bought a 1997 Camaro from Garrett Poe at Classic Auto Mall. The car showed 70+K in miles, and I bought the car as is. I was told the car would turn over but not start. I was also told their onsite mechanic said it could be a bad sending unit/fuel pump or Opti Spark problem. I own 2 of these 1996-1997 SS Camaro's and this is a common problem especially when the sit for long periods of time. I received the car about 3 weeks later and was happy with the outside and inside condition. It was as described. I smelled the gas and could tell that the Fuel was old due to setting in the gas tank for a very long time. I sent the car to my mechanic, and this is where the nightmare begins. We stating replacing the sending unit in tank and discovered it has already been replaced.

They also cut a hole in trunk floor to replace sending unit instead of dropping rear end. We also noticed the Opti Spark was also replaced by consignment owner. We started to think it was something more serious at this point. We open up the oil pan and found tons of metal shaving, as well as metal shavings in the differential. Videos attached. We also noticed the transmission, clutch and flex plate was shot.

So, the engine has to be rebuilt, rear-end rebuilt and transmission rebuilt as well. I emailed Videos and Pics of damage to Classic Auto Mall. Two days later a man named Dan, I think, called me to say I bought the car as is, which I agreed, but I also felt the damages were purposely hide, like changing the oil prior to sell so dipstick was clean, by their consigner and Classic Auto Mall was complicit in allowing the consigner to hide the serve damage to the car's drivetrain. I was told the owner of Classic Auto Mall would call me.

He did but he had not read my emails or watched the videos from my mechanic. He said that I should have hired an inspection. I asked him would you allow my inspector to drop oil pan or remove differential cover? He answers, NO! I told him since he knows nothing that he should watch videos and views picks and then call me back. It has now been 2 weeks and still no call from owner. Totally screwed over by this seller and consigner. All these mechanic issues had to be known by the seller/consigner. They just did not disclose them even though they signed disclosure statements with Classic Auto Mall saying they knew of no mechanical issues. It's a shame to be this dishonest.

Classic Auto Mall stated that 85-year women consigned the car to them and did not know about the car's history. BS! Someone in her family knew the issues and an 85-year-old lady did not show up at Classic Auto Mall by herself to sell the car. Stewart Holder was the seller of the car per the sales contract. No female seller is listed anywhere on the sales contract. PS Rear end in car is from a salvage yard. It almost looks like the previous owner let someone do burn outs in the car until they blew the engine, rear-end and clutch.
