Rainier Overseas Movers / Scammer and Liars

3 WA, United States Review updated:

The Scammers are Doug Wiviott and Rainier Overseas Movers not their competition.

I requested quotes on the internet for my move to Brazil.
I was looking forward to getting quotes from the companies recommended on Moving Scam.
Rainier Overseas Movers replied with email containing frightening information and warnings about three of their competitors.
In Doug Wiviott of Rainier Overseas Movers own words “criminal…scam artist of the world… change their name and address every 2-3 years...”
I received a quote from one of these “criminals” and as a friend of mine used them and was extremely happy with their service, I confronted their sales person.
I was transferred to the owner who assured me that these are lies and provided me with proof that his company has the same name from date of incorporation 6 years ago, in addition they did not change their offices or their warehouses locations (they own both properties).
Moving Scam is recommending Rainier Overseas Movers, yet it is obvious that Doug Wiviott is spreading lies about his competitors making Rainier Overseas Movers the scammer.

Is this the same Rainier Overseas Moving that "sponsers" the site? There is a lot of information on the web about the dubious nature of that site. I thought I saw some documentation about a lawsuit against the owner of, Tim Walker, and some of his associates (the name Sharon Bayolo aka Music Mom seemed to come up a lot). I'd be extremely weary of any information obtained off that site and any company that sponsors or associates with it.

Anyway, that being said, a very interesting post. That is an underhanded tactic for Rainier Overseas to use! Sounds like they are trying to cover up short-comings in their own service by attacking their competition. Typical ### business move. Why put the effort into improving your own business when you can smear the other guy.

Rainier Overseas Movers was established in 1979 and handles over 5000 international moves per year, making Rainier one of the oldest, largest and most respected international moving companies in the world.

Rainier Overseas Movers has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau [BBB]

The only site that Rainier sponsOrs is its own website

The accusations made against Rainier on this site are obviously groundless and most likely made by some unhappy competitor that is trying to slander Rainier for their own benefit.

We are quite confident that our potential clients will do their homework and connect with the thousands of satisfied customers and corporations that use Rainier Overseas Movers.

We actually used Rainier Overseas movers to move from Cincinnati to the U.K. They were very professional, especially Mark Lawson who always answered our emails on time. We moved our household goods and our car and needed a 40 ft container. Their quote was one of the cheapest and their positive reviews and A+ rating influenced our decision.

There were no hidden fees or extra costs, except we had to pay an extra £480 ($750) "Shuttle Service fee" to the local movers (Rainer did not profit from that). This is a fee that is charged when your goods have to be transferred to a smaller truck because the large moving truck cannot access your home. We also paid a few quid to have our goods x-rayed at customs. And also, our car arrived with a flat battery so we had to call a garage to start it, and eventualy had to change the battery.

Overall it was a smooth move and would definitely use Rainer movers again. They never talked bad about other movers, and were upfront about costs. The packers/movers were very careful and polite. Only a cheap mirror broke and the bed got chipped but other than that no casualties! Considering the amount of stuff we had, this was nothing. I even had silver jewellery and silver icons among the stuff, and they all made it safe and sound. We also forgot some expensive stuff in the car (car converters and cds) but nothing was stolen. We were very happy with the whole service.

Hope you find this useful. I higly recommend Rainier to anyone planning an international move. Also, try to itemize and insure your goods.

Rainier are trying to charge me extra $170 as they say my address is not in their normal service area. Also another $288 as they say, without proof, that they are not allowed to park on my road, so will have to use a smaller van, " the long carry" extra that I have now heard about.

I just moved to New Zealand from the US and completely agree that Doug Wiviott of Rainier Overseas Movers is a liar. He lied about every aspect of our move from the initial quote, departure and arrival of goods, and additional fees once received in NZ. He blames 3rd parties involved and never steps up to accept any responsibility. His ability to communicate once receiving a signed contract is completely unprofessional. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Well...I looked into all my emails and found that I was wrong with my comment above. I just didn't read everything carefully enough. Tried to remove comment but not able to. Sorry for the bad comment Rainier. Ahhh...moving is just too stressful.

I'm dropping my jaws at the reviews I see above!!! I own a Baltimore, MD. based Drayage Company, and Rainier Overseas is one of my customers for whom I handle shipment. I can absolutely assure you they're not a scam company! I cannot speak for how much they charge customers, but, I can absolutely assure you they're extremely friendly people, down to earth, and have ALWAYS paid me on time for many years! I'm wondering if the reviews above are the result of some imposter or something? I'm happy to state my credentials and give honest reference to Rainier.
