number. My problem with them is that they attached there promotion to another product that I purchased through another company on which I declined the free gas offer. (WAS NOT TO BE PART OF MY ORDER!) and they still managed to call me and tell me that they was sending the gas cards any way along with some type of subscription that I declined in the first place. There customer service rep. was very disrespectful and would not cancel sending this unwanted offer to my home on which I would be charged on my Bank Card If I don't do so with in thirty days. So if anyone has the real contact number for this so called company I would be grateful if you can post it for me or you can send it to me at my email. Thank You

I also sent in money - I received a card to mail in after attending a Real Estate workshop. I sent in $10 and never received any correspondence.

I think this "business" was a scam. Does anyone know who started FREE GAS CENTRAL or how we can get our money back?

WE too received a $225 in FREE gas from a car dealership. It was from FreeGas Cntral. WE paid the $5.00 through Paypal and sent in our $100 in receipts each month beginning in September '08. we have received NO $25 gas cards and no correspondence since 12/2008. Shame on the Dealerships for falling for this and also shame on us for falling also!

I checked into the court case, which the paperwork dated February 20th, 2009 can be viewed here:

http://blogs.mcall.com/files/tidewater-injunction.pdf

It seems as if there is an injunction barring her/them from soliciting any newbies, all assets have been seized and there is an attorney appointed to look over every scrap of mail and material they have. I would assume that is going to take a bit of time.

I would suggest registering your complaint with the website given previously and hope to be included in any distributions there may be in the end. If anyone else knows how to get vengance, let me know!

I was supposed to get the free gas from purchasing a Rain Soft water filtration system. Like everyone else, I paid my $5 and have been sending in my receipts. I have been getting the email confirmations, but not a single gas card after several months. The last receipts I sent in came back to me with a note from the post office saying, "Return To Sender, Refused, unable to Forward." I thought maybe they'd send one gas card for the full amount at the end, but now I think I was just wasted my $5, stamps and time collecting/mailing receipts. To make matters worse, I'm not that impressed with the water filtration system.

I bought furniture from Ashley Furniture and Free Gas Central $500 gas rebate was part of their advertising. Since Nov 2008 I have sent in the $100 receipts waiting on the $25 refund. I have continued to mail in gas receipts and have received e-mails from Free Gas Central that confirms their receipt. In February '09 my mailed receipts were returned marked "return to sender, refused, unable to forward". I tried e-mailing them asking for new address but it bounced back. I never received any rebates! If you see a business offering gas vouchers DON'T DO IT!

Same experience as everyone else. Bought a piece of furniture back in August. Went to that furniture store because of the gas offer. Started sending in receipts for September and have done so each month. Tried calling gas place and would be on hold forever, sat on hold one time for 1 hour (NO KIDDING!) and never got anyone. The next day I called again and sat on hold for 35 minutes, finally I got someone. She said they were behind and I'd have my gas cards sometime in February. Never received them. My husband and I are going on vacation in 3 weeks, we were planning on using the gas cards at that time. What a rip off! Not to mention, the piece of furniture I bought has some defects and so I am still waiting on that to be replaced too! I am very displeased with the furniture store as they seem not very concerned when I've called them (twice) to see if they have any idea what's going on. They say they were scammed too. Well, not really, as you got business out of it... The way they are dealing with the situation, or not dealing with it, shows me not to shop with them again.

i am in the same boat as the above posters. i got a $200 voucher for doing a test drive last summer. i have sent in every month since august, and have received nothing as of yet. i was told that they had a computer problem in october and were fixing it and my august, sept, and october ones were ready to be mailed out that week, and it is now march and i have still received nothing. i have emailed them numerous times, all coming back as failure to send to a valid email address, and their numbers don't work either. if anyone has had any success in contacting them, please post as to how

We, too, purchased a sizable amount of furniture with the promise of receiving $500 in gas. Finding out it would take us 20 months to recoup the $500 was bad enough; but, now it looks like we won't see a dime and paid them $5 instead. I have submitted 2 months of receipts and have received nothing. When I checked the website & phone number today, I found the same: website not found, phone number is invalid.

I also have had the same thing happen to me. In January 09 I sent an email to the company and this is what I got back *****Dear Valued Customer,
During the months of August, September and October 2008, Gasoline Redemption incurred a complete Sequel server /database crash. Other corporations much larger than Gasoline Redemption have suffered worse database crashes than we have using the same software. We have been aggressively working just as quickly as possible to get the newest system functioning properly to better service customer accounts and prevent further delays. Unfortunately, many redemption member accounts were affected at different levels. Because all corporate communication was at this time Internet and Server driven, you may have noticed severe telecommunication difficulties, website absence as well as emails declining receipts that you were previously notified were good. The lack of communications combined with Gasoline Redemption's total inability to service anyone or anything during the crash, sent a tidal wave of gossip, rumors and panic throughout the US.
Gasoline Redemption would like you to know that we are not closing. Gasoline Redemption has been here the entire time correcting the severe issues that crippled the corporation on more than one occasion and we will continue to utilize all resources at our disposal to correct all issues and return the gasoline redemption program to its former state. These issues were unavoidable and unintentional. We have completed the new database software, website and telecommunication systems and are in the process of switching the new and the old. During this time you may experience telecommunication issues with our firm such as an announcement from your local carrier telling you that "all circuits are busy please try your call again later." This is due to the amount of telephone calls coming into the local carrier circuits. Because this is not within our control, but is within the control of our West Coast Florida provider and the callers' provider regionally, we cannot place an announcement or voice mail on the circuit announcement.
Although we have encountered trouble with the past systems, we ask that you continue sending in your receipts. All new information is placed into the new secure system for fulfillment. Please remember our top priority is your satisfaction and assurance that you will receive everything owed to you. Please note that our server crash did damage our collected data and is a very delicate and timely repair and may require your input to properly correct all issues. Our firm will be issuing email and mail notices asking for your feedback and information. Gasoline Redemption understands this process may seem uneventful and frustrating, however, our ultimate goal is to repair the system data correctly and ensure that you are completely satisfied with our services.
Gasoline Redemption is working to fix this issue for you as quickly as possible. Gasoline Redemption attempted a card correction in all data records that required each account to be viewed and hand corrected by a redemption agent in late December and is still occurring. We will be asking you to return the email and/or letter stating receipt of one or more cards between January 1st 2009 and February 1st 2009 in order for Gasoline Redemption to confirm repair. Once all data is confirmed by you, cards will be shipped correctly and you will be satisfied. Gasoline Redemption will never allow another situation such as this to occur to our valuable redemption members again.
Gasoline Redemption is requesting that if contact is needed please send a letter or email and a live agent will respond. If telephone contact is needed we recommend that you avoid peak call times, 10:00 AM EST- 11:30 EST and 2:00 PM EST - 3:30 PM EST, when customer service receives a higher than normal call volume. Please note hours of operation are M-F 10 AM to 6 PM EST when calling.
Words cannot express our gratitude to you for your continued patience, redemption and support during this very difficult time.
Sincerely, Heather
Gasoline Redemption***** of course I have not heard anything after this and can not contact the company in any way. I also sent a email to Attorney General Bill McCollum at ag.mccollum@myfloridalegal.com. LETS HOPE SOMETHIING IS DONE ABOUT THIS!

What were they doing with our receipts then, I'd like to know? One of the many times I call ed the 800 # - which is now d/c ed - I asked this question. I was told by a young woman, who was "new" and not very helpful, that Free Gas Central is the "middle man" and that they send the receipts on to the gas company that you chose. So, supposedly Shell Gas was to issue the gift card, then send it to the people at Free Gas who would then send the gift card on to us... well, it obviously never happened!

I think I will attempt to contact Shell and ask what they know about this scam. Also, I will be calling the business which supplied me with the Free Gas info and start-up vouchers, etc.

The above phone # also did not work -- rang and rang until finally said call cannot be completed.

I guess nothing really is FREE...

I am so furious with this company. We went to a vacation seminar and got a $300. free gas with gas so high I did this. I have sent in gas receipts and got one story after another. I feel so taken yes it may have been only $5.00 but all the time mailing and going to one brand of gas I just feel so stupid and there really should be something we can do because they have done this to alot of people and if everyone paid $5.00 that adds up and this company should be liable. I sent in September, October, November, December, and January and I have Feb on my desk I just kept asking them to respond. now none of their numbers work and they don't respond to emails and their site is still running so they are still doing this to more people. any ideas maybe a class action.

I called this phone number that was given to me and the person took my name as stated someone would get back with me as soon as possible. From what I have heard Free Gas Central is out of business so I guess everyone who had thes redemption coupons are SOL and who knows how much money they got away with.
I now believ there was intent to fraud and I think the AG Fl should do something about it.
I will e-mail the BBB but if the company is out of business can anything really be done?
Thanks for the tip I appreciate it.

Same boat with the rest of the people that got taken. Did all required, got the email that all was going as planned, but no redemption.
Try calling the number on the website and it's disconnected. I also received my certificate as an auto dealership promotion. It's a shame that it now appears that there isn't anyone left in business or in the government that we can trust to keep thier word. Save your time and money-- don't trust anyone.

In Kamloops, BC, Canada, we had the same promo from our Ford Dealership. I test drove a car, wasted 2 days of my time, received my voucher for free gas, paid my 5.oo pay pal, sent in my gas receipts, paid postage, and never received any gas cards. Why is the dealership not responsible for false advertising? They did their part... they gave the voucher... that's all they promised.

I also paid the $5.00 set-up fee, and have been sending in my $100 worth of gas receipts faithfully, EVERY month. I've received emails confirming that my receipts have been received in good order, and I can expect to receive my $25 gas/gift card soon. After not receiving anything in the mail after 5 months, I phoned. Firt of all, it rang and rang and rang...but I hung in there. Eventually, I was placed on hold (I assumed) as the elevator music started. Well thank goodness for speakerphone. It took an hour before anyone answered. I spoke with a guy named Chris. He appologized, explaining that there have been processing issues, and that everything was on the way, he was even going to include December and January's along even though they had only just received my receipts...BLAH...BLAh...BLAH...
WHAT A HOAX. I'm so angry. I know it's only $5.00 plus 8 months of postage. Is it wrong for me to complain to the car dealership that set me up with this deal? I mean they DID USE IT AS A SELLING FEATURE...

Same thing happened to me... paid the $5.00
sent in the coupons with reciepts. I then called the advertising agency that bought these cards for promotional reasons and he is on it... Last I heard some people have received their vouvhers but these people are with the advertising companies that bought these gas cards to begin with... Last I heard which was 2/7/09 The Attorney General is involved and is going to shut them down if they did not comply by 2/5/09. Everyone should write to the Attorney General Bill McCollum at ag.mccollum@myfloridalegal.com

I am in the same situation. I paid them $5 at the time of registration and religiously went to the same gas station that I signed, and sent them the receipts with redemption coupon. Just like everyone, I received an email confirming the recieved of my receipts. I made several phone calls that I was told by Free Gas Central that their computers were down and were not able to process the voucher timely, and I was assured that I should receive the voucher in the first week of January 2009.
I tried to call their 1-800, and the number is no longer in service. These people should be locked up.

I can't believe this is happening. I was scammed too. This is ridiculous. I received a certificate from a local car dealership stating that I would have $100.00 free gas voucher just for coming in to check out their vehicles. After reading the so called "free gas voucher" it gave instructions to go to freegascentral.com. I figured it had to be ligitimate because the car dealership I got it from is a reputable place of business. After sending in all my receipts as requested, I too have received nothing in return. I have lost my $5.00 registration fee along with the postage to send in those silly recipts. What a rip off! I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General as well. I suggest that anyone who has been scammed by this do the same.

I know it is only $5.00 but it is the point of the matter. It is a shame in our current economical situation that people would take advantage of those less fortuunate. What is this world coming to? God help us all.

Exact same situation here. We paid the $5 fee via paypal in August and sent our receipts in faithfully and received the same "good order" emails. I have written, called, emailed and when they do respond to my email - I get the same "canned" response. "computer problems, switching over, will receive gas cards . . .
