ECO Shield came to the door offering a pest control program on July 27th. Having had a good service for pest control in another state I signed up. Unlike PCI which I later contacted, ECO Shield has you sign a contract and initial the 3-day cancelation policy. Their service on that day did not get rid of my spiders and I got bit 6x in August.
They sprayed on July 27th and on August 3rd I got 2 spider bites. Four days later when seeing my doctor for a routine appointment she prescribed steroid cream to manage the bites.
August 14th I was bit twice again on my legs and this tie the bites got infected within 24 hours with large welts. The emergency room doctor prescribed a strong antibiotic. Again I tried sweeping the spider colonies away. On August 24th, Monday, I called for a follow-up treatment. On Friday August 28th when I called they said they were too busy that week and would be able to come out Sept. 14th. By this time I had been bitten 6x and the last 2 bites were treated with Zyrtec 2x a day to reduce the swelling, heat from the bites reaction and to manage the itchiness.
I canceled ECO Shield for not meeting expectations of controlling the spider colonies on my front porch and not following up in a timely manner.
I researched and contacted PCI Pest Control over the weekend and they arranged to come out first thing Monday Morning.
He explained my problem, swept/brushed as much as he could and donned protective gear unlike ECO Shield, before spraying. He took at least an hour and offered a 90-day guarantee which has been great.
PCI was fabulous and got the spider colonies under control. I haven't gotten any bites since.
Although I have paid 2 monthly payments totaling roughly $170, ECO Shield still wants me to pay $265.58 for canceling, roughly amounting to 6 months of service. I feel their casual treatment on July 27th was insufficient to handle my spider problem and they could not come out for the follow-up in a timely manner.
DO NOT Hire ECO Shield.
The 3-day cancelation policy does not give a client sufficient time to assess their effectiveness.
Country of complaint: United States
Claimed loss: Having to pay a cancelation fee of $265.58 after paying 2 monthly installments for less than 1 hour of pest control service for my spider problem.
Desired outcome: I want to warn others and possibly leave a trail of complaints regarding ECO Shield so others are not stuck with their cancelation fees when their service does not meet expectations.
