I had the account in Startec Global Communication. I didn’t use it within 2 months and when I tried to open this account, the website showed that my account was closed. I immediately contacted the customer services, and their agent informed me that as I didn’t use the account, they were entitled to close the account and keep my money. I tried to persuade the agent, but everything what I told was useless.
Startec Global Communications - Telephone rate charges
We utilized their non-contract service, just dial this number and get a low rate of 8.9 cents per minute. We did and received charges on our house phone bill of 89 cents for the first minute, and 30 cents per additional minute. This company has addresses in at least Maryland and Texas. Join the movement, contact the Attorney Generals in these states and demand an investigation. The web sites are:

The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I had problems with Startec Global at the time of settlement of the final bill - I was overcharged and had to exchange several emails with customer service till the issue was settled to my satisfaction. I submitted a complaint to the FCC (http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm).
This is a fraudulent company. They raised their minimum monthly usage charge from some $3/month to some $8/month, without any advance notification. No one answers their listsed phone numberws. The same voicemail message answers, no matter which one of their listed numbers you dial. They do not answer emails. They do not answer written communications. I wanted to cancel my service. Eventually, I fired this company, after paying them $19.00 which I honestly and firmly believe I did not owe them. Startec -- a fraud.
