About a month ago i signed up on this site for a 1 day £1.00 VIP membership using my wifes card as my bank hasnt sent me a new one. This site did not mention any other charges or monthly fees. Then suddenly on Wednesday 31st August 2011 pointshop.co.uk took £45 from my wifes card which came out of her child tax credit which we urgently need for our baby. Today i then tried to access my account to cancel the account but they failed to send me a password reminder email which i requested so i cant access the account to cancel it. I also cant phone there phonenumber as its barred from mine and my wifes phone, could someone help me claim the money back and also cancel the account ?
Company Business Name: PointShop.co.uk
Country of complaint: United States
They did the same to me, although I read about the £45 a month charge, I cancelled this within 2 days of signing up so I wouldn't be charged. They still took my £45 & now I am getting ready to fight for it back
Same here! I cancelled within 7 days of the 'free' trial and still got charged £45! The cancellation didn't get processed and they wouldn't refund me as I didn't have a cancellation email from them! Total, total con artists. Will tell EVERYONE I know to stay away.
I subscribed with Pointshop to receive the free Angry Birds Toy promotion. Unfortunately, they required me to verify my address before I could send off for the toy. I did so but never received any letter etc through the post. I believe that this is a delay tactic to make people forget they have signed up so they are automatically charged the renewal fee of... wait for it... £45! £45 per month for nothing! Anyway, being a bit more smart minded than that, I cancelled withing the 14 days only to be charged the £45 today! This was my Christmas living money until the 30th! I logged on and to my shock horror, they had not deactvated my VIP membership. I have now repeated this action but am terrified they will take another £45 next month so will cancel my card after all my bills are paid next month. Have read numerous complaints about this company taking £45 for nothing, total rip off and scam. I wonder how many people have signed up to this and do not realise they are baing charged? I am now in the position of having no money over Xmas unless they refund me straight away!
ive just been done, how do you tackle this, im desperate
ive just been done, how can i get my money back :((((
Same here, I accepted the free trial and unfortuntely given some personal issues overlooked the timeline to cancel by 2 days. They took £25 from my account and refuse to refund it in any form stating that the terms of the agreement are clear for all to see. The latest reply from them read,
"I assure you that you have not been ripped off - we gave you the service we said we would when you purchased the trial and thereafter when your membership turned in to a full VIP membership. Our terms were clearly stated on the landing page of the offer you purchased. Furthermore, I can assure you PointShop is a very reputable company as we provide our serives to well over 7 million members across Europe. I can only reiterate that the terms you accepted yourself were very clear".
Not hopeful of a response though!
I've just been done by them as well. They did not make it clear at all and I intend to fight back for my money. What a con! Stay away from these scams artists please!
me too how can i get my money back ?
I am going through the disputes department with my bank. Am writing the letter and filling in the forms now. I can't believe that they can get away with this, its disgusting. I had no reciept, filled in no request for Direct Debit, recieved no notification of them taking the money, no invoice. I have not set up a standing order and recieved no service, or product from them. Fair Trading? I don't think so. STAY AWAY!
Has anyone managed to get their money back?! This is a downright scam! I now have £3 to live off! I'm a student, I get £30 a week to live off plus a little savings. If anyone manages it please please please contact me!
They were also able to acquire my card details just an hour ago although luckily it occurred to me to check the legitimacy of the site and found out about these reviews! what i did is i phoned my bank immediately (hours after ive given the pointshop.co.uk site my card details). The bank advised me to block my card (since they cant do anything about a certain company taking money from you once you've given them your card details) and order a new one so it would be rendered useless. This kind of setting is really unfair as no one was ever advised that money will be taken away from their account. If you are reading this while they have not taken money from you yet, it is best to take action now! for the time being, i'm hoping that no charge will ever be made to my account. if ever some charge was still made, the bank advised to contact them back again and push the matter to the disputes department. Hopefully, the people responsible for this scam be punished as deserved.
Absolutely a rip off company. Got charged £46 for basically nothing. Jeanette or whatever her name is, is refusing a refund and will not even pass me on to anyone else like a manager. Is she the only one who is in this company? Has anyone managed to claim back their money. Probably got 7 million customers through forcing them to subscripe to them!
pointshop.co.uk are a complete scam company obtaining details under false promises. I have never heard of them before and have no idea how they obtained my details, so my bank have just refunded me the full £136 from their fraud investigation department and have now placed pointshop.co.uk under fraud investigation. Just hope it catches up with them eventually! But just to advise all others that your bank have a responsibility to refund the money if your card details have been taken without your knowledge as these are going through as Point of sale transactions, not direct debits which means it is illegal for them to take money without permission. This is what Natwest bank advised me today and within an hour they refunded the full amount. Then it is their job to try and recover it back from pointshop - Good luck to them i say!
yes the same bank as the previous post, nat west refunded the full amount £135 with very little hassle just standard criteria. possibly they are wise to this type of fraud now anyway the way to go is with the bank and let them deal with the fraudsters
I have also been ripped off by this company. I cancelled the very same day I joined and a month later they took £45 out of my account. Tried contacting them online several times but have received no reply. I am now going through the dispute process with my bank to get the money back, my bank is now going to keep a check on my account so they cannot take any more money off me. This company is despicable and should be made shut down.
I have also had £45 taken and not recieved the toothbrush, in the original email there was nothing to say about taking £45
I have just discovered that Pointshop have taken £136 from my account and I have received nothing in exchange. I'm furious. The bank has changed my card and I phoned Denmark to try and get my money back but have had no joy. I email them every day pleading for a compromise out of good will but they say I signed up to their service - I thought I was getting a toothbrush! I'm going to see if Santander are as sympathetic as Natwest. The bit I don't understand is that I did give my card details in order to receive the toothbrush...they say I ticked the box signing up to their terms and conditions, which apparently stated that £45 was going to be taken from my account so am not sure what to say to the bank...Has anyone else had a refund from Santander?
I have the same problem as the post above, I am in contact with pointshop every day & they always say the same thing, that I signed up to it. I don't think so! Money came out of my account on the 28 April, should I still phone the bank or have I left it too late?
the same thing has happened to me. i thought i was buying a toothbrush for £1 and even though i sent several emails to cancel this as i had not recived the toothbrush within a week now they have taken out £45 this is a real scam and i hope these people are caught and sent to jail
I phoned my bank & they wouldn't do anything about it, £46.00 down & no toothbrush, I am constantly contacting pointshop.co.uk & not getting anywhere. I wonder if Jeanette Morgan (customer support) sleeps at night.
omg! same just happened to me. £45 taken out of my bank AFTER i cancelled . the 2 week free trial . 2 days into it! also i got my bank to call em up and the rude ignorance of their customer service is appalling. im furious! why isnt this company shut down? im on disability and cannot afford to lose that huge £45 . and they DONT answer your emails at all. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
im also looking into trading standards and the citizen advice bureau. also going to write to martin lewis on daybreak tv...for advice on this. i want my money back.
after reading all these complaints bout pointshop company im not alone! i too have been scammed out of £45 . and i am now looking into citizen advice bureau, trading standards...and im also going to write to martin lewis on daybreak tv...for advice.
I was scammed by these people point shop yesterday as i noticed on my bank statement £45 had been taken out of my account and as i did not know where it went i phoned up my bank and the bloke on the phone said its gone to pointshop unaware i did not realise it was a monthly subscription so i decided to delete my account after gaining my password as i had forgotten it and now i have to cancel my card and change bank details now i have heard back from then and was told that i would not get refund so i suggest anybody in my situation please get new bank card and delete your account i thought i was buying a braun toothbrush for a pound ovioiusly not bunch of scammers please do not trust or join upto this site as you will get scammed
Hi again, great news my bank - Santander have refunded me 3 lots of £45 that pointshop ripped me off. Don't give up trying with the bank - get transferred to the disputes department and raise a case. This is fraud, so your bank has to act on it. They need to shut this company down. I never got the toothbrush! It was a total con.
Good luck!
i was had twice they have taken 2x 45.00 and my bank i applyed for a £1.00 tooth brush which i did not recieve and my bank say theres nothing they can do about it so now i will have to close my bank account which ive had for over 20 yrs this is appaling
POINTSHOP UK ARE A TOTAL SCAM COMPANY! They just done the same to me! I didn't even go ahead with the toothbrush order, and really thought I had cancelled the whole thing! Then out of the blue £ 45 just gets taken out of my account! I am disabled and went into hospital 3 days after I thought I had cancelled the account! Having told them all this, what do they do CALL ME A LIAR! Then say no refunds! Not even when you tell the truth! They have no hearts and don't care how they ROB PEOPLE! Because for all intent and purposes I FEEL AS IF I'VE BEEN MUGGED! They are no different than THIEVES! SOMETHING HAS GOT TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS COMPANY!
i have just been in touch with trading standards this morning as i had 45pound taken out of my bank account on friday and could find out what it was till to day the man from trading standards said he could not do anything as it was out side the uk and that i had to go back to my bank and tell them that i wanted a reclaim as it was an unauthorised transaction

next thing i know today they took £29 from my account i managed to block my card and order a new one however im worried that they will prob try n take it out tonight. could anyone tell me if they had similar issues to mine
I have been took for £45 and £29.97 by pointshop all i did was fill in a servey and asked for a 10p and a £1 for doing this servey and this is what it as cost me.I have been into the bank to get a stop put on it and as soon i had put in the money to cover the overdrawn i was at the bank they took that as well.all i get from the bank was the trancation was done before i put the block on so there is nothing they can do.I think its a froud to do this but when i told the banks froud dipartment they say it is ligitamate bisnness so its not froud then what is it when they take money without your consent. so does that meen that anybody can take moey out of your account when you pay somthing over the counter.hope this will help others who are in the situation as me.
I recieved an e-mail about a £1 toothbrush, something i never recieved, they have since taken £45 out twice which has made me go overdrawn and thus, getting bank charged! When i tried contacting them (on a premium rate number!) i was on hold for 20 minutes and then the line went dead. I have e-mailed rip off Britain and This Morning warning others about this scam and i suggest everyone else does the same as the more people who complain about this the more likely we are to get our money back and end the scam.
Yes the government and police needs to intervene. As I believe this is immoral and illegal activity, and a lot of people are getting con. We need to fight back

I had the same thing happen to me they took £1 out when I joined they then took out £45 on the 30 August have seen nothing for my money as far as I am concerned this is fraud and a total scam.I am wondering how to get my money back.I do not want any more mony leaving my bank account or other people getting scammed by them.
The way to get to these people may be through the Danish authorities.See the reply to my question on Yahoo Answers under Other-Business and Finance, by a Danish businessman.Maybe we can all get a result this way!
Further to earlier comment:Went to my bank(LTSB) today and their" fraud squad" is refunding the £45 but may want it back if I can't provide documentary evidence.Like a naive fool, I deleted all record of my dealings with them, and as I don't have a printer or other back-up gismos I may be on a sticky wicket as they said that as far as they know this is a law-abiding, honest company.I'll give them a few days, then contact the Danish authority.Could get the b...ds under Danish Consumer Protection Law
They have taking 45 pound from my account and the bank refunded me and then later the they claim it back from NatWest bank the bank debited the money for them. I phoned the bank they said I have to contact the pointshop.co. UK which i did and there is no refund is made is been 8 days I am so upset about this don'T KNOW WHAT TO DO PLEASE CAN SOME ONE HELP ME GET MY MONEY BACK :s
Absolutely disgusted with this company who have taken nearly £150 out of my account and will not refund is there anything I can do to get this money back? Please someone help?
Weere ripped off too to the ne of£390 all for aBraun toothbrush. PontShop are fraudsters
We were also scammed by PointShop. Paying £1 by Visa for a offer for a Braun electric tothbrush this bogus company used my details to take £390 from my bank account over several months. They flatly refuse to give a refund as they say that when buying the toothbrush I became a VIP Member of PointShop at a staggering cost of £45 per month apart from buying the damn toothbrushn. I didn't agree to anything. This compay needs investigating for fraud.
