Want to get them back?!

The companies real name is GRC, or General Revenue Corp. They are owned by Sallie Mae and do all of their collections for the company. GRC's Info is below, along with 3 easy steps on how to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for Illegal Practices.

The following link takes you to a site which outlines what collection agencies are and are not allowed to do (like calling you outside of normal business hours at work, or whenever you specifically say it is inconvenient for you) - (http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/rules/collection-calls-5.html). They were recently sued for malpractice and if you read the link above you were probably a victim of malpractice, like myself. They are relentless!

Or call Michael Schneider of GRC...He responded to the BBB letter submitted below saying that their employees are "thoroughly trained" and my statements of harassment were unfounded...
His number is: [protected].

If Mr Schneider doesn't believe my claims, perhaps a few hundred calls will convince him of his "thoroughly trained" employees illegal practices.

PLEASE CONTACT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU ABOUT THIS COMPANY.

Easy step to follow:

1. Go to Better Business Bureau Website:
https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/GetStarted.aspx

2. Use the Info above for GRC City/State/Web info to file against Sallie Mae/GRC

3. File a complaint addressing your issue, similar to the one I filed, below.

BBB Representative,

I have mentioned several times to both to GRC (General Revenue) and Sallie Mae Representatives that it is both inconvenient and inappropriate when GRC (calling on behalf of Sallie Mae Collections) is calling me any earlier than 8am Pacific Standard time or on the weekends.

This morning (Sunday) as well as yesterday, I received several calls from phone number [protected] (GRC) without any voice message or contact information. All were received before 8am and another was received as early as 6:15am on Sunday morning! While at work I also received a phone message from a family member saying that GRC had contacted them. GRC not only disclosed the dollar amount that I owed, but that I was delinquent and they inferred she would be responsible if they were unable to get a hold of me. Obviously, this family member had no idea what the situation was and became frantically worried about me. She had no idea (nor had I at this point because no one had left a voice mail) that my account was only 10 days overdue and not one late fee had even been assessed yet! This family member is in no way related to these loans and was randomly called.

All of my information listed for Sallie Mae is both current and valid. I believe what GRC did by contacting someone about my debt and disclosing my financial information is bordering, if not blatantly illegal.

It is NEVER appropriate for any collections company to call my family member/neighbors/co-workers etc about my financial issues, nor do these have any influence in the situation. There would be no reason to contact them.

I have several Student loans through Sallie Mae and I have never made a payment more than 30 days past due.

I understand my rights and I have notified both Sallie Mae and GRC that I have reported them for poor business practices. If their employees do not know my rights they should have them review the following link:

http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/rules/collection-calls-5.html

Particularly Section 805(a): Collection calls to consumers. If it happens again, you may expect a call from my attorney.

I'm not sure if the GRC company is the same one that most of the complaints are taking about. GRC may stand for Gunty-Renker Corp, which seems to be more likely than the General Revenue Corp.

I am in complete agreement with the complaint. GRC
has contacted my employer, which was totally unecessary. They were very rude. I never knew this perkins loan was due. GRC states my loan is currently in default.

Yes, they suck -- they're on my ### too.

But complaining to the Better Business Bureau?!? Like a collection agency cares about what the BBB has to say about them. And the BBB is a relic leftover from the Eisenhower era!

If you're gonna go after them, get a hungry pit bull of attorney.

Sallie Mae does not know what they are doing! Maybe they do.

I received a bill for around $800 for a delinquent loan my son has, that I cosigned on. I sent the amount on the bill in by electronic payment through my bank.

When I received notice that I was still delinquent, I talked to them at Sallie Mae. Then they told me I owed $600 and had not received payment (the $800) I told them that they must have applied it to the wrong account. The lady told me that she could not make the correction without my son on the line. I then received a bill for $600.

Later, on the 17th of Feb, I called them from work . This person did not require my son to be there to make the correction. She applied the $800 to the account. I also told her that I had just sent Feb payment on the 15th of Feb.

Then I received mail around the 15th of March, saying I didn't make a payment. Again, same process, noting I had just sent March Payment.

This was the third time I had talked to someone about this. The lady this time told me to put Loan #6 on the payment and it would go to the correct account. This was the first person that told me that.

So, the March payment was screwed up too. I received a call on April 5th telling me I was delinquent. The person I talked to moved it to the correct account, supposedly. Since that time I have received 4 more calls telling me I was delinquent. The second call the person told me that it had been sent up to the supervisor to be corrected.

It is now the 18th of April. I received another call this morning. When I told the lady that they should not be calling me because they do not know how to get their business straight. I also told her I was writing down the dates of all of these calls. She told me that I shouldn't get an attitude.

I said goodbye and hung up. Then I came to my computer. This is blatant harassment.

I have confronted GRC and showed proof that CTU on-line and their charges are all false and i also filed a complaint against CTU with the BBB and the Indiana attorney general . I would think if GRC is owed by Sallie mae and CTU and other school's are using this GRC as a collector GRC will be bious. No matter what proof you send them that you did not owe a bill they will not listen. I flat out told this GRC and CTU that i refuse to pay that bogus bill. I also wrote GRC a " Drop dead letter " not to contact me anymore about this alleged debt. My attorney got in on it and so did a witness I had.
GRC has not contacted me anymore. Before this, back in 9/2009 they had the nerve to pull my credit when i have a credit freeze on my report. When i wrote that Drop dead letter i also told them that i will sue if they attempted to pull my credit again or even contact me. I have not heard from GRC in a long while. I also disputed their mark they left on my credit and i will not back down. When GRC runs into a " Bull" and you got after them things change. I have mailed GRC a print out of all the complaints againts CTU-online school. If you do your home work you can stop GRC in their tracks. " Google" " [redacted]" and type in GRC you will see their are many complaints that date back to 2008. [redacted] # 394837 . print it all out and go after them and also blog any information you have against GRC or your school.
Thanks Darcy Brewer- Indiana

general revenue corporation also uses the initials grc- check them out : general revenue corporation.com they l o o k legit, but to me they claimed to be authorized representatives of the ohio attorney general, and contacted me for payment on something that i paid more than a year ago. i made a mistake- i faxed a copy of my reciepts- complete with checking account number. well, they didn't take any money out yet, but i am not taking any chances. i took out all but 90 cents, and plan on opening a new account so they cannot reach my money.

I just filed a complaint with the FCC for mail fraud committed by GRC. I received a letter stating my student loans were being reported as "severely past due" by the lenders of my student loans! Funny, my loans have been in in-school deferments for months and, therefore, no payment is due until 2014. Why would they send some phony letter trying to scare those of us who pay our bills on time? How odd is that?! I was told that they just want to let me know that in the event that I ever have problems paying my loans, that they are there to help. In the meantime, the girl puts me on hold to contact both of my lenders to confirm that my loans are in good standing. I even had to verify myself to DLS while the GRC rep was on the line, giving my SSN, address, and DOB. I should have declined the verification process and ended this farce once and for all.

If you are in good standing with your lender and have received this misleading bogus collection letter, be sure to report GRC to the FCC and BBB!!

You stupid college snot nosed little whip dick know all . Your School hired GRC, to forward paperwork to you to let you know something is going on with your account and the letter tells you why they are trying to reach you. But since you [censor]ing know it all, ignore it. Let your penalties and interest pile up into a massive debt. The schools do make mistakes at times when people are in default or in school deferment, it just happens, if you are to the good, it is the consumers responsibility to provide the proof. that's just the way it is. If you changed schools or had a lapse in attending and didn't file your deferment paperwork your loan will fall into the defaulted category and turned over to a collection agency such as GRC. Wether you are due in 2014 for you payments or not, you failed to file some type of paperwork, or else why would they contact you. Ah Duhhhhhhhhhhh
DO THE RIGHT THING AND CALL THEM AND THEY WILL EXPLAIN TO YOU WHAT YOU FAILED TO DO, OR provide them with proof of your
in-school deferment status, and you will be removed from the mailing and the calls on your account. Don't be so [censor]ing arrogant that you don't respond. It will cost you dearly in the end. TRUST ME, I forgot
to do this on one of my loans and it cost me 5% interest on the loan and
23.75% in collection fees. I didn't give them a change of address, so they had no idea how to reach me, so it when to a collections agency to
try and locate me and establish contact, they found me. It's easy to miss
one little piece of paperwork not getting filed, at the time I had 14 loans
out, all my others were in good standing, so I had to bite the bullet and pay on this on since I didn't follow the instructions on that loan, I flat out missed it. But they were very easy to work with me an affordable
payment plan to fit my budget. They were the most professional folks
I had ever dealt with in a adverse situation. Like I said sine you know it all go ahead and avoid the contact or the proof of ' YOUR RIGHT", AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. If you are right and the school is wrong, so be it.

BUT WHAT IF YOU ARE WRONG... PREPARE YOUR POCKETS
THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING... Do the right thing, make the contact
and clear it up quickly.

Hey, Thomas300, you can hardly speak the english language. Before you criticize people, why don't you make sure that they will understand what the [censor] you're saying. You have no comprehension of grammar, and your endless complaints lose any and all credibility when the person reading it can hardly understand what the hell you're saying. I get that you hate doctors, lawyers, and anyone who has pursued a secondary education, but maybe you should spend less time criticizing people who are trying to do things with their lives, and more time learning to speak and write the language of the country you live in. Here's one free grammar tip: highfalutin is one word, not two. If you can't use a word correctly, don't use it at all. If we're lucky, no one will ever hear your dumbass ramblings ever again. I'm embarrased to live in the same country with people like you, and you should get a [censor]ing life.
Sincerely,

You obviously understood what I was saying Ms. Webster or you wouldn't have replied. Nevertheless, you should be proud that folks like me exist. Filtering out the [censor] in this world is a necessity for the average joe to get by in life, since we don't have deep pockets like you to pay for the rest of the worlds debt. Your [censor]ing high and mighty attitude has blinded you to the fact that 30% is added to all cost of everything because of theft and no paying irresponsible mother [censor]ers. I'm tired of paying for others to be [censor]ing dead beats, if you don't understand that, OH well sista go burn you stack of $100 bills in your fire place. You Highfalutin over educated, stupid blind to reality in the world, snippity [censor] Hag. Have a nice Miss Thang !!!

I just moved into a new apartment and I made the mistake of getting a landline. I just receieved a phone call from General Reveue Corp asking me if I knew my neighbor. I don't any of my neighbors. What is unnerving is the fact that she addressed me by name. When I asked her what this was regarding, she informed me it was to collect a debt. I asked her how she got my information. She hung up on me. I called the number back and this time got a different person. When I asked him for the companies contact information he told me he didn't know it. He informed me that the company was well within their rights to contact the neighbors of an individual in order to collect the debt. I don't think this is true so I reported it to the BBB. Not sure how far this will go, but it is a start.

What CTU- Online in my case was fraud. I never attended any class online, never had a teacher or subject. I never seen a contract, nothing. What CTU did was call me get all my info full name, social, and address and then when i quested them as to what the costs where they gave no answer, they made untrue statements and that is fraud no contract is valid when you have no idea as to what your siging up for . They just kept calling and then when i did not cooperate they sent me a 713.00 bill. Lets speed up now. we are 3 years later, that bogus bill went to 3 collection companies and was rejected . They have had the BBB on their ### and now have sold that bogus debt to another college that I have had no contact with . I only know because the last collection co said so. They refused to give the new school / paper mill/ address & phone to me . At no time was this false debt valadated. It was all fraud, CTU knew they could not fit me in a class and they never gave any dollar amount . They just wanted to send a bill of 700 to as many people as they can weather or not if they could offer a service. It's called Fraud. Duress
When someone unlawfully pressures you to make a contract against your will, it's called duress. A contract made under duress isn't enforceable. An example would be a person holding a gun to your head to get you to sign a contract.

Fraud and Misrepresentation
Fraud and misrepresentation are false statements used to get you to make a contract. They must relate to a present or past important fact that you rely on. A fraud is a deliberate misstatement of a fact. An example would be if someone sold you a table they said was an antique, knowing it to be a reproduction. A misrepresentation can be an innocent misstatement.

If you're a victim of fraud or a misrepresentation, you can cancel the contract. A defrauded party can sue the wrongdoer for damages too. A victim of fraud may also have other remedies under the law of consumer fraud

I have received multiple rude calls from these idiots attempting to collect a debt from someone I've never even heard of. I don't recognize the name. I've told them repeatedly I don't know this person and to please remove my phone number from the account in question. They get rude and snyde each time, calling me by this person's name and telling me that if I just pay the bill they'll go away. I am not this person, it's not my bill, and I will not be paying it. How do I get these ###s to remove my number and leave me be?
