In planning our 43rd Wedding Anniversary Diamond Resorts International Hilton Grand Vacations Total FAILURE!
It was my year to plan the surprise trip for our Anniversary. My wife has no idea where she would be going. Next year my wife will plan the Anniversary trip and I won’t know where I am going. This is something we always look forward to.
We were sold this Dream of taking Paradise Vacations to 36 Magical Destinations. While planning our trip I said this trip needs to be special. Our anniversary is June 9th, I asked what resorts in Sedona Az. could we stay at? I was told Sedona was not available until December. (I called several Resorts in Sedona and I could book them Myself.) I was offered only ONE destination, Scottsdale, AZ which was 30 minutes from where I live. This is already a Failure! I don’t want to go to Scottsdale! I have lived in Arizona since 1978, Scottsdale is my Backyard. OKAY, since we don’t stay at the Fancy resorts in Scottsdale and we never go to the Fancy Golf Resorts, I thought lets try and make this work. While Diamond-Hilton was securing the dates at the Links Resort, I’m booking our Golfing because they were no help through the vacation package. Our booking time for golf, is 6:00 am. We need to play as early as possible because June is hot in Arizona. Our Tee time is now 6:00am. We are checking in on Monday, Golfing Tuesday and Wednesday, then checking out on Thursday. I am now told I have to attend a 9:30 AM meeting that I did not know about. We would not be back from the golf course by 9:30 AM.
They were not flexible on the meeting times and days, but I was, I told them I was available when I checked in, available after golf at 10:30, and available when I checked out. They Said: You can not go to a meeting the day you check in or check out, (Are you kidding me?) Diamond Refused to book our stay at the Links Resort because I could not be at the 9:30 AM. Meeting.
The concierge heard about the Total Failure to book at the Links and she booked a stay for us through her process not using our vacation package. She was able to book a 12:30 PM meeting for us. Because this stay at the Links was not where we wanted to Stay, this trip turned into my Wife’s 30 years of Teaching, Retirement Celebration.
The concierge knowing we were not able to use our vacation package says she knows just the person to help plan our Anniversary Trip. Talking to the new agent I asked to go somewhere special, and we were happy to get on a Plane to travel to the 36 Magical Destinations. (He also told me Sedona was not available until December.) He only offered one place, Las Vegas. (Are you kidding me?) I don’t want to go to Las Vegas, I have a timeshare there. He still only offered one option it was the Cancun Resort in Las Vegas. Now he tells me the dates that I wanted to go were not available. I gave him new dates, I received a E-mail_Request was DENIED! NO other offers or help to book at any other resorts. This agent was worthless and very difficult to contact. After 5 Days of trying to get the Vacation Package to work for this Trip and than Denied Twice. > I called the Cancun myself and booked a room for the dates we needed in three minutes, not using the vacation package. I wanted to prove that there were rooms available.
We could not use our vacation package at all! Now it’s time to go to the 12:30 meeting at the Links Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. The agent starts doing her sales pitch. We have documented 9 pages of problems of not being able to use our vacation package. (NOW MORE) Once she heard we had problems all she wanted to do was get us out of there. It was only fair to ask for our money back and would not be making any more payments. She said you will not get your money back, And you will end up in court for the remaining balance owed. (You only have 7 days to cancel the contract. You do not get a chance to try a few trips to see if it’s everything they sold You.) We asked for a supervisor, she told us the same thing and you don’t get your Money back and will have to keep paying or you will end up in court. I told them I can not wait to talk to the Judge. Commonsense is: If you Fail to produce what you Sold, Fix It. The agent and the supervisor said the reason why we were NOT Offered any other Resort locations was because, “They did not have enough sales people on staff." We we asked to leave the facility with no resolution to all of the Problems, This was a complete Failure.
Instead of letting people travel to all of the Resorts and enjoy a dream vacation that was sold to us. Diamond Resorts International Hilton Grand Vacations is all about Sales. It is what works for them and not what works for the Traveler. And if they can sweet talk you into
signing that Contract their Job is done.
We now travel to Vegas to stay at the Cancun resort in Vegas. This now is a mission to prove Cancun, Hilton resort had rooms available, and a chance to talk with a Manager or someone in a position that would help correct all of the Problems. We talked with several staff members that told us that the Hilton was not going to fix anything. We exhausted ourselves trying to find someone to resolve this nightmare. Only because we received a contact to see how we liked the Resort I told them the resort is Great, but we have Problems. She talked to her Manager and we were directed for the next Morning to meet with “Quality Assurance.” We were put with an agent and were told that she was from “Quality Assurance”, she was NOT. She had only been with Hilton for two months. We were put with her just to stonewall us, she said that she was sorry but she could not do anything for us. We did not give up, we contacted the VIP of Hilton Vacations, they could NOT do anything and gave us the corporate number to contact. After waiting on hold for 45 minutes, they told us they would contact us in 3-5 days. More BS and run around.
While we were at the resorts we talked to several other guests and found numerous problems and angry people trying to use their “Vacation Package” and they said it was a nightmare trying to get get their problems solved.
Do not get involved with Hilton Grand Vacations it is legalized crime and once you sign the contract they do not care about you or your vacation, all they care about is money and they stand by their lies. This whole Experience Ruined our Anniversary!
