Their web site brags: "DES MOINES' EMERGENCY RELIEF FOR TEETH

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Because Pain Can't Wait"SM
Emergency Dental Care USA in Des Moines provides quality, urgent dental care seven days a week including holidays. Our experienced emergency dentists are able to treat just about any of your dental emergencies."

YET IF YOU GO TO THEIR OFFICE OR CALL THEIR PHONE NUMBER YOU ARE TOLD THEY ARE CLOSED FOR FOUR DAYS. They don't even have doctors or dentists on call. You are told to just wait until Sunday when they re-open. How's THAT for emergency dental care!? What a great review.

My 23 yr. old granddaughter developed a toothache over the Christmas Holiday. She has been told that this tooth needed to be pulled but she decided to wait until after Christmas. She decided she just couldn't wait so she called an Emergency Dental Clinic in our area. She was quoted $55 for x rays and $150 for the extraction. She called me and asked me to pay for it. I said O.K. She made the appointment for 6 p.m. Saturday the 26th. She called me from their office at 7:15 and told me she had been there for over an hour and they would not pull the tooth until they had the money up front. Also, that the price went up to $350. During the one hour and fifteen minutes, the dentist examined her teeth and told her that it was a shame to pull that tooth which is located near the back of her mouth. Talked to her about saving the tooth for more money. This is an emergency clinic. She didn't go in there to find a new dentist and have alot of work done. She called me and I told her no... I would not pay that amount. He pulls the tooth for $150 plus $55 for x rays or she should leave. Well, a lady in the office got on the phone with me and told me that I would have pay $55 before my granddaughter could leave. I drove to the office at 8 p.m. and handed over my credit card. She asked for I.D. although my picture is right there on the credit card. I feel sorry for young people who do not have dental insurance. An insurance company would never pay for work without investigating the charge. I feel this was a "Bait and Switch" scam. A person is in pain and desperate for relief, told one price and then before they will do the work, charge more. I would not send anyone to this Emergency Dental Clinic or send anyone to Byemong Kim, DMD unless you like to be scammed and cheated.

The services are great for those in need of dental emergencies, however, they rip people off when you pay them up front and your dental insurance pays them as well. You have to fight tooth and nail on getting your refund. Im still working on getting it back. If they do this to someone they know works for the major insurance company who paid them, beware on what they might do to others. Just BEWARE DO NOT PAY THIS OFFICE UP FRONT IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE. This is the worst providers office I have EVERRRRRRRRRRRRR had to deal with all my years in working in the insurance business and that includes providers throughout the U.S. I was NEVER in the wrong they ARE and they fail to refund my original payment. This has been going on since February ... and in difficult economic times $400.00 is quite a bit of money to some, and to me. Theyve left me no other alternative than to submit a complaint to the dental board and the insurance commissioners office. The best of luck to those who go to this office. My suggestion would be to find another dentist if you're in need of an emergency dentist.
