Acappella Bengals This guy gives breeders a very bad name

Larry and Jonni Doepenschmidt are breeding sick bengals . Larry must be the " BARNEY FIFE " or "the KING of the HILL " type of character with a beer in hand. We watched him drink 6 in under an hour. What we witnessed at Acappella wasn't good. Ferral and wild kittens. We couldn't even touch them. Sneezing and eye discharges it was a sad sight. The whole visit Larry told dirty jokes making fun of women and Blacks. Smoking heavily around the kittens and they were scared to death of his hand. We ended up passing on buying from him.We just didn't feel good about his whole story. He did give us his vets name and she said that he had several serious problems but, wouldn't disclose them to us.

Overall, when we left he became angry and rude. We ended up buying from a real nice lady close buy and have not one regret. BUYERS BEWARE. I think this guy gives breeders a very bad name.

I bought my first Bengal cat from Larry and Jonni of Akapella Bengals. I found them to be very helpful people. They did not pressure and urged me to check other catteries to compare. I did. Soon after I made my first visit to their cattery. This was nearly five years ago. The cats all lived in the house. I had the opportunity to play with several litters. All of the kittens were sociable and seemed to love interacting with people.

On my second visit to their cattery, we discussed the possibility of me becoming a breeder (in competition with them) and they not only supported me but offered to mentor me. It has been, like I said, five years now and we still maintain contact and I still hold them in the highest esteem. If I do not contact them often enough, they call me to see how I'm doing. They've referred people to my cattery and I've also referred many to theirs. They have a spotless reputation in the cat clubs we belong to.

By reputation their cats are sociable and lovely, healthy and perfect companions. I've also seen many of their cats and their cat's offspring on various websites and have heard nothing but good things about them.

I do have first hand knowledge of a breeder in the same town with them who has been slandering them and I strongly suspect he is the one who initiated this report. His 'shady' deals are well noted in the Bengal community. Many say the breeder is a nutbag, I'd agree and many of these posts that only occurred in April are obviously written by a crazy person.

Acappella Bengals Wonderful Experience

I ran across the complaint from Dave Clark regarding Acappella Bengals, and felt I needed to challenge Dave's claims. I have recently purchased the most amazing little Bengal kitten from Jonni and Larry's cattery, and could not be happier with my experience. I already have a grown Bengal, and decided to get him a playmate. I have visited, emailed, and spoke with many catteries during my search for my two Bengals, and felt most comfortable with Larry and Jonni. I made two trips to their place over the course of the process, and was thoroughly impressed with their set up. Very clean, all happy healthy kittens. Most kittens already had homes waiting for them from the time they were born. I have no idea the basis on which his complaint was posted, however I know first hand that his claims are 100% false.
Thanks,
Travis

Acappella Bengals Terrible Experience

So BAD ! Larry and Jonni Doepenschmidt run this outlaw cattery. Some would think KITTEN MILL...The BENGAL MAN will brag and drink a few hell, a retired truckdriver with a drinking problem smokes like a chimney and self appoints himself as a breeder. WHAT A JOKE. Sick Cats. Save your time and go to a real cattery. There are a lot of them out there that at least try. Good Luck. He failed to pass our test.

We would like to further discredit Mr. Dave Clark from Clarkstone Bengals. When our 7 year old bengal Bob died in early February 2012, we immediately started searching for a new bengal kitten. My girlfriend phoned numerous Bengal breeders including Clarkstone and Acappella. Mr. Clark was very concerned asking where we had purchased Bob etc. He made sure to let her know that the breeder we purchased him from was famous for selling sick cats etc. telling her that the breeder was hiding out from the law etc. He asked who else she had been in contact with, and at that point we had not contacted Larry & Jonni. Numerous other breeders were then contacted including Acappella. I phoned Dave Clark on a Sunday morning about 10:30am and had never spoken to a more rude person in all my life telling me that he was sleeping and he would call me when he woke up. No phone call was ever returned to me, and frankly with that type of attitude I really didn't care if he called or dropped off the face of the earth.
We were welcomed by Larry & Jonni to visit at any time we chose to see their cattery, but at the time they didn't have any rosetted bengals available but had some marbled ones. We were not interested in marbles. They told us they had two females due within the next couple weeks, and they had 3 people on a waiting list. When the first litter of kittens were born, they contacted us to tell us that they had 5 kittens with rosettes and we decided to visit the following weekend. they were very encouraging and a pleasure to meet and talk to about their cats. It just so happened that their second female decided to start having her litter the day we arrived. They were more than willing to let us enter the delivery room where both mothers were with their kittens, as long as we were very quiet and didn't disturb the female who was birthing her litter. Needless to say we decided to purchase our Little Bob from them and picked him up on April 14. 2012. He is the sweetest and funniest kitten that I have owned.
Mr. Clark is obviously jealous that Acappella Bengals has surpassed them in quality and customer satisfaction, so he is using whatever means he can to try to slander their business and using personal issues that have no bearing on breeding cats to try and discredit them. I WOULD NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS BUY FROM CLARKSTONE! HE TRY'S TO SELL BY CUTTING DOWN HIS COMPETITION WITH LIES AND OBVIOUSLY HAS A PERSONAL VENDETTA AGAINST THE DOEPPENSCHMIDT'S @ ACAPPELLA BENGALS. We have received numerous e-mails from Larry & Jonni just checking up on our little man, and we will continue to update them with our progress. Your real grudge is that he is a competitor with quality cats and takes the time to speak with potential owners who call to find a new cat.

This is a rebuttal to Mr. Dave Clark, who owns a competing Bengal cattery in New Braunfels, where Acappella Bengals is also located. Which explains his ridiculous attempt to discredit Acappella Bengals. You know, Mr. Clark, you can be sued for libel. You might want to think about that. Exactly what have you discovered that makes you think Acappella Bengals is a "kitten mill"? Have you researched the cattery? Have you taken pictures? It seems from your description that you have a problem with Mr. Doppenschmidt's smoking and drinking, not necessarily his cats. Sounds like a personal problem to me, pal. And since you're running a competing cattery, it's not surprising that you're trying to ruin his business to build up your own.
You also claim his kittens are "sick". I beg to differ. We purchased a beautiful, well-socialized, healthy female kitten from Larry and Jonni in 2010, and she's grown into an amazing cat. We've had NO problems with her--she's a precious addition to our family and Larry and Jonni took every step they could to make sure we were serious, caring, safe buyers. So-- where's your proof? You sound like a bunch of sour grapes to me, dude. You can be sure my husband and I won't be visiting YOUR cattery any time soon, because obviously you have no class. Nope, we'll be going back to Acappella, thankyouverymuch. Kat and Dave Foster, Katy, Texas.

Dave, hope you've been doing well! When could you send me the cat? It has been a year. I paid USD2500 to you and you never sent the cat to me. You sent me pics of around 8 kittens and you were expecting to select all of them and I didn't. this made u really angry. WHY? Don't I have options not to buy kittens that seems sick? I already sent a letter to Paypal asking my money back. Also I am writing a letter to Cheryl Horgan at TICA to tell her what you have done to me. You told me that She was your friend, ha? Do u still remember you sent a Gueen Gene's pedigree that is not for the cat I bought from you? You are totally a thief in the bengal world. You will get paid for what you have done.
I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY SINGLR WORD I JUST SAID HERE. FIND YOUR LAWYER TALK TO ME DAVE.

A negative review from a competing cattery. No conflict of interest there I'm sure.
