INSINKERATOR warranty. What a bluff!.
In December 2009 I bought an INSINKERATOR PROEXCEL 1 HP. One of the main incentives I had was the product’s seven year warranty. After one year using the product, it presented a problem. I called the company, which confirmed the 7 yr. warranty. A customer service representative tried to help me to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, it was clear then that a technician had to check it to assess it. I was told that the warranty covered only manufacturing defects. That is, if the technician attested during the visit that there was not a manufacturing defect, I had to pay for the visit. Almost certainly, after one year using it, there was no manufacturing problem. However, just to come to my house the repair service charged $150. If any part had to be replaced, it would probably cost me more than I paid for the product. The 7 year warranty is deceitful. If there is no manufacturing problem right away, there is no use for it. In this case, they could offer a lifetime warranty. No one can use it, unless is willing to risk a couple of hundred dollars for a technician visit.

Insinkerator supposedly provides a 3 year warranty...they treat you rudely and offer excuses rather than help. Much time on the phone wasted with customer service. Don't use their products.

I have their batch feed model 17-85. After 7 years the on off switch malfunctioned. Unit would keep running even when I removed stopper. Had their authorized repair people replace the switch. Less than two years later, on off switch again runs after stopper is removed. Called their customer service rep who said they would sell me a new disposal at a discount. With labor, it would cost me close to $350. I asked them to replace the on off switch which was less than two years old, for free and I'd pay for the labor. They refused. Obviously their replacement parts are built to fail. I would not recommend Insinkerator, as their products are substandard and they do not provide any support to their customers.

We bought the $319 dollar model from Lowe's. They advertise a 7 year in home warranty, parts and labor. It froze up, so we tried to find the contact number on the insinkerator website. Finally, after a search from hell, we call them. First, they tell us to use the allen wrench that came with it 5 years ago. I didn't have it. They offered to mail one and said it could take up to 2 weeks. We a waited patiently for two weeks, with a kitchen sink that is unusable (as well as an unusable dishwasher - they're connected). Two weeks later, we called the company, they said they mailed the allen wrench, but it was lost in the mail. Finally, a week later (three weeks total) it arrived. The allen wrench will not turn the machine at all. So we call them back. They won't do anything without the serial number, which isn't printed on the Lowe's receipt. We get down on our back under the sink and photograph the back of the machine with a smart phone to get the serial number. They tell us to wait patiently for their local contractor to contact us to set up an in home appointment, this could be "up to 2 weeks". It's been a week and we haven't been contacted. We are now making phone calls again. What a circus!

Had success with complaint - called and sent email and after Insinkerator received photo of damaged part inside the disposal they sent us a replacement. We were very happy with their handling of the defective item.
