My name is Chonya Hanna, I am an ex employee of FSNB in Rockingham, NC. and my complaint is from November 10, 2009. I recieved a check in the mail from the Apollo Group, and I went into the branch to deposit it, and while there, I opened a new account because my previous one was closed due to inactivity. but when I was being "trained", I was told that an account was not to be closed except on a zero balance. I don't recall the exact amount, but I think it was like 80 some odd cents. but anyhow, that was not a zero balance. then I was told that Iv'e been charged some fees. but that is not what I have the problem with my problem came when I was told that my mail was being returned to the Post Office because of a problem with my address. but this was/is puzzling to me because I have lived at this address for Two years. I recieve all my other mail. and I thought, how is it that after I left the bank my statements were being returned to the Post Office? I just can't figure that out. so then I called and talked to a number of people, and they couldn't help me so then I spoke with Ms. June Kelly, and she told me that as an employee, I should have noticed that my mail was being returned. I was like well how was I to know that, when I couldn't see my own account, and not only that I even did some transactions with various tellers, and not one of them ever told me that my mail was being returned to the Post Office. Hmm.
My only problem with this whole thing is if my mail was being returned, how was it that I was able to recieve my CERTIFICATE from where I paid off my loan? Hmm. I finished paying my loan after I left the bank. so how did that happen? I figured that at the request of the bank was the only way my account could be closed. but if any one can answer this riddle, please feel free to contact me. that's if my address is still on file?

I have been with this bank for at least 10 years, I've tried to get overdraft to cover my car payment and they told me no. Well I called for the last month for the same reason and they keep telling me the same thang. I've had enough with this bank and the lies. I liked the service before the last few months. I would talk to a teller and they would say it would be done on Monday but than whenever I called on Monday they would say it couldn't be done. I'm leaving this bank, because they really don't appreciate their customers and are not on one accord. The worst place to bank is FSNB.

@saraUSMCwife it's legal to sign a check over to someone else that was made out to you to deposit into their account, learned that in a small town high school buisiness class, don't need to work in a bank, pretty basic stuff there, in fact my husband signed a check over to my mother the other day just so we didn't have to deal with FSNB... no problems with her bank... FSNB is just the embarrassing halfwit cousin of banking that everyone should avoid dealing with!

Just the facts: I banked with American Express in Munich for my first three years in the Army. But when I wagon TDY in Augsburg, that branch wouldn't cash my check until they called - long distance - to verify funds in my account; and then they charged me for the call. So when I was assigned to Fort Sill I had my paycheck deposited automatically in FSNB and had my AMEX funds transferred. No problem. A year later I was transferred to State College, PA, with three kids and one on the way. Banks didn't want to do business with me. My neighbor was the manager of the local grocery and, cashed my checks for me - $25 at a time. Then I made a subtraction error in my check book and received two notices that my account was overdrawn. But the bank covered the checks and charged me $3 for each overdraft, which is better than bouncing the check. I learned a lesson: Keep an extra hundred in the bank but not in the check book balance. Twenty years later I retired and found a job with a defense contractor, which paid me bi-weekly by check, which I mailed, postage paid to FSNB. Once during my seven years I received an "Insufficient Funds" notice and a charge for the overdraft, gain covering the check. In mild panic I called, toll free, to express my concern. Two hours later a clerk called back, assuring me that the error had been found and the overdraft charge had been refunded. It was their error in depositing my check into an account with a similar number. I've been with FSNB now for 53 years and still cash my checks - $24 at a time - at the local grocery. I'm getting old now and keep an extra $1000 in the bank to qualify for free checking and prevent overdrafts. I never use an ATM. To transfer money I calla teller with an Okie accent.

So I opened an account because a friend of mine started working there. It took me two hours to complete this! Then I wait the amount of time they tell you to use your ATM, the first time it worked and the next two times they denied it. What in the Crap! Of course customer service is not available when this is happening so no one can address this while I am trying to make a purchase...So I tried to contact on the next Monday morning, guess what, over 5 minutes on hold. Email and no response. THEY MUST BE GETTING LOTS OF COMPLAINT! Tuesday afternoon I get someone on the line and she says "Your account card is on hold because they did not have an ID when you opened your account." HELLO, you can't open an account without an ID. Unbelievable! I have to go back in and give them my ID again so that I can get my money! I love my friend, but this bank is not GOOD!

FSNB is also manipulating deposits and debits to maximize overdraft fees.

I had nothing but problems with FSNB when I was a young Marine. As a recruit at Parris Island, I was not given a choice (nor was anyone else) about which bank I wanted my direct deposit to go to. Coincidentally, our company first sergeant was married to the VP of the local FSNB chain at Parris Island (he was a retired Marine himself). It must have been nice for him to have an "in" with all the fresh recruits at Parris Island...
I had problems with my ATM card NEVER working. I mean it; the card NEVER worked once, except when I wanted to use it in the PX while I was in recruit training. I had to cash checks at the base PX later on after basic training, in order to get any cash at all. THEN, FSNB returned all my checks, even though I wrote them ON PAYDAYS. It cost me a lot of money and my reputation as a Marine suffered as a result.
I couldn't get statements from the bank, ever! Then all these mysterious charges piled up on my account, costing me even more more. They robbed me!
This is the worst, most criminal bank I have ever personally dealt with.

FSNB IS A TERRIBLE BANK. My husband was given an account there when he was at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. They have done nothing but steal from him ever since! They accused him of using his ATM card over 60 times at the Newark Airport and charged him for each time. Then when he decided to cancel his account and they charged him another $100! In the end of all these ridiculous charges they kept adding on he owed them over $700! Every time he called them to dispute these fraudulent charges they put on him they either put him on hold and eventually hung up, or are just very rude and refuse to help him and just yell about how they want their money! My husband fights for this country as a United States Marine and they could give A [censor] LESS. STAY AWAY FROM FSNB!

To the first two, I definately think you have something to camplain about. Definately not acceptable. But to the last one, I think you need to work in a bank to understand, because that is just policy. There are rules just like any other place of business. I am sure wherever you work you have guidlines that if YOU dont follow, it would come back to bite you. I highly doubt you would want your account locked up because of a simple check. This is for your safety too because otherwise anyone could take someone elses check and deposit it to theirs. Regardless if they are present or not giving permission. its LAW. Not everyone wants to get in trouble so you can have your way little child. And that is what happens. It would get noticed when they go through proof and that person would get hit. Lets all go to your job and try to bend the rules

This is the most god-awful bank I've ever dealt with. Just today I went to the bank to deposit my refund from my deposit for my previous apartment. While staying at my other apartment I had a roommate so the deposit had his name followed by the & sign and my name. With my former roommate there and him signing a check after which I signed the check they told me I could not deposited it in my account because there were two names on the check. Now keep in mind that my roommate was present with his drivers license and they refused to deposit the check. They had even called to confirm that the check had been cut by my former apartment complex. Yet they still refused to deposit the check. While speaking to the teller and saying to her that I realized it was not her fault I said I would have to find me another bank to deal with. The what I assume to be the branch manager overheard my comment and in a very rude manner asked if I would like to close my account today. Both my roommate and myself were taken aback by the comment made by her in the manner in which she delivered it.
On a previous occasion I have sold some artworks of mine that were paid for by check. The checks were in my name and where personal checks from the buyers of the artwork. They refused to deposit the money into my account. I've never dealt with the bank like this.
If you have any sense at all you will stay away from this bank.

FSNB IS A B.S BANK! nothing but problems since the day I opened my account. I was told I could open an account with 5 dollars... ok... so my husband and I were opening OUR OWN accounts.. my husband was depositing a personal check drawn out of a bank in Syracuse, NY PLUS, 10 dollars, I also was depositing 10 dollars in my account. Ok so all said and done... my husband should have 310 dollars, and i should have 10... nope... wasnt the case... they needed to do a 3 way conference call with the bank in NY and the person who wrote the check to make sure it wasnt a fraud... are you kidding? Our statements came in and said that I had NOTHING in my account, as they were wondering why I havent done my direct deposit from my job... which I worked in the same store they were in WALMART. The guy wrote out the paper for my personal manager to put in the computer. I didnt put it in. I was asking them were the 10 dollars was that I had deposited in the beginning. They told me that I had never put anything in the bank. I talked to 4 different people at that branch. Finally found someone who found out what happened. The girl that opened my account, which was not the same person opening up my husbands, put my money in HIS account and gave me his account number. I had one of my own. So that day I told them to close the account. They were threatening me that I wouldnt be able to cash my check there anymore. I never did to begin with. Nor did I do the direct deposit. If they lost 10 bucks, whats going to happen with my paycheck? They didnt even have a clue as to how to cash a cashiers check... ARE YOU KIDDING? this bank SUCKS. DONT DO BIZ WITH THEM! i HAVE HEAR MORE STUPID STORIES ABOUT THEM TO. needing a signature from a dead man to close an account... stupid bank...
