Contacted over the phone about a vacation cruise from Newport Travel - 8 days and 7 nights. I charged this trip to my Master Card on May 20, 2015 in the amount of $498.00 with the understanding that this covered everything for the trip. I then received a certificate from TriStar Marketing requesting $65.00 to be paid to Vacation Getaways which is a member of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce in California for a 2 night hotel accommodations and roundtrip airfare for two at an exciting location. There would, also, be a processing fee of $150.00 per person plus other expenses.The airfare for two was not free either. Once reservations are confirmed, a service fee will be levied for all charges, cancellations or no-shows, in addition to charges levied by the airline or travel service provider. The extra fees went on and on to my dismay. I am requesting a refund of my initial payment of $498.00 from Newport Travel. Nancy Hollingsworth
I have been scammed too! Paid Newport Travel $698.00 back in November 2014, didn't use the trip but had hundreds of phone calls since saying I needed to pay additional money to keep the opportunity active, I paid it with the understanding I could use it anytime and the only fees would be port fees, then today, 3/24/16 I get a horrid call from a Michael Harris (nice generic name) from a phone number in Texas [protected] saying that if I don't pay the remaining $199/person now, and yes it's pre paid for port fees...ugh...really? then they are sending me to collections for over $1, 200.00 as the vacation needs to be used or they will come after the money wasted by not taking the trip. He had my debit card information, but had my last name wrong...interesting...and when I told him I already paid another amount of money to ensure I could use the vacation anytime, he said that was a fraudulent statement as they have no record of me ever paying any additional money and that was I sure I paid Omega with Carnival, wait what!? It was Newport Travel I initially paid per my bank, so now that's concerning to me. Then he went on and on about how I was a fraud. He was the rudest, most vile individual I have ever talked to in my lifetime! He was very aggressive, mean, and couldn't say enough about how I was fraudulent and a smooth talker and all kinds of weird stuff. I have reported them to the BBB with a request to ensure no amount of money is turned over to collections and that no further amounts of money are charged to my card. Hoping something comes of this, it's outrageous and horrible!
