Keep receiving phone calls from a John Smith stating he was from the Federal Crime Investigation Department. The phone number they left on my v.m. to return their call is [protected]. I have received many calls from these people in the past - always the same foreign voice and he always gives me a different name -- sometimes he's John Smith, sometimes he's Kevin, or Patrick, etc. When I call them back they state they have a "complaint against my SS#" for unpaid payday loans. Yes I have gone online to obtain payday loans, but none are unpaid. Be careful when you apply online for payday loans -- they sell your information to other people, and most of these people are "scammers". Never provide any bank information or private information to these people. I've had to close my bank accounts due to fraudulent debits due to my information being given to people like them! Be very careful above these people. I've reported them to the FBI but that doesn't work either.

Company Business Name: Federal Crime Investigation Department

Country of complaint: United States

Phone: 760-284-4631

I am getting the same thing. I filled out for an online loan but never followed through because they all seem like some kind of scam. I am receiving emails telling me that there is a problem with my direct deposit and to please send my account information right away. I have been ignoring those emails and deleting them. My computer has been infected with all kind of viruses that I couldn't stop with the regular anti virus protection . I am now receiving phone calls from the Federal Crime Division. It is an Indian accent and he says for me to call back at [protected] ext 204 . He tells me that if I ignore this I will be facing 9 months behind bars and that I need to act quickly and save myself. I called the number back but nobody is answering.

The last few posters need to read this entire discussion as it tells you everything you need to know and why you shouldn't be scared - because it's a SCAM! No one is going to arrest you. I'm getting the same calls, except one of the vm messages stated my address and said "for my safety" I needed to call back and not ignore him. This is nuts. I'm constantly getting called by weird numbers, and I hate to think I'll haIve to change my number because of these ###. I also cringe at the thought that they have been calling my work, I'm on medical leave right now and in the voicemail they stated where I work. They also stated my social (in full), birthdate, address, employer, and where I bank. I agree this has to STOP! I can't believe this has been going on for this long and these people are still at it. Oh yeah, and like everyone else has said, this person has a heavy Indian accent and calls himself "John Anderson" - that's when I knew it couldn't be real! I haven't answered any of the calls, but I'm tired of my phone constantly going off and having to hit reject.

I have been receiving the same calls for months John Adams and Logan Stone claiming to be from the federal crime department. At first I ignored them, then I got tired of it and changed my number. Now they are calling my new number and saying that I have a payday loan that was not paid. I looked at some the first of last year, but most of them wanted money up front, so I ignored them and never went through. Now they are telling me that "for my safety" I need to call Mark White at [protected] back. I called and he told me that I had unresolved loans. I asked for the account number and he would not tell me. He told me my SS#, address, and the bank we used up until a few months ago. He tells me that he is sending his "officers" to arrest me. This is the second time I talked to him. The last time he said I had four hours and his officers would be at my door. I have three small kids at home at the time and it scared me. I have contacted the local police department and was told they could not help me. This is crazy and needs to stop.

I got the same call today from [protected]. I called my local police department. They said it is a scam. I was visiblity disturbed about it. They indicated they had 3 legal cases against me and transfered to their office. Sounded like a scam and told them feels like a scam. They started using profanity. Stay alert.

This is why we have caller ID. If you don't recognize the number, don't answer the phone. If they leave a message, don't answer back. If i don't recognize the name or number, I never answer. My voice message does not give my name, only the number they have called. I have never gotten one of these phone calls.

This is a SCAM. It baffles me how people actually fall victim to these scammers. Important life lessons...
if you know you haven't done anything wrong, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BE WORRIED ABOUT.
no official government agency will call you asking for money over the phone
never give personal information to anybody over the phone
never hand over money to somebody who is threatening you over the phone
keep your wits and common sense on at all times
nobody can arrest you without a warrant
there are a lot of bad people out there, don't be scared of them

I just received a call from a officer John Brown. He told me if I didn't want harm brought against me or my employment to give him a call back on [protected]. That's what he left on my voice mail. I'm glad to know it's a scam.

I had a John Smith from [protected]. He had left a voice mail telling me to contact him or the police were going to show up at my door and arrest me. I called the number back and was disconnected. So I called again. Well I was disconnected four times every time I gave them the name of the officer that had called me. So I gave up.
Five minutes later I get a call from the same number from John Smith. He tells me to call him back at the same number he was calling from. The same number he left on my voice mail. So I asked him why I had to call him back at the number when he just called me from that number. He didn't answer. He just said I had to call him back. So I went on my computer and called the FBI. I asked them the number to file a complaint against someone for fraud. Then I explained to them what happened. They said there are few federal agencies that have 800 numbers and that I should just ignore them.

I have received 2 messages - left on my answering machine, and I've called back twice. The phone no.is: [protected] - and a guy with a very heavy accent left messages very hard to understand. He goes by name Max Morgan and Mark Anderson - working for 'Crime Investigation'. Had to listen over 10 times to these messages, didn't get too much of them, just very little - I did understand thou that 'an arrest warrant was issued against me and my dad' [my dad passed away long time ago] and another family member for something regarding 'income taxes' [I always file my income tax on time, every year].

I've called back the above phone no. - and there was a 'greeting for an IRS office'. I got him on the phone right away, his English was very broken. He started to give me instructions like to go to a store [he told me few names, to choose: rite aide, dollar store, etc.] - and meet with his lawyer in the parking lot, and file a 'voucher' [probably to send him money]. He said if I don't go to that store, I will be arrested. He said that I need to sign also a statement in which I do acknowledge the mistake I did...! and to give the voucher to his lawyer - he said we need to do this in order that the problem be solved 'outside legal system'...

When I said 'I will call the police' - he right away offered to 'call police for me' - and right away, on my caller ID came up '911 - Unknown' and a voice which was the same voice as the guy with heavy accent, started to talk - saying 'he is from the police dept'. I said: 'wow! How were you able to change so fast the connection on the phones? You are the same guy from the 'crime investigation dept'...
He was also asking a lot of private info during the conversation - which of course I didn't give away.
He said that he can find anyone's including my SS#, DL number...etc. - I said: 'ok, go ahead...'. He got frustrated and hang up...

It is hard to believe that someone can scam so many people, and he can do his work in peace, using as a 'cover up' the phone lines and greetings of IRS offices or other official offices. And he is still continuing to do this...on and on and on...and nobody can do anything about.
It is frustrating!

I received a phone call from someone with a foreign accent. Telling me that I have the federal charges are being filed against me. And I should call this officer number which is [protected].
He works Federal Crime Department. And if I do nothing I will be pick up and taken to jail. He did not even say why. What can I do about this.

All these scammers are from another country and if you can start to answer the phone when you see this kind of number or numbers come put, answer with Police department or federal investigator and asked them questions such as what is your investigating license number...and say you are recording this conversation and has a tracer on this line. ( See how fast they will hang up) But Do not call there number you will be charged for that call. and a better one I learned when they start to speak, you just start speaking with another subject with out them even getting a word in edge wise...just talk about anything that doesn't mean anything...its makes it a little better for you to feel like not a Victim...THESE PEOPLE ARE SO RUDE AND STUPID AND THAT IS WHY THEY ARE DOING THIS, BECAUSE THEY WANT YOU TO FEEL LIKE THERE VICTIM.
