BEWARE! The former manager of Hollywood Tans in brodheadsville (Joey Magluello) is now opening ANOTHER tanning salon in the west end plaza called Exotic Tanning/Spa. Do not be fulled by the new name and location it is still the same owner. He scammed me for buying lotions (saying they expired every month) and took my money for a membership that magically disappeared after he was fired from Hollywood tans for scamming people. Just a forwarning!

I appologize..It is not Joey WORKING at the salon..it is his girlfriend and sister. Although Hollywood still does get the complaints..I (along with many of my companions and people i met through the BBB) dealt with Joey first hand and was scammed into buying lotions every 2 weeks to a month (because he said they expired) and after he was removed from the salon i attmepted to happily continue my package only to find out that my history at the salon didn't exist because of my own stupidity of paying with cash and not asking for a receipt in return. The young lady even showed me the computer which had my name and address..with no history of my purchases or use of the machines after i was there for a little over a year. Again..this was only a warning to those in the area. THANK YOU.

They give you a good price if you're a first time customer then once you're hooked the prices magically TRIPLE.

I wish that I had read all of these complaints and reviews after being robbed and traumatized by these thieving low lives 2 years ago. I was so thrilled to see them go out of business after what they did to me. They did not give me a receipt for my purchase because, "The printer wasn't working." I explained to Joey - may he rot in hell- that I had sensitive skin and was afraid of having a reaction. He assured me that I could get a full refund if that happened. Sure enough about an hour after using one of their machines and the lotion they force you to buy, I broke out in a rash. The following morning I had blisters all over my mouth and was quite ill. I returned for my refund and was told by his rude and ignorant sister that "We don't give refunds." She was so unbelievably unprofessional and rude that I demanded to see the manager to which she replied, "I am the manager b*****." I have never in my life experienced anything like that. They really all belong in jail. Needless to say, they kept my $300.00. Karma will get them and I hope that they see all of the faces of the good people who they scammed flash before their eyes as they descend into hell.

I want to start out by saying I am NOT related to any of the owners at Exotic Tans and Spa, but I find this tanning salon AMAZING! I wanted to get a nice tan for my senior prom because I am very very pale! I looked around all the different salons and Exotic was by far the cheapest salon around. I paid 99$ for unlimited tanning on any level and day for 3 months! And I could use whatever lotion I wanted from where ever I wanted. The only thing they asked was not to use spray on lotion because it coats the walls. They never tried to scam me into any type of lotion from them they even told me my walmart lotion was fine. Lotion does not expire but they do build bacteria up like mascara does. They employees at the this salon are very friendly and everything is clean and up to date! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone and as stated above I AM NOT RELATED TO ANY OF THEM!

I have mixed feelings about this place. When I first went shopping for a salon three months ago, I received a coupon (which the coupon itself is somewhat of a scam--it was a month of free tanning WITH purchase of lotion and goggles even if you didn't need them). Also what I won was a level I tanning, so I knew it was worthless for someone with deeper olive skin like myself. When I came into the salon, I asked if I could get a higher package and have the difference of a free month of level I tanning taken off. They surprisingly obliged. But I only wanted to tan for a month, but Joey (whom I've been familiar with before in the Hollywood Tans in Brodheadsville before it switched owners) convinced me to get three months. Mathematically, (at their ridiculous prices) it was cheaper to tan for three months. So I signed up, and was happy that I could tan at the Stroudsburg location while also going to Brodheadsville. On the positive side, I did get tan quite quickly--the beds are strong and they seem to change the bulbs so that's a plus. But even if you are getting results, it's fair to say that you still need to be satisfied with the customer service. At the Brodheadsville location, I was always greeted kindly, and the staff was very personable. But it was when I went to Stroudsburg (because I happened to be in the area) did this salon give a bad taste in my mouth. It was Joey at the desk, and because I've been tanning at the other salon, I needed to fill out paperwork. The first thing he says to me after filling my form out is "Do you have lotion and goggles?" and I replied "Yes." But I just so happen to forget my lotion at work. But I showed him my goggles. He asked me if I bought the lotion at any of their locations and to be honest I do not remember, but he kept harping on me for not knowing how long I've had the lotion for or where I got it from. It's that lotion scam that everyone on here that has been complaining about. I personally have two lotions, and the one I had he claimed I could not use in his beds (Um, it's Ed Hardy lotion which is highly reputable so don't give me that) and that the other one I am allowed to use because they sell it, but I could only use it if I purchased it from them and if it didn't "expire." Apparently, he could scan the lotion to see when it expires (only if I bought it from their salons)--but I didn't like how I got hassled. He would not let me tan without buying some kind of lotion, so I bought a packet (FOR TEN DOLLARS) and never came back. Although I love the staff at the Brodheadsville location, I don't like getting haggled, ripped off, or disrespected. And that's exactly how I feel. So my advice from experience? If you are going to tan at this place, just stay in Brodheadsville where they're not going to question where your "products" are from. And if you are the salon reading this, I'd like to say thanks for the beds, but if you want customers to come back, don't be pushy about your lotions or any kind of sales. It pushes us out the door, and unfortunately, I don't think I am going to come back.

I have had nothing but a great experience at this salon and I recommend everyone to give it a try. It is the most affordable and NICEST salon in the area, the decor is ADORABLE and everything is very clean. I can assure you I am not a member of this family all these complaints seem to be about, but if you aren't smart enough to know that your lotions don't "expire", then that is your own problem. I am recommended to use lotion everytime I go, but they certainly don't force it down my throat. I had forgotten my goggles the one time and the lady at the desk (who is the most friendly, helpful tanning salon employee i have EVER come across, might i add) let me use the goggles at the desk at no charge. To answer any questions about why I'm on a complaints board, is because I googled it to find the number, address, etc. to add to facebook check-in and wanted to see out of pure curiousity. If you had a bad experience and don't like them, fine - but there are people who have had a GOOD experience and are entitled to their opinion just as you are, and are not necessarily "plugging" the tanning salon because of any type of affiliation.

SCAM ALERT! I wouldn't even consider going to this place at all. It's the same owners as HT (which stripped them of their franchise name). Now, they are still up to their lame attempts in the message boards to pose as gushingly happy customers. As another commentator pointed out - if they are so happy, why are they on the complaints board? FAIL. I predict this one will fail just as miserably because they keep on ripping people off. Seriously - why can't you just run a salon normally instead of repeatedly scamming people out of their money and earning a bad reputation? Is there something mentally wrong with your family?

Oh, Joey and Courtney have done it again! What complete frauds and ###! I find it hard to believe those "defenders" above happen to be real people. I can guarantee you it's the family themselves. It's sad because the daughter's and girlfriend once upon a time were really good people but they've sadly succumbed to his disgusting way of life! I worked for these losers years ago and was taught to tell these poor customers the same thing they did! (I didn't know any better, it was my first job in a tanning salon.) Then when I learned what they were doing (more specifically Joey), I quit immediately and warned as many clients as possible and got a job at a REAL salon. They don't even add you into the system. They do it infront of you and then click "cancel" as soon as you walk away and just put you under a different name! The lotion gig? Classic! Refusing tan with lotion? Whatever. Bills going unpaid and services being shut down constantly! TRY A PROFESSIONAL SALON: Like Paradise or South Beach. They're a little pricey but your money is well spent!

Smart thinking never being at the new salon Joey. Like the commenter above said, you can put lipstick on a pig and IT'S STILL A PIG. The sad part is, he lures his most precious guest in with discounts. There was always the REAL price and the OFFERED price if they wouldn't buy. Random credit card statements with no trace? Joey Magluilo. I've watched multiple girl's parents come in and try and find a medium with him and he did nothing but be disrespectful and act rude and pretty much tell the client off before they had the chance to even come to some sort of conclusion or settlement and then hand off a fake name (as did the girlfriend). I hope he goes down and so does she! Who would want to marry such a lying, disgusting thief? How is he even granted the luxury of being called Dad? Guess that's why the took care of the second one.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS! You can put a lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig! These people live to scam you and take your money. What's pathetic about them is that they would have a decent client base on a consistent base but they continuously burn (no pun intended) everyone usually on their first sign-up so they never have repeat customers. When i was scammed I talked to a rep at HT who told me that they were overwhelmed with complaints from the franchises owned by this family. Benay
(the owner) frequently creates accounts to combat reviews from scammed people even going so far as to pose as teenage girls. They've already been stripped of their franchise name and are just trying to open up the same operation under a new name. You've been warned!

Oh the measures these people will go is unbearable.. Benay, Courtney, Joey, and Candice, self promotion is ok, but if you have to pretend to be someone else to do it, then that's HILARIOUS and PATHETIC. (aka Kristina86 and Michelle) I hope your business fails, because Karma is a jerk, and You've ripped a lot of people off. So many people willing to go out of their way to warn others about your scams.. If only I had been warned before buying a 3 month package at your stroud store, only to be told I couldn't use it because my Lotion had expired. I hope you're not using that one anymore, because even HOLLYWOOD tan HQ didn't back you up on it. And I see you were recently removed from the website, I imagine it's because they're sick of defending you. I couldn't imagine how terrible you must feel to be this hated. I couldn't imagine because I would never CON people for a living. You're getting exactly what you deserve and hopefully will be shut down. Every one should search Hollywood Tans Stroudsburg on the BBB website, the amount of complaints is astounding, but not surprising. Good Luck with your "great experiences" because they eventually will become horrid memories.

"Michele" if you are Happy and love it there, then why are you on a complaints board? Unlesss of course you are Benay & company trying to plug your new scam salon? My bad, I mean tan salon. It sure sounds like a commercial for Exotic Tans instead of just a happy customer. Just a note, "WHY" do you think people have posted here negative things? Hmmm... could it be because they were ALL SCAMMED possibly? Oh and those wonderful machines that get "so hot" are just used Hollywood Tan's machines from their other business they sold. Now you can ask yourself why would they sell one tanning business and open another one in a different name? Hmmm... something to ponder.
Happy Tanning "Michele"

I have recently signed up at Exotic Tans & Spa in Brodheadsville. The place is honestly gorgeous I've never seen a tanning salon this nice in all my life. It's SO clean. I bought a 3 month package at a great price they had so many options. I love it here I know I've only been tanning there for a week but I can already tell by the vibe that it is going to be a great experience! I don't know why all of these people are writing bad reviews cause I can't say one thing that I don't like about the place. Their machines get so hot I've never experienced a tan as intense as this and I've been tanning for a long time! I absolutely love it here and would recommend it to anyone I know.

BAD NEWS SALON. They not only were owners of the Broadheadsville salon (Joey) but also the Stroudsburg & Marshalls Creek salon (Benay & Joey & Candice) which has since been SOLD. Very sneaky and untrustworthy comes to mind. Joey lied to me also saying that you must use our lotions or you can't tan and then telling me a month later I needed to buy another bottle because the one I had was "expiring"! The new location has tanning beds from the other salons! They say HOLLYWOOD TANS on them! My friends also were told the same tanning lotion scam. Same people, same machines just different name & location. Good Luck with them replacing the bulbs also!

Me and all my friends have signed up there and we've had nothing but good experiences. We have all only went tanning three times and we have more color than we've ever gotten going anywhere else. There beds are SO strong.. the laydown is Amazing! The prices are so cheap I was so suprised when the told me their packages because I was paying double the price everywhere else! The girls are so friendly when you go in go out of their way to greet you as for the other salons it feels like your an inconvience as soon as you walk in the door! I don't understand why you wouldn't give them a try and how you could say negative things when you haven't even gone in to see for yourself! I don't care who works there as long as I'm getting tan and its a nice atmosphere to be in thats all that matters! Me and my friends all switched salons for a reason. All i'm saying is i've had nothing but a good experience and I would recommend Everyone to go check it out for themselves!

IT's the same scam they ran at Hollywood. It's the same "owners" only they were smart enough to keep the biggest scam artests of the family away. (Joey and Benay) You might have a few good experiences, but eventually you'll feel ripped off, because they con people for a living. Just read Hollywood tans reviews, 'cause you're dealing with the same family. A BUNCH of dirtballs. When you go in, notice they have Hollywood Tans beds.. HMmmmm... And they say they're not the same owners, even they know how shady they are.. That's why they lie about who owns it, because all of us dealt with Joey when he worked at the Hollywood Tans in BRoadheadsville. Stay tanning where you're at, because you might get an ok tan here, but you'll get terrible service, and scammed into buying things you don't need, and by scammed I mean forced into buy it, or they won't let you tan. Tell Candice (Joey's sister) and Courtney (Joeys girl friend) that you're NOT buying the whole out of the family [censored].

I just signed up for a membership at the new Exotic Tan & Spa in the West End Plaza and I found out that IT IS NOT THE SAME OWNERS! This salon offers more services then just tanning! The prices are half price compared to any other salon in the area. I just have to question if this guy isnt still working at the salon then why is hollywood tans still getting the same complaints...I would suggest to everyone to come into the salon and see for yourself what they have to offer. The massages are out of this world! but make sure you schedule your appointment in advance because I realized that the women who does the massages books quickly!
