BAIT-AND-SWITCH tactic used to lure us into new Club Wyndham contract:

BAIT: At the check-in building, a Wyndham hostess approached and encouraged a meeting with a Wyndham Rep to ensure that our present contract would not be subjected to new proposed fees (reservation charges, etc.) due to new structure change (more tiers, etc.). She said to make sure the the word "Legacy" is indicated on our present contract to reflect our original point status that would be grandfathered into the new structure. A meeting was set up for the following day (Jun 25). The Wyndham hostess asserted that there would be no sales presentation.

SWITCH: Meeting with Wyndham Rep (Jun 25) immediately segued (with no discussion about original purpose of this meeting) into assertion that our present contract would cost us $250,000 in maintenance fees over the next ten years; however if we traded our contract for a new one, the maintenance fees over ten years would only be $78,000. We noticed that on the contract there was an additional 200,000 points which she said we needed for the new contract. The catch was that the contract would have to be done that day. The Wyndham Rep asserted that walking out on the offer would be the same as giving Wyndham a blank check to determine our maintenance fees. We relented and agreed to a new contract. The Wyndham Rep said that she would call us on July 8th to talk about the contract.

On July 5, after much thought, we realized we had made a drastic mistake with this new contract. The $78,000 was for the purchase of the of the 200,000 points and had nothing to do with the maintenance fees. As result of the purchase, the monthly maintenance fee was increased by $101.48 [from $328.70 (old contract) to $430.18 (new contract)]. We contacted the Wyndham Rep via email and requested a total exit from Wyndham. She, in consultation with Wyndham Quality Assurance would give us our options for exiting Wyndham. On July 25, we received a call from the Wyndham Rep and were switched over to a Manager. He told us that our new contract session was live and that we were not afforded a grace period to cancel the contract and that the only option to exit was to pay into the equity of the new contract ($78,000)

This matter has been reported to a Sales Experience Specialist, Owners Resolution and Strategy and to date (Aug 2), she reports that she has no update on our request to exit Wyndham.

Desired outcome: Total Exit from Wyndham
