On evening of 6/15/23 I arrived at international terminal at 10:30pm. After customs and baggage claim I had a narrow time window to travel to the groome pickup location to make the last van of the day. The line for the airport shuttle was long and only one shuttle was running.
I opted to take a taxi from the International terminal to the domestic terminal. I was tired and I did not notice that the driver did not turn on his meter. I was charged $40 for the short ride. I asked for a printed receipt. All he would provide was a hand written receipt. Because there was no meter running and he knew that I was in a rush to catch the Groome van, I had no recourse by to pay him as asked.
All travelers should be aware that the cab driver is not using his fair meter and likely inflating fares!
Desired outcome: 1. I would like to have only paid the metered amount for the short ride.2. Most importantly, I want the airport to be aware of the conduct of this driver and for other travelers to be warned.
