Cecil Goitia review: Estate sale

I hired Cecil Goitia to sell furniture and antiques from my mother's apartment in Buenos Aires. They did an initial assessment for which they game me some prices for items in the house. Trusting that they knew their business and that they would deal honestly with me and because I was not correctly computing the exchange rate, I did not realize how low the prices they had given me were. The day of the sale, they started putting prices on things. However, before they priced everything they said they had pre-sold a number of items to a VIP buyer with money. They did not share with me what items were sold or at what price, and proceeded to box everything up.

In addition, they asked that I not be present during the sale because the buyers would feel uncomfortable. I honored their request, and consequently did not see all the prices that had been added to the items displayed. After the sale, when I was able to digest what had happened, I contacted the company to at least get money for the items that had been sold without my knowledge of price. I have photographs of most of the items that were sold and it would be easy to see how they low-balled the items. In the end it was obvious that they have their buyers to whom they give the items for nearly nothing.
