Sometime in November we noticed that the cars heat was working intermittly and the engine would rev high sometimes. On about 12/3/22 while running some errands, without prior warning the engine light comes on and the car goes into limp mode. Luckily I was near the dealership. I was there for several hours while the car was being diagnosed. I later learned the coolant was low and they would need to keep the car for further testing. As per the warranty I purchased there was no loaner car available.
The repair invoice reads that the mileage in/out was “ 96998/96998 “.
“ A free car wash and multi-point inspection “.
Coolant found to be very low and a stored code for an overheated engine (“ which will cause damage to the cylinder heads “).
A transmission code of PO732
Remanufactured transmission installed, cooler flush and reprogram TCM.
The car was received by us about 12/2/22. It seemed to me that the sound of the high revving was still there and the heat rarely worked if it came on at all. After several days of driving the car, on 1/12/23 the engine light came on and the car again went into limp mode. Drove back to the dealership and at this time the odometer is just over 100k which puts it out of warranty. A loaner was given to me which is still in my possession and they are now asking me to pay for. Our out of pocket expenses include two rental cars $2045.00 and a recommended coolant flush w/disposal fee $145.00
It is now said that the motor is shot and needs to be replaced. The warranty has expired, however I believe I’m still entitled to a free repair because both conditions (damaged cylinder heads and PO732) did existed at the same time while only one was addressed. Besides the fact that ordinary wear and tear should not account for these problems so soon in the life of this vehicle. Not even a warning light appeared. Please let me know as quickly as possible what arrangements do you propose for rectifying the problem and continuing our relationship amicably.
As of this writing, my request has been denied.
